There was an earth shaking and eardrum shattering scream from the siren queen and then everything went still, the sirens started shaking vigorously and started turning into ash and dissapeared with the wind.
The soldiers that were drowning themselves were brought out from their trance and started making their way out of the lake. Damian's usual schooled expression shifted a bit at the sight of Andronika laying still on the floor he checked her pulse and was relieved to see that she was still alive. He carried her into their tent and assigned a maid and doctor to look after her while he had a word with the soldiers.
Doctor Sullivan was an old friend of Damian and Lucian and was a terrific doctor, unlike Damian and Lucian who were full vampires, he was a halfling. Half human Half vampire.
While Sullivan was taking care of Andronika , Damian was spitting fire at his men for their incompetence, he knew it wasn't their fault but the image of Andronika in a pool of blood was still fresh in his mind and he clenched his fist then walked away.
Everyone went to bed that night with their guards up, Damian walked into the tent he shared with Andronika and saw her sleeping peacefully and breathing steadily.
He looked at her and a strange glint flashed through his eyes, he shut his eyes and walked out of the tent.
"Lucian ", he called and from the shadows Lucian emerged. Damian, we can't protect her anymore she was better off in the house of the Samaras, said Lucian.
Damian shot him a sharp glare and said, " they treated her like trash there, you were the only thing stopping me from going there to get her, they crossed the line when they tried to sell her, that was the height of it. Do you know that if Balthazar found out she was there those monsters were sell her to hin without a thought, she is safer with me ".
Damian, we both know they are the only reason she's still alive, Balthazar knows she's with us now, so we have to be more careful, Lucian said.
Did she see anything from the past, Damian asked. Just some fragments, the ones I allowed her to see, Lucian replied. Good, said Damian.
How is she now, Lucian asked. She's stable, you can visit her tomorrow, I'm sure she would love to see you, Damian replied in a voice laced with annoyance. A small smile etched on Lucian's face and then just like that he dissapeared.
Damian stayed outside for a bit, before retiring to bed.
