Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

When we pulled into the parking lot at the school. Alex parked in a spot and he turned off the truck and got out and came over and opened my door and helped me out. That is when a little girl about 12 years old bounces up to me and Alex.

"Who is this, bubby?" She asked looking at Alex.

"This is Katylin. She is my mate and the pack's new Luna." He said to the girl. She smiled up at me.

"I'm Clair. Alex's sister," she said sweetly. Clair hugged me and skipped away. I smiled to myself and looked at Alex.

"Shall we?" he asked, motioning to the school. I took a deep breath and nodded. He took my hand as we walked to school. When we entered, I saw Bela and Hannah at my locker. I walked over to them.

"Hello, guys," I said in my normal cheery voice. Hannah growled softly and Bela's face said what she was thinking. "Yes, we already made it official," I said softly. I heard Bela sigh softly. Hannah growled again.

"This means you are out of our pack and banished from our land. Blake is not going to be happy." Hannah said turning and pulling a very sad Bela behind her. I sighed and turned to see Alex standing there looking at me with sad eyes.

"I know this is hard for you, Kat. I wish I could fix this all." Alex said with a soft voice. I just opened my locker and grabbed my books and closed it.

"I chose this when I left the club with you. I knew this would happen at some point in my life." I spoke honestly. "I knew I would leave Shadow Pack at some point in my life." Alex just looked at me and I smiled softly.

"Are you happy?" he asked me softly. I looked up at him and nodded.

"I am very happy to be your Luna," I said, moving closer to him to kiss his lips gently. The bell rang and we hurried to class. I walked in as the second bell rang and looked around. Blake was sitting in the seat next to the only open one and I walked over and plopped down. He looked at me and growled softly.

"You let that mutt mate with you?" he growled.

"He is my mate of course I did," I growled back looking at the teacher as he opened with a question. Blake and I knew she nor the rest of our classmates could hear us.

"He is still a mutt. Kat just come home. We can clean the scent off you. I know he has not marked you because his scent is not that strong on you." Blake whispered to me. My mind went blank. Alex and I had not marked each other. How could I have missed that? We mated but we did not mark each other.

"He is not a mutt and we are saving that for a special moment in our relationship." I lied and wrote down a note the teacher had put on the board. Blake made a scoffing sound and I growled. "Look Blake I am a Luna now. Yes, our packs are rivals, but I still demand respect." I rose, not giving him time to respond, and left the room as the bell rang. When I exited the classroom, I bumped into Kyle.

"Oh sorry, Kat." He said softly. I looked up at him and nodded.

"All is well Kyle. You did not mean it and I did not mean it. I hope to see you around." I said stepping aside and moving to my next class. The rest of the morning was the same until lunch. I walked into the cafeteria and sighed. I knew I could not sit with Bela and my old pack mates, so I looked for Alex. I had never seen him or really any of his pack mates at lunch. Most of his pack went to another school. So that made sense. I walked over to an empty table and sat down.

"Oh, look the traitor is all alone." I heard Karen's bitchy voice reach my ears. I just ignored her and finished my lunch. "Poor mutt lover," I growled at those words and rose. I walked over to her and the few pack members I did not like and growled.

"Look, Karen, you have no right talking to me or about my mate like that. I allowed you to step into my pack. Yes, it was mine. My family is alphas. I gave it up because I do not want it. That is the only reason a bitch like you is the Luna of my pack. So, watch yourself or I will remove you." My words seemed to slap her across the face, and she shut up. I left the cafeteria and went to my next class. The rest of the day was the same glares and whispers from my old pack. At the end of the day, I looked for Alex but could not find him. I went to the parking lot as his truck was gone. I sighed and looked around and saw my car in a spot on the windshield there was a note:

Kat,

Sorry, I left because I had a pack emergency. I will be home by the time you get home. Please forgive me.

Love,

Alex

I smiled to myself and got in my car. As I pulled out of the school parking lot it dawned on me 'How on earth did Alex get my car?' I shrugged it off and drove to my new house. As I pulled in, I noticed Alex's truck was parked and full of boxes. I got out and went to the door as I opened it, I got a breeze of air that smelt like several other wolves. 'Oh great.' I thought to myself and walked into the house.

I took a deep breath before I opened the door and walked it. I heard people talking as I walked down the hall to the living room. When entered the room it grew silent. All eyes were on me. My eyes searched for Alex.

"Kat!" I heard Alex sound happy. I turned to see him walking out of the kitchen. A smile made its way to my face as Alex walked up to me.

"Alex." I breathe in relief. He wrapped me in his arms and hugged me.

"The pack is all here for you to meet," he said, gesturing to the large crowd of people. There had to be more than twenty people in Alex's large living room. My eyes scanned the room and I saw two or three people I recognized from school. The rest of the people were strangers. They were all clustered in small groups. Almost like they were in their ranks, but that was silly to think because the pack is supposed to be like a big family. I looked up at Alex as he smiled down at me. I could feel all the eyes on me and him. Some of the eyes were approving and others were disapproving. I took a deep breath and stepped forward, with Alex by my side.
