Chapter 27 - Neferet's Memories (1)

Watching the beast rise slowly to its feet, Brian asked, "I need my spear to kill him. Can you give me a chance?"

Listening to Brian's gruff voice, he speaks in a relaxed, low tone. The beast stood up slowly, blinking as thick black blood began to fall from its wounds.

Coming out of his eye and the different cuts Brian had given it. Looking at the beast, Neferet said, "I can give you a chance to neutralize one of the arms. You can do whatever you want there."

With a big smile, Brian said, "Yes, ma'am."

Neferet looked at Brian and thought she saw him for a few moments before he jumped back into the circle of fire.

That his fangs glowed the same burgundy the same way as his eyes, spinning rapidly, Neferet recalled the first night by repeating his movement.

She made a pulley with a tree as a base, taking one of the creature's arms before it could fully sit up, pulling it back, causing it to fall to the ground with its face on the ground.

Her heart was pounding, remembering the sound of the cracks. But this time, the cracking sound did not come, only distant blows and then a loud howl of pain.

The force with which she pulled propelled her forward and released her grip, and she turned to look.

Brian jumped into the circle of yellow fire as Neferet's bandages latched onto the beast's arm and pulled it back.

The beast fell to the ground, leaping. Brian spun in the air, blazing his flame, making his sword glow brightly as burgundy fire surrounded it.

Landing on the beast's arm, Brian cut it close to the beast's elbow, then hit the ground, and, leaping with speed, he pulled the spear from the beast's shoulder and jumped back out of the circle of fire.

Neferet watched the beast writhing in pain as she could feel a scent coming to her, but it was no supernatural scent.

It was a smell of blood, urine, hair, and burning flesh. While the beast writhed, Brian came out of the trees, sheeting the sword while he held the spear with his left arm.

At that moment, he could see Brian illuminated by the yellow flames, his eyes shone with intensity, but his skin was beginning to redden a little while several pearls of sweat began to form on his forehead and neck.

Letting out the air forcefully. Brian returned to hold his spear with both hands and, bending his knees, pointed it at the beast slightly, jumping again as the beast squirmed. Brian drove his spear through the beast's foot through to its small knee.

Leaping out onto the path, Neferet bound the creature with her fiery bandages.

Holding the beast's waist, trying to hold it still so Brian could get the spear out of him.

The creature bent its hip, bending its good knee and kicking at Brian with a crunch followed by a shriek.

Brian flew off with his spear in his hands while a part of the beast's foot dangled from the tip of the spear.

Neferet heard a loud explosion behind her, and a great cloud of smoke rose from the trees.

The beast managed to free itself and rolled down the path. Distracted by the explosion, Neferet didn't notice until the huge body of the creature hit her, dragging her down the path.

With difficulty, Brian stood up while screaming, "Neferet!!"

A great harpoon of blue fire approached Brian from the cloud of smoke. Brian wasn't fully up when he caught sight of him. Turning his body, Brian tried to cover his chest with his arm and knee. However, the impact of that harpoon sent him flying into the trees.

The battle against Nicolas's group was over, leaving some wounded.

The night was still beginning, and now Neferet was completely alone with the beast, walking away from her group while Brian and Armin's status was uncertain.

The sun was shining overhead, and a gentle breeze swayed the palm trees, the breeze coming down the river gave the studio a cool feel.

The spacious study had large shelves full of books on all the walls, and a large black chalkboard hung on one wall.

A man was walking slowly in front of the blackboard while he was carrying a book in his hands.

The shaven-headed, dark-skinned man wore a flowing white robe as he walked slowly, stopping a few times to write a symbol on the blackboard, then looking directly at a much smaller Neferet, he said with a smile, "Miss, you are already five years old. You must officially start your training."

The man closed the book he was carrying and, lowering it said, "I imagine you can tell me the myth of the three brothers, right?"

Neferet looked around, and she was in the study of the house where she spent her childhood.

In a small but luxurious house on the outskirts of her home kingdom, in that house of hers, her education began, and before, she was the man who had guided her in her first steps.

Looking at her were her uncle's brown eyes, even though the man was looking at her with a stern expression and without smiling at her.

Her eyes gave him a bright, happy look. Swallowing, Neferet opened her mouth, she wanted to ask what had happened, and she wanted to ask about the island, about the beast, and about Brian.

But the voice she had before her voice started to change, sweet but shrill. She said, "The story of the three brothers is easy, uncle."

Her childish voice did not stop, and she could feel a smile on her face, "It tells the story of the last survivors of the first kingdom of men. The story tells of how two brothers and one sister survived a dragon attack. Filled with a desire for revenge, the three set out on a journey to the dragon's cave. And when they arrived, they found him sleeping, the brothers could not kill the dragon because its scales were very hard, but in its mouth, the dragon had the fire that it used to make its atrocious spells, so the brothers put their hands in the dragon's mouth. But since they couldn't get the fire out, they divided the work."
