Chapter 6 - Chapter Six – Tamer

Inyaki chuckled in his divine space as he watched what was happening below. He was glad when they defeated all those goblins, even though he knew they could fend for themselves – which is why he gave them the quest in the first place – he was still a little bit scared to watch his babies take on magical beasts. Luckily, there wasn't any strong ones among them.

But damn, those kids are vicious. Truth be told, they didn't really have to battle the goblins, all he said was 'save the merchant's daughter', so if they had gotten her out of there, the quest would still have been completed. Instead, they chose to massacre the goblins, and the way they got excited about the exp points they got from killing them made him send condolences to their future enemies.

Now there was one problem that he had, and he didn't know how to solve it. The way he felt watching them fight made him realize; he didn't want them to die. It seemed that he still had all his human feelings when he transmigrated, including empathy. So, he wasn't sure if he should copy what the god of that popular novel did and give his followers a place their soul would stay when they die so they could be resurrected. Although making something like that would take a considerable amount of power to do, he was seriously considering it.

Ah, whatever. He would think about that later.

He was also considering taking his followers kills and exchanging them for more power, but he soon realized, that it wouldn't work. Unlike the other gods, he was made with Faith Power. And unlike other gods, he can shape that power to be anything. Like for example, if a god was called the God of Fire, his power would mostly preside over the control of fire, and his followers would only be able to use the power of flames, but he could convert Faith Power into anything! It wouldn't be a mistake if he named himself the God of Faith.

So, since his divine power is faith, the only way he could get stronger was by collecting the faith from his followers. And the best way to do that was in a transaction-like process; he gives them something, their happiness and praise turns into Faith Power, he then collects it and grows stronger. He had already been doing that every day but because he had only five followers, the effect is barely seen. But Faith Power is a very strong and potent power, in the game he literally used it to shape the world.

He had a lot of projects that needed to be completed and new ones would come along the way, but for now, all he had to do was get new followers.

He was scouring the world looking for the right candidates to bestow a power upon them. He was specifically looking for broken people or people who were called trash, or people who are dying. Why? Because this is a system people! You can't just give it to random people. And sure, if they believe in him anyone would get a system, but just the basic ones, the ones he gives himself will be special, hidden classes.

He had just made something new, and he can't wait to see the look on the face of the person who gets it, and how it would change their lives.

And he seemed to have found the right candidate….

As a hunter, Ronan's current situation could be considered one of the worst.

He had left his house, which was located in the small Rainfall Town, near the Rainfall Jungle, very early to check the traps he had set, only to find them empty. Not wanting to go back home empty handed – and since had had nothing else to do – he ventured into the jungle with his trusty bow and arrows. He tried till noon but still couldn't catch anything, because even though he was a hunter, he wasn't a very good one.

So, he didn't notice the marks on the trees that most magical beast use to signify their territory and walked right into a fight between two magical beasts.

In front of him was a giant black snake and an equally giant red salamander. When magical beasts get to the third rank, they get an explosive body growth, and these beasts were definitely in the third rank!

Their battle shook the earth, and trees toppled as the fought. The salamander fought with its claws and fangs while the snake tried to entangle its enemy. The battle was a tough one because they both had strong defenses which neither of them could break easily, but Ronan was sure that the snake would lose, because it was fighting a Red Salamander, which had fire properties. It could coat its claws with flames, making it easy for them to cut steel, and could even spout fire out of its jaws. Soon, as he had predicted, some wounds beginning to appear on the snake's body, making it fight even more fiercer.

Seeing that the beasts didn't notice him, Ronan quickly ran under some bushes behind a big tree to hide. He prayed to the gods that the magical beasts would not find him. He couldn't run, because when he did the victor of the fight would immediately hunt him down. So, he stayed there, shivering in fright at the loud noises.

The noise didn't last for long though. After a few minutes everything went completely silent. Ronan stayed where he was for a few minutes before moving when he realized that nothing came to kill him. He was about to run away when he suddenly stopped and looked back.

'Should I go check what happened?'

Ronan shook his head as he tried to get rid of such thoughts. He had no idea where they came from. He began walking away again when he was once again drawn to the battle that happened behind him. He wasn't a very curious person, so he didn't know where the feeling was coming from.

After a while he stopped struggling and gave in to his curiosity, he walked past some trees and came in front of an incredible scene. The snake had strangled the salamander to death, but the salamander had dug its claws and teeth into the snake's body. It seemed neither let go until they both met their demise. Ronan had never seen such an awesome scene before, these small titans had thrashed everywhere, their battle broke even some of the strongest trees in the jungle, trees Ronan would never be able to mark in his lifetime. There were pit holes and cracks spreading on the earth.

But now they were dead, and something was calling him to them.

Since they were Third-Ranked-Beasts, their aura alone wouldn't let smaller beasts come to the vicinity, so he had time to check what drew him to their bodies. He summoned his courage and walked straight to them, maneuvering around the still sizzling venom that were splattered on the ground. As he got closer, their bodies became bigger, and soon they loomed over him, their shadows blocking the little light from the sun that broke through the canopy of trees. Ronan couldn't help but feel their scaly bodies, they were cold to the touch.

'There's no time for this.' He removed his hands and checked for what was calling him. As he got closer the feeling became stronger, and he turned his head towards the place where the connection was stronger and was immediately given a fright. The snake was looking straight at him! It was still alive –

No! It was still dead, it died with its eyes open. Ronan leaned forward and looked at his reflection in its yellow eyes, although he could hardly see himself, the only thing clear was his vibrant red hair. He shook his head and continued searching, the signal was coming under the snake's body. He wasn't strong enough to pull the two beasts apart, so he had to wiggle his way in. After a bit of struggling, he finally saw what was calling him.

It was an egg.

He grabbed it out and held it in confusion. The egg was very big, if he kept it next to him it would reach his knees. It was also wide; his fingers could barely touch as he hugged it close to his chest.

"This is… "Ronan couldn't understand why an egg would be calling to him. There was a lot of crazy things in this world but this...

Well anyways, I've gotten what I came for already. Time to leave. Ronan held the egg tight as he carefully ran away. He ran and ran, eager to get far away from their bodies before they attract more beasts. He ran until he reached his house. Luckily, he didn't meet people on the way.

When he got in, he immediately locked his door. He kept the egg on the floor and flopped on his bed, his body finally resting now that he was home. Now that his life wasn't in danger, he remembered that he still hadn't caught any game. Maybe he should boil the egg, that was probably the reason why it was calling him –

A crack sounded, disturbing his thoughts. He turned his head to where the sound was coming from and saw the egg shaking.

"Shit! Is it about to hatch?!" He jumped off his bed rapidly backed away three steps, even though it was just a baby, the egg was most definitely one of the Third-Rank Beast's child. It would absolutely be dangerous.

Either the egg wasn't as sturdy as it looked or the magical beast inside was too strong, because after a few seconds of shaking the egg burst apart, and a long slender black snake covered in fluid fell out. The snake hissed and slithered as it tried to move through the fluids covering its body. It raised its head and looked straight at Ronan.

Ronan stared with his mouth open and eyes wide as he shuffled backwards. Even though it was just a baby, it was still a magical beast! And he was just a normal boy. 'Oh gods,' he thought, 'I shouldn't have taken the egg. I should have just left. Now I'm going to die –'

[Ding!]

[The God of Origins has seen your plight, and he has blessed you with his power!]

[Would you like to tame the beast in front you?]

What?

There were words floating in front of his face. He shook his head and waved his hands in front of his face, but they didn't disappear.

[Would you like to tame the beast in front of you?]

The beast…

Ronan looked at the snake that was slowly slithering towards him.

"Tame it – yes! Yes, I would like to tame it!"

[To activate the system, say the prayer; In the name of the Lord of Origins, I pray for new hope!]

"In the name of the Lord of Origins, I pray for new hope!" Ronan hurriedly said the words. After he said it, a pentagram appeared under the snake, it flashed a red light that covered the snake, making Ronan cover his eyes. Then the light compressed into a small ball and flew into his shoulder before he could dodge it. He removed his shirt and found that a snake tattoo had appeared on his shoulder.

"What is this… "He tried to rub the tattoo off, but it was stuck to his skin. Suddenly, a bunch of information appeared in his head, making him understand a lot of things.

"S-status page." He said hesitantly, then a page appeared in his vision.

[Name: Ronan]

[Class: Tamer]

[Companion beast: Black Forest Snake]

[Level: 0]

[HP: 20/20]

[MP: 10/10]

[PRF: 0/100]

[EXP: 0/10]

[STATS: Strength (1), Agility (1), Perception (1), Intelligence (1)]

[Skill Points: 0]

[Status Points: 0]

Ronan stared in amazement at the weird words that appeared in his vision, but with the information that he now had, he thankfully understood them… for the most part. Although he couldn't understand why his intelligence was just one.

He focused on his class and a miniature snake covered with a transparent ball appeared, on top of it was the skill tree, they were all grey and locked, so he focused on the miniature snake and felt magical power burning faintly in his chest. This was the Tamer magic; he could utilize some properties of his companion beast, or he could summon it to fight.

He raised his palm up, "Summon." Immediately he spoke the words the pentagram reappeared, it floated above his palm, flashed the red light and the snake appeared on his palm. Ronan smiled as he watched the snake curl around his arm, he could feel its emotions, its curiosity.

Ronan had been living alone for more than five years, after his mother died of a strange illness. And although he talked to some hunters, the meat cutter and that one lady who buys and sells his game, he didn't really have a friend. But now he had something that was connected to him as he was connected to it. He watched the snake nuzzle him and his mind filled with anticipation for the future.

Inyaki nodded in satisfaction as he watched the first of his tamers. He decided he wasn't going to make Tamer a special class, anyone who wanted to be a Tamer could choose it alongside the Warrior, Cleric and others.

His next project was to find a place for his followers. Most gods had temples that reside everywhere in a kingdom, and around there will be an abundance of followers who would do anything for their gods. His followers were still not very strong, but they have eccentric powers that could amass unwanted attention. He needed to direct them to a place run and managed by them, he didn't want them to just scatter across the world and praying without a temple or a symbol.

He not only needed to find a place but a person to manage it. He began scouring the world again. There should be a fallen noble somewhere…
