Today marks the day that Dylan had been living with me for one year, and I wanted to give him something.
"Whoops, I forgot something inside. I'll be out in a second."
As we were leaving, I realized I forgot the gift I made for him inside the house. Running back inside, I grabbed it from under my bed and went towards the door, excited and nervous at the same time.
What I made for him was another staff, but this time it was different. It was made with a kind of stone that was still a mystery to everybody. It was called Rhondite, named after the first human to discover it in the mines.
It seemed to be a mixture between some kind of stone and crystal, but nobody–not even the Demons–were able to decipher what exactly it was.
This particular staff was made so the size of the staff would adjust and bind to the user when exposed to their blood–another feature of Rhondite.
When I opened the front door, I looked around, but Dylan wasn't there. I thought he was pulling a prank on me, so I went outside towards the tunnel leading to Tauran Junction, but nothing happened.
'He must have just gone ahead without me.'
However, as I went into the tunnel, I noticed something on the ground in front of me. It was some sort of figurine with two hideous monsters depicted on it, one shorter and holding a staff.

The three hooded figures surrounded the chair, two on each side and one behind me, while another person came through the door, this time unhooded.
It was a strange blend of human and animal, something I had never seen before. Its entire body was covered in a blend of emerald-green and light-green hair, except for its strangely human face.
Its legs were more animal-like than human, but of what animal I couldn't tell. The rest of its body seemed to fit a human's biology, but I could only guess.
"Welcome, sapien. Time to begin."
When the being opened its mouth, its voice was somewhere between a growl and a normal speaking tone, not allowing me to tell if it was male or female. After it spat out what sounded like a racial slur at me, it gave a signal to the other three in the room.
"Begin wha-AAAAAAAAHHHH"
Before I could ask what they were going to do, the three hooded figures next to me simultaneously ripped a chunk of flesh out of my body.
Seemingly receiving a signal back, the being in front of me gave a devilish smile that revealed its jagged teeth and especially long upper fangs.
"Go tell Donovan. I'll take care of this thing from now on."
The three hooded figures threw the chunks of meat they took from me on the ground, one even spitting in front of me before leaving the room.
"Now, we shall truly begin."
The green being in front of me smiled even wider, pulling a long knife from a sheath on their back.
