"The first time I met him was two weeks after I lived at Grandma's house. He returned with a bunch of daily necessities because Grandma asked him to go to the city to buy some daily necessities a few days before I came. However, when he wasn't around, Grandma kept telling me how capable Vincent was and how convenient life was with him by her side.
After that, I happened to see his skills once, so I begged Grandma to let him teach me how to protect myself.
Vincent gladly accepted my grandma's request.
Since then, I'd been training with Vincent every afternoon. I asked Vincent to help me improve and optimize my movements, making them smoother and more powerful.
Vincent taught me how to make good use of my advantages, allowing me to control my body more easily and naturally. But, of course, I wasn't the only one who improved; Emily did too. Her beast instinct was more accurate, and her reactions were faster.
After training with Vincent for almost a year, I could now play well with him, who was twice as strong as me.
At least I wasn't defeated in two or three moves as I did at the beginning.
Days like this didn't last long. Just like usual in the afternoon, after I finished Vincent's training, Grandma came to me with food and water as I rested on the grass. But today was a little different.
"Betty, my dear, your brother is waiting for you on the phone." She handed me a sandwich.
Hearing this, I quickly got up from the grass and said in shock, "Andy? Why would he call me?"
I walked into the house in confusion and picked up the phone. "Hello? Andy?"
"Betty." Andy's voice was more serious and steadier than usual.
"It's me. What's wrong? What is happening? Why did you call me?" I mumbled as I chewed on my sandwich.
I suddenly remembered that my father had not contacted me recently, so I asked, "Where's Dad? Is he by your side? He hasn't called me in a long time."
There was a long pause on the other end of the phone.
"Dad is missing," Andy spoke calmly, but I could hear Mom's sobbing.
I was frightened by Andy's words. The sandwich I had just taken a few bites of fell to the ground. However, my attention was focused on Andy's words.
"How is that possible? Tell me you're not joking." I was perplexed, but when I thought about how Dad hadn't contacted me like before, I felt uneasy.
"I can't explain it over the phone." Andy paused for a moment as if he was considering what to say next. Then, after a few seconds, he continued, "Betty, I need you now. Come back, come home."
I had mixed feelings in my heart and didn't know what to say for a while. I could only say to Andy, "I'll talk to Grandma about this. "
After I hung up, I was very conflicted. After I returned home, I still had to face Simon, who had abandoned me, and his new partner. Mother's call told me how they were doing recently. I knew they were very sweet and loving, and I felt very uncomfortable.
Besides, my relationship with Mom wasn't great either. We were always quarreling.
After Grandma was done with her work, I told her the news. She seemed shocked and sad. Finally, however, Grandma looked at me, who was also at a loss, and took a deep breath.
She patted my head and said, "It's okay. He's just missing. It doesn't mean anything. Let's go back together."
"Do you want to go back with me?"
"Of course, I'm worried about you guys."
The following day, we bid Vincent farewell.
He wanted to come with us, but Grandma said that if he came with us, no one would be able to take care of her courtyard, and the delicious apple pie would also be gone. So, she made him stay and take care of her courtyard. The reward was that she would make delicious apple pie for him when she returned.
After we said goodbye, we got into Grandma's car. The convertible I had looked down on brought Grandma, a pile of luggage, and me.
It was inconvenient for Grandma to chat with me while driving, so I looked at the scenery outside the car. My heart was a mess. I was worried about Dad and didn't know what to do when I had to face Mom and my ex.
"We're different now, Betty. We're no longer weak," Emily suddenly said.
"You're right. We're different now. Besides, we still have Grandma to keep us company." My restless heart gradually calmed down.
After a few hours of driving, we finally arrived near the pack. I scanned the area and noticed that most patrolling wolves were unfamiliar faces.
The leader of the patrol team, a wolf, noticed us and walked over to us. "What is it? What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to visit my relatives. My family is inside. My brother's a Beta of the pack." I could only answer honestly.
"Sammy?"
"No. Andy." I was confused.
When the leader heard this answer, he gave us a sympathetic look and asked his companions to let us through.
It was already evening when I arrived at my house. I looked at the empty pack and felt confused. All I wanted to know was what had happened.
After Grandma parked the car, I carried my luggage and knocked on the door.
