Chapter 29 - Neferet vs The Beast

Neferet's bracers began to glow a deep yellow. Her nails flashed as if her fingers were on fire, and her eyes lit up in the dark like two bonfires.

Despite not seeing it clearly, Neferet could see the figure of the beast standing in front of her.

Remembering the teachings of her uncle Neferet, she distanced herself by taking a half step back and bending her knees slightly.

She tossed one of her bandages into the air, lighting up the narrow hallway, the sight of the beast bleeding the strange, thick, smoky substance.

That made Neferet's heart flutter, seeing the beast missing one of its legs and half of one of its arms.

Beneath the creature was a pool of black substance that covered the beast in thick smoke.

Gathering as much flame as she could into her right arm, Neferet twisted her arm around as she whispered, "Push."

She gave a small jump forward as the flaming bandage she had released went out, leaving a small yellowish trail in the air. She swung out with her right hand.

A gust of yellowish air came out of her fist. As her bracer coiled yellow, the gust of air blasted against the creature's healthy leg.

Jumping, wrapped in her smoke that gave off a stench of rust and putrefaction, she turned, suspending herself in the air, supporting all her extremities against the walls of the corridor.

The beast jumped towards Neferet with its mouth open, and limbs were thrown back. Neferet quickly threw herself to the ground, spinning on her back.

Falling into the steaming puddle for a few seconds, Neferet began to lose consciousness, feeling vomit creep up her throat. Neferet placed her hands on her chest, wrapping herself in the flaming bandages clearing the smoke and beginning to burn the blood under her feet.

Backing up a little, the beast let out a roar and then propelled itself with its good leg and its severed arm, throwing a strong swipe in the direction of the girl.

Neferet, with a cloudy vision, saw the huge black mass approaching and screamed loudly, "Push!"

The bandages that swirled around her burning blood came together in the spring, propelling her through the air and sending out a wave of hot, yellowish air.

Taking a deep breath of clean air, Neferet tied one of her bandages to one of the rocks that formed the drop and used it as a swing to launch herself onto the creature.

Seeing how the girl came toward him, the beast threw himself on the ground with his mouth open, stretching with his limbs making a bridge with his back.

Neferet turned in the air making the bandages that held her disappear. Turning in the air, she threw the two bandages holding her by the two sharp teeth of the beast.

Following the fall, Neferet fell rolling on the floor, pulling two teeth from the beast, which between groans, dropped to the floor and began to struggle with the girl to free herself from the girl's grasp.

Throwing over his back, the beast pulled hard while Neferet pulled at the beast's teeth, clinging tightly to the flames.

Her hands began to burn as the flames lit up the hallway with intensity.

Half-opening her eyes, Neferet watched as the beast, with its bleeding, bloodshot eye, stared up at the flaming bandages as a terrified, pitiful shriek was followed by a roar accompanied by a scream of pain.

Neferet fell on her butt while the beast's teeth fell to the ground producing a tinkle,

Quickly Neferet got up, seeing how the beast covered the upper part of his mouth from where the black and steaming substance gushed.

Recalling the beast's nervous, bloodshot gaze, Neferet took a step back in thought, "Run away, and please run away."

While he looked at the creature's teeth, the sky cleared, letting the moon enter through the trees and illuminating the corridor a little.

Seeing how the beast tried to cover its wound with its severed arm, she thought as she got back into position, "The teeth, if I remove all of the top ones, will bleed and cover his vision. That is my chance."

Feeling the pain in her legs and sides, the girl began to breathe heavily while pointing at the creature with her hands illuminated by the yellow glows, while thinking, "I can pull and push."

Neferet looked at the beast's wounds and remembered the pistol that hung from her waist. She thought, "I only have one shot, and I can't do anything against a physical beast. If I were a terror, I could fight better."

Neferet's temple began to burn from the effort and use of her flames. As she stared at the beast's gleaming teeth, she kept pleading for it to back off.

On her left hand, she began to gather the bandages as she lowered her hand, making a flaming ball. Neferet raised her voice, saying, "I don't know if you can understand me, but if you leave, I won't. Attack you!!"

Her mind wouldn't stop working while the pain grew.

"I don't have much fire before the recoil hits me."

Looking at the beast that backed away and shrank pitifully, she thought, "I have to knock its teeth down and have enough fire to be able to scale the wall."

The beast stared at Neferet as it slowly limped back. Between screeches and groans, the beast slowly moved away.

With a faint smile, Neferet lowered her right hand and, relaxing her position, stared at the beast.

Giving a loud roar, the beast leaped at the girl, waving its severed arm in a spray of steaming black blood.

Neferet was backing away quickly. She tossed the ball of flaming bandages to the top of the beast and hurled a swift blow into the air with her right hand, creating a gust of air.

The fireball impacted with the beast's teeth hitting them, while Neferet regained her balance by running with her body under her step under the beast that began to thrash and writhe and slammed to the ground.

Between shakes, the beast hit its mouth against the floor with its arms trying to put out the fire. Sweating, Neferet looked up and then said with a smile, "I gave you a chance."

She closed her hands, placing them in a prayer position, while with her eyes closed, her eyelashes were covered with intense yellow color.

While she said, "Desert snakes, pull my enemy."

Neferet's flames became many bandages that landed on her hands. Twisting her hips hard, she pulled the bandages pulling the beast's teeth out, and they fell to the ground as she collapsed with her back to the beast.

Her flames had been completely extinguished, and she, being illuminated only by the moon, sat on her knees while she was closing one eye, looking at the beast wallowing in the thick black smoke between screams.

Neferet said while drawing a delicate smile, "Your turn…."

A burgundy flash fell from the sky in the direction of the beast, but missing it crashed to the ground.

Engulfed by the beast's smoke and darkness, Brian stood up, snapping his teeth as he said, "I miss, this bastard won't stop squirming."

Brian stood firm between Neferet and the beast, looking at the beast shrouded in smoke.

While the girl sighed, leaning on one of her hands on the floor, sitting on her knees, and slowly turning her head. Brian said with a smile, "Are you okay?"
