Chapter 6 - Unidentified Creatures

Austronesian Empire, Imperial Maharlika, Maynilad, Malacanang Palace.

2000, 1, 1st Week, January

Deafening roar surrounds every corner of the entire Austronesia. Thunderous strikes vibrate through the surroundings as the flaps of the wind became more strong and frequent with each moment that passes by. The seas of the country became more virulent and much more violent than in a typical average storm. Flickers of light engulf the skies as the loud bashing of thunders fills the ears.

The thunder, lightning, the storm, and the deafening roar of a creature, none of it was normal. This flabbergasted the emperor and his officials.

'Have those North Americans created the Armageddon? If so, it might explain these abnormalities happening all around our nation. After all, if they have only created a way to control the weather, it wouldn't be this advance as yet, but it's definitely possible. Still, the reports that were coming in of flickers of light, and a thunderous roar seems to be very abnormal. Furthermore, the liberation navy was reporting of having reports of sightings of many shadows below the sea, and the passive sonar seems to say the same. Somehow, everything that seems to have happened points to one thing. It is that the North Americans may have already developed it a long time ago, and we have only discovered it recently. So they may want to make an example of us, if there are other spies that may have discovered it." The emperor thought to himself.

Looking at the clock, the emperor noticed the clock has already struck twelve o' clock, so that means it was already new year, and that they have now transitioned to the next millennium. The emperor's mouth slanted downward even more and uttered something silently.

"What a way to celebrate the new year,"

Austronesian Empire, Imperial Tanah Melayu, Melaka, A Military Shelter In Melaka.

2000, 1, 1st Week, January

A child frantically ran inside the military shelter as he was witnessed by multiple soldiers who immediately let him in. The child was soaking wet as he cries to the nearest soldier.

"Monster…" the child uttered.

It utterly confused the soldiers present as to what is happening, so they try to confirm it to the child again.

"I saw monsters!" the child said

The soldiers had a look of understanding, so they try to comfort the child.

"Little one, there is nothing to fear. It's just the usual sound of the thunder and the occasional lightning strikes."

The child shook his head.

"Mother…" the child said

"W-what?! What happened to your mother, kid?" A soldier said.

The soldiers had a firm look of concern on their expressions.

"A monster destroyed our street, where me and my family were staying and we are the only ones who weren't able to evacuate as we were already asleep. We have read the news only when the thunders started and lightning strikes became frequent. I was the only one who was able to get out of the street as my family was hiding." The child said.

Then suddenly another man that seems to be of higher position, when the soldiers noticed the man they saluted him.

"Your situation seems to be traumatic for your age. Unfortunately, tell us more information about your situation and these 'Monsters,' while we go to the location where you and your parents were staying at."

Soon after, the man, which was in fact a brigadier general, ordered the surroundings soldiers to prepare a vehicle for transportation. The soldiers tried to stop the brigadier general as there was a violent storm outside, unfortunately he was adamant on seeing the situation sorted out. So he brought a few escorts of armored cars to hamper down the concerned soldiers.

The brigadier general and the child then entered the armored car and proceeded on their way to the front so the child may point out the direction from which he came from.

"So tell me, young man, what are the things that happened leading up to a 'monster,' attacking your neighborhood? Don't be afraid, we'll see to your parent be brought alive," the brigadier general said.

"We were just trying to put inside our wet clothings, when suddenly we heard a loud roar and as soon as we looked through the window, we saw a gigantic monster with wings that seemed from a fairy tale that was breathing blue fire to one of our neighbor houses. My mother, unable to hold back her fear, screamed at the top of her lungs, which made the monster took notice of us. Sensing something bad about to happen, my father grab me and my mother to take shelter inside the other part of the house. Unfortunately, we had to go through outside to be able to enter the other part of the house and so we did. With the strong rain and a fog entering our house. I immediately ran towards outside dodging the front of the creature. I dashed outside as I couldn't see where my parents were and so I headed here towards the military shelter to ask for help." The child said.

The brigadier general had a visible look of confusion and, at the same time, of understanding. While he was at it, he grabbed the telephone at his side and muttered a few words.

"We have a situation, sound the alarms, and follow the route where we entered."

The soldiers next to the brigadier general were utterly dumbfounded after hearing the story of the child. It seemed like from a fantasy fairy tale, but unfortunately because of the present circumstances where everything seems abnormal and the fact that they heard a deafening roar earlier proves otherwise, so they had to see it through.

Alarms were blaring throughout the entire nation of Austronesia, as unidentified creatures seems to have landed and taken hold of a few locations throughout the nation. Vehicles and armored caravans could be seen moving through the streets as the headlights fill the surroundings.
