Moving. She never liked it. Always moving, changing homes, losing friends, change of habitat. But it stopped, when she was 10. Eve's mom, Elena, a single mother, fell in love with a man, named Jax, a single father, with a 14 years old son, Jasper.
After dating for 6 months, Elena and Jax got married. Two years later they had a daughter named, Tess. But after Tess' death, everything changed.
Eve stared at the road ahead of her, while Elena was driving the car. After a whole 6 years of relationship, her parents decided to call it off. Jasper was, all way over the world in German, while Jax stayed back in Forks, Washington DC. Eve and her mom, moved to Pacific Palisades, L.A, California.
"I don't get it", Eve looked at Elena. "You guys were madly in love."
"Well, you were wrong kiddo." Elena sighed, driving the car faster.
"I thought we were done moving- I mean, you promised. We won't move again!" Eve protested.
"Eve", Elena sighed. "Look. We promise many things, 'kay? And sometimes, we can't keep them. But I promised to give you a good life, whatever it takes."
"If giving me a good life means, moving around the world", Eve and Elena glanced at each other. "I don't want one."
Elena was hurt by her words, nonetheless she looked away from her. And pulled up at a gas station after like, 30 minutes.
"You wa-" But Eve was already asleep. Elena smiled at her sleeping daughter, and got out of the car to fill gas.
Eve stood in middle of a fog filled forest. Without any shoes. She looked around herself trying to reorganize that place.
"Evelyn" Her legs automatically started to take her somewhere.
A burned house. Eve slowly walked inside the house, as she looked around it, with a hint of sadness in her eyes.
"Evelyn" She heard it again. But this time it was louder, and more desperate. Eve walked into another room.
She saw, a boy, of her age, maybe a little older, hanging, chained to the wall.
Suddenly the boy looked at her, "Help me! Help me! Someone! Please!"
He kept crying desperately, and it seemed like, she was in someone's memory. Suddenly a woman walked, past her, dyed light purple hair, tall, wearing all black. Holding a injection, filled with yellow liquid.
"I am going to ask you one more time. Where is she?" The woman asked, but the boy shook his head. "Very well then-"
"No- no please!" But the woman injected him with the yellow liquid. "HELP ME! AGH! HELP ME! EVELYN! PLEASE." And his eyes turned bright yellow.
All Eve could do was, stand there and watch as tear left her eyes.
Eve gasped awake, and jerk forward in seat. She sighed in relief, seeing she is back in the car.
"Hey good morning." Elena greeted.
"Morning mom." Eve grumbled.
"Good that you woke up. I was going to wake you anyways. You might wanna explain that." Elena gave a pointed look to her, fisted hands.
Eve, with a surprised look on her face looked at her, not only fisted but, also blood hands. When she opened it, her palm was injured, by her nails.
Eve shrugged, "I don't have one."
Slowly, Elena pulled up the car in front of a beautiful house. "Here we are."
Eve's eyes widened. It was the same house. From her dream. Exactly. But it wasn't burn, it was beautifully painted. And it was big. Very. Enough than they needed, it could hold more than 2 persons.
"W-wow. I-it's great." Eve nodded.
"Hey, let me bandage your hands." Eve didn't protested, as Elena took out the first-aid kit from her bag, and started bandaging.
"How are you, affording this big house and my school?" Eve slowly asked.
Elena's eyes flickered toward her, "Well, your grandparents left a lot. And I have got a job, as a nurse in the hospital. So..." Elena smiled at her. "It's more than enough."
"You always say that." Eve mumbled to herself, as mother-daughter duo got out of the car.
"We could plant trees here." Elena pointed at the garden.
Suddenly a young girl, about Jasper approached them, followed by a boy about Eve's age.
"Hello, are you the new neighbors?" She asked.
Elena smiled and said, "Ah- yes. I am Elena Mccallister. And this is my daughter" she pointed at Eve, who smiled politely. "Eve Mccallister."
The girl and the boy, shared a look. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Mccallister and Eve. I am Lydia Grey, and this is my cousin Jensen Grey."
"Oh just call me Elena."
"Hi."
"Hey." Eve and Jensen shook hands.
"So you're gonna start Freshman year?" He asked.
"Yeah." Eve shrugged, as they also exchanged numbers.
"Great. I am also starting Freshman year."
"We would get much, like to help you guys, to put the stuff inside." Grey offered.
"You guys don't have to," But Eve and Jensen had already started taking things inside. "Thanks."
By 6:30 pm, they were done taking things inside.
"Thank you very much, Jensen..and Grey." Eve said.
"No problem." Jensen smirked.
"Hey, it's already late. How about we all get fresh and have dinner out in some restaurant together?" Elena suggested. "I heard there are very good restaurants around here. It is
