In a part of the Gangu Forest, under the multi-colored trees, there was a stag grazing alone. This male deer looked spectacular, with pure white fur and silver patterns, paired with the silver horns growing out of its head, it was a majestic creature. The stag stopped chewing and its ears twitched, it had heard something. It cautiously looked around but couldn't see anything; it waited for a few moments before going back to its food. Everything went back to a peaceful state, then a huge cage, which seemed to have materialized out of thin air, surrounded it.
The cage was golden-white, it had no openings, the four sides were bolted by huge swords with runic patterns drawn on them. From the outside, you could hear the stag trying to break free, but the cage held. Then with the rustling of leaves, four children who seemed to have blended with the forest came walking out.
"Ugh, thank goodness! I thought we were going to squat there forever." George said.
"Well, we caught it, no thanks to you by the way. You kept on shuffling, and it heard something, it would have seen us and ran away if Mary didn't cast [Camouflage]." David said.
"It wouldn't have run away…."
"It would have."
"Hey Sarah, why is the [Uriel's Cage] so big?" Henry said as he pointed at the glowing cage that was as tall as some trees.
"It's because I just unlocked the spell, so I'm not in the least bit proficient with it yet. And since the spell doesn't just cage but also saps stamina so it would take a long time to master it- "
"We get it! You've been bragging about that skill since you completed the quest and got it." George rolled his eyes.
Sarah just chuckled, not minding his quip, "The spell duration is almost ending, ready your attacks." Mary, who hadn't said anything since immediately summoned her weapon, the bow. As she aimed an arrow materialized in her fingers. The boys all gathered wind on their palms and condensed them until they were visibly sharp. After they gave Sarah the go-ahead, she released the stag. It staggered to its feet as it tried to weakly run away, but then an arrow drilled into its neck, and the wind blades followed after, effectively slicing off its head. The stag twitched a bit before dying. The boys and Mary checked and saw their exp points go up a few numbers.
George smiled and kept his arms akimbo, "Now we don't have to worry about food for the next three days. Okay Sarah, you're up again. Let's get this thing home."
Sarah nodded and closed her eyes to concentrate, soon a big ball of light formed, then it divided into five parts, then those five parts stretched into long ropes that tied the stag in five different places. Then the ropes extended to each of them.
"[Herculean Strength]." Sarah chanted, and a halo surrounded all of them for a brief moment before disappearing, granting them the strength of five men (at least that's what Sarah thought), then they all grabbed the ropes and began dragging the deer where they came from. They left the head though. The smell of their kills would draw nearby animals to their vicinity, so they learned to keep some part of the animal down for others to fight over. Then they covered their tracks (which was just them using wind to spread their scent everywhere) as they went back home.
As they trekked back home, Sarah couldn't help but think about their current lives. It had already been three weeks since the destruction of their village, and since they were used to joining the adults when they hunt it didn't take long for them to get accustomed to living in the forest. They didn't talk much when they left their destroyed village, especially Mary. They were all full of sorrow, and were trying to get used to the fact that their family was dead. One day, while they were foraging for food, they were suddenly attacked by a savage bear. While the others stood still in fear and waited for their deaths, Sarah jumped forward, blinded it, then savagely stabbed its skull with her dagger.
Before it died it rampaged a bit, and ended up injuring Sarah, who astonished them again by healing herself. When they asked what happened, Sarah finally explained how they survived in the past.
Two days later, they were followers of the God of Origins.
When they got their system, they saw the different characters that they could choose from, The Archer, The Mage, The Cleric, and The Warrior. After that there was a 'more coming soon' sign. The boys all chose Mage, they had always wanted to use magic for a long time, they always played pretend back in the village, shooting imaginary icicles and fireballs at each other. Mary chose Archer as soon as she saw the description, her father was a bowman, he had promised to teach her how use a bow and arrow before the tragedy. When they made their choices, they were immediately gifted with accessories that came with the class, the boys were given bangles that help with magic flow, while Mary was given a bow. She wasn't given a stack of arrows because they appeared when she needed them as long as she had mp. The accessories have their own space and they just needed to think to equip them. The [Dagger of Purity] given to Sarah was also classified as an accessory.
They were also given attires. Their clothes had the same design; a short robe, an inner vest, fingerless gloves that extend to the forearm, fitted pants, and boots. The clothes regulated their temperature, so they didn't get too cold or too hot, they were very comfortable, and they never got dirty and had a self-repair function. The only difference was the colors, the boys were blue, Mary's was brown, Sarah's was white with gold patterns. They've been wearing them for a while now since most of their clothes were ash.
They soon reached 'home', which was just a cave where they slept in. They all went to do their respective chores immediately. The boys were in charge of gathering firewood while the girls were skinning the animal. When they were done the boys had a little argument over who would start the fire, David won. After eating the meat (without spices) and drinking water the boys conjured, the next thing to do was lay down and wait for their food to digest. Their lives were very simple, hunt, eat, sleep, practice, repeat. They had nothing to do, so Inyaki decided to give them work.
[Save the merchant's daughter!]
They all jumped when they got the message.
"What is this? A quest?" Goerge asked.
"It seemed that way, although it's different from all the quest we've gotten before." Henry muttered.
"We are supposed to save someone, but we don't know where they are," Sarah said before she shouted, "Wait, let's check the map!" Although they didn't have a map of the whole Gangu Forest their system had a function, there was a blank map that automatically recorded where they've traveled to. Anytime they were given a quest to find berries or animals they usually find a beacon on the map. And, sure enough, there was a red mark floating over a part of the map.
"Okay guys, we are about to meet someone for the first time in a while, are you ready?" Sarah asked.
They all nodded. They didn't waste any time and immediately raced to the quest site. Soon they reached a clearing with a stream and a waterfall. There was also a girl and several men fighting against a horde of brown goblins. They were all using swords.
"Oh shit, magical beasts," Goerge said, and everyone shared the same thought. This was the first time they'd encountered them, though they knew about them, "Are we really going to fight them?"
Before anyone could say anything, Mary walked forward and summoned her bow, "Our God gave us this mission," She said as she nocked an arrow, "which means he believes that we won't fail." She let the arrow fly and it embedded itself into a goblin's skull, "Let us not disappoint Him."
They all smiled and nodded their heads, then they ran towards the goblins who had already noticed their arrival. Sarah constructed a bridge which allowed them to cross over to the other side of the stream while Mary, George and Henry attacked from behind with arrows and fireballs. When the got to the astonished girl and the men David used the stream water to separate all of them from the goblins.
"Wah- Who are you people?!" -: Girl.
"We were passing through, saw you were in trouble, and decided to help!" -: Sarah.
"What? Where are your parents?!" -: Man.
"Where are your parents? -: George.
"Guys, this won't hold them for long!" -: David.
"Drop it, Let's go on the attack!" -: Henry.
"LET'S GOOO!!!"
They disorderly leaped into battle.
