Chapter 11 - Saving Private Dylan

Alex

Finally reaching the farm in Tauran Junction, I walked up to the two Demon guards.

"Where did they go?"

"Where did who go?"

As the characteristic gravelly and beastly voice of a Demon came out of its mouth, I almost flinched under the pressure it put on me.

I let my rage push through the pressure and grabbed the collar of the Demon in front of me, yelling into his face.

"My boy was taken! Where did they go!?"

Although my strength has increased over my years, it was nothing against the natural strength of a Demon.

Throwing me off, the Demon had a look of disgust on his face as he brushed his armor off and spat on the ground.

"Human, know your place."

After receiving a kick in my stomach, I got up and went towards one of the tunnels leading out of Tauran Junction.

I have to save Dylan.

Walking through, it was both similar to Adonia, yet different in many ways. The tunnel was narrow, yet slightly wider and taller than the one from Adonia. As well as this, all of the stone had a certain tinge of white to it, unlike our bleak gray scenery.

Walking out of the tunnel into the city, I was surprised at how prosperous it seemed.

The cities were lively and somehow full of bright colors–very different from Adonia. There was no trash on the street, no smell of waste, no homeless people living on the streets, no thieves openly stealing food in front of crowds.

And the biggest difference–there were no humans.

Or at least they didn't look exactly like humans. Most were covered in hair from head to toe, but some had skin that looked like the Stony animals from the farm, or even some walking on all fours.

They were all unique from one another, be it the color or unevenness of their limbs in some cases.

Either way, I didn't have time to think about such trivial matters. What was important was that someone would notice a human boy being taken through here.

Taking cover behind the nearest building I could find, I walked around it to look for any alleyways, or some type of waste disposal.

But this city was clean–too clean to be natural. There were no garbage cans, no signs of loose dust or debris anywhere, and no loose hairs coming off of the overly-hairy residents.

It was then that I heard a doorway opening from a building farther ahead. Moving closer, I could hear hurried footsteps leaving the building, and I snuck around to try to get inside.

The door was about to close as I stuck my hand inside, pulling the doorway open just enough to allow myself to slip inside.

I didn't know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't this.
