Arianell.
I went back to the Main Land with mixed feelings. I still couldn't get the cause of dad's death out of my mind. Who would do such cruel thing? Many people thought that it was animal attack. But detective G said that it was definitely supernatural judging from the evidence found on and in dad's body.
What made it confusing was almost all of fluid in dad's body was drained, left only a little. While there was a sign of animal tore dad's throat apart. Then there were scratches made by human's fingers and also some marks of horse's feet. How an animal attack victim body would show scratches made by human's fingers and there were horse's feet too. It just didn't make any sense. I had got to ask Iron if he had something in his instinct.
This was another reason I went back to the Main Land. Iron might know what to do with dad's peculiar death cause.
Ways of the Empaths.
I arrived at the Main Land. I just couldn't believe myself that now I'm an orphan. Dad's body was in the Imperial Colony, and mom's body was here in the Main Land. To be honest, I didn't really know them too well. I only knew I grew up in dad's enormous mansion with lots of books and secret places to explore. But I didn't get the chance to know dad very well. I only knew him from his reputation in the news. It was too much for being the only child.
I only knew mom had to leave me when I was still an infant. Dad said that she needed to do crucial things in the Main Land. The people in the Main Land needed her protection that was what dad said about her. She sounded so noble. Secrets were always in my life.
So, I grew up knowing that mom was protecting the people in the Main Land, and dad protected the people in the Imperial Colony. And my time mostly spent only exploring arts and building designs. Dad loved my designs, thus he mostly asked me to give him my designs to be built as hotels chains. I really love hotels, especially the bathroom interior.
But my most favorite designs were the lobby and the ballrooms. Usually after the hotels were built, I'd be there in the grand opening, enjoying the gala nights. I could see many kinds of people, and saw their reactions over my exterior and interior designs.
Dad didn't mind my idling time seeing the result of my creations. He said it was one of the parts being a strong Empath. It was a process that I had to get through. Each Empath had his or her own way to develop the Empath's ability. Dad developed the ability by force that his dad forced him to run many businesses.
He learned to read opponents' attack and counterattack in the cruel business world. Then he would know what to do next having the best result came out successfully. What made it difficult was that dad had to stay kind. He could never change his true self which was an Empath. Helping people was in his blood.
I heard that there were times he would turn off his phone. I believe it was to run from the daily pressure he had in the office for being a business psychopath alpha. Drove in a taxi, and visited remote place sometimes in the north or in the south of the Imperial colony. Thus, detective G expanded the investigation to the north and the south. Dad always used different taxi services in the nights, so it was quite hard to find which taxi service he used that night.
I thought I really needed extra help like a one giant canine creature that had heightened senses. I needed one werewolf as least. I'd need Iron's help.
He didn't know yet, but I believe he'd be happy to help. After all, he was kind, always took care of me in the Main Land when I was alone and I hadn't met my mom yet. And when they met, mom and Iron were like best friends already. I was happy for a while. I met my mom finally after 19 years and she was a friend of my friend though it was not long. Mom was sick of cancer. She died last year, and now I felt empty.
I needed to find a purpose in my life, besides being a stronger Empath. I guessed this was the reason dad put me in the plain campus with the all-know library. So, I could find my own path of being a stronger Empath. For that, I thank you, dad.
Love at First Sight.
I was supposed to meet Iron in the campus canteen, but he was nowhere to be found in there. Bored, I waited in the corridor through the classes of the designs major building. I texted him, and he replied right away. He said that there was someone he wanted me to meet.
I closed my eyes and inhaled the fresh air of the green surrounding on the porch stair of the building from the place where I sat. I could smell the fresh green pine leaves, reminded me of the pine forest framed the Imperial Colony. It gave me the goose bumps that dad's death brought to my attention again. So, I opened my eyes when at the same time Iron called me,
"'Nell… how long have you been waiting here? Sorry we're late. There's someone I want you to meet…" Iron's head was pointed at the direction of another taller lad.
He was around six, maybe six one or six two, I couldn't measure him because he was so tall that everyone would scout him just by walking among people. Most men in the Main Land were about five ten to five eleven. He was away taller than that. Walking beside iron, of course he'd stand out, even in the crowd.
