While in a daze, I heard some sizzling, and then the aroma of the food filled my nostrils. I struggled to sit up from the bed, swallowed my drool, and my stomach was gurgling at the right time.
At this moment, a bird passed by the window. Its shadow cast upon my face through the sun. I looked at its gradually disappearing figure, and my thoughts also drifted out of the window...
My long-term boyfriend was not my fate mate. I looked at the scenery outside the window and comforted myself, but my heart ached and felt uncomfortable. Mother and Brother were right. There were risks to dating another wolf, especially an Alpha or a wolf about to become an Alpha.
And my boyfriend Simon was a wolf about to become an Alpha. This risk was comparable to eating a bag of poisonous chips, and obviously, I had lost the bet. I ate the poisonous chip, and it was game over.
It was just an ordinary and lively party as usual, but the appearance of that mysterious woman made it not so ordinary.
I started to recall the party last night.
As soon as I walked into the party, Simon and his close friends, Allen and Edmund, met and chatted. As usual, I ordered an apple martini cocktail and walked over to my friends, chatting with them about recent gossip and enjoying the party's lively atmosphere.
"Hey, Betty, how have you been?" Yurika laughed and pushed her honey-colored hair behind her head.
"Fine." I swirled the wine glass and looked at the clear white wine. I downed it all in one go and placed the empty glass on the tray in one of the hands of the waiters, constantly shuttling back and forth in the crowd.
"No, baby, I'm talking about you and Simon." Yurika held my hand and said with a hint of awkwardness.
"Oh, you know I'm not a shy girl." I held Yurika's hand and walked forward. "Before we entered the party, I shared a sweet kiss with Simon."
"Uh-huh, that sounds sweet." Yurika touched her lips and said.
"That's a really good feeling. You can try it with a boyfriend." After I finished, I winked at Yurika.
After Simon finished talking with his friends, he returned to my side and listened to my conversation with Yurika.
Suddenly, there was a commotion in the crowd. I saw a blonde, blue-eyed, long-legged beauty walking out of the pool in a bikini. It was not an exaggeration to say that I even heard the sound of exclamations and gulping in the crowd. At this moment, Simon whispered, "Do you smell something nice?"
I felt the scenery around me begin to collapse, and my world was left with only silence.
Following that, I saw Simon and that mysterious woman lock gazes. Just like in some terrible romantic movie, Simon walked into that woman's arms.
My mind was a mess. I couldn't hear anything and couldn't focus on anyone's face. So I looked straight at the two people.
I could feel my entire body trembling, and my brain was trying its best to process what was happening.
Oh god, this was not a funny joke.
Simon, my boyfriend, found his fated mate, and that person was not me!
When my heart started to cry because of this, my wolf, Emily, was furious!
Ignoring people's gazes at me, I ran out of the party madly into the night. My lungs lacked oxygen due to the intense activity, and I needed to cry.
I couldn't control my tears falling from my eyes and sliding down my cheeks. I wanted to escape from this for the time being. I planned to let Emily take over our bodies and make her promise that she wouldn't lose control and beat Simon up.
Emily kept running with me, and time flew by, but I didn't care.
I suddenly regained my senses when I saw the familiar little lantern hanging outside my grandmother's house and asked Emily, "You brought me to my grandmother's house?"
"I don't want to go home. We won't go back." Emily shouted at me. She was still angry that I didn't allow her to beat Simon up.
After that, Grandma heard a knock on the door and opened it to see my sorry state. She didn't ask anything and quickly let me in for a hot bath.
"If there's anything, we can talk about it after we wake up." Grandma could see that I was in a difficult situation. She smiled and touched my head. Then, she took me into my room and comforted me so I could lie on the soft bed.
After that, Grandma covered me with the blanket and kissed my forehead. "Have a good night's sleep, sweetheart."
After a long period of intense exercise and being distracted, I felt exhausted. My consciousness gradually fell into quiet darkness.
Now I think about it, running away from a party without saying a word was as childish as any completely irrational teenage girl. It was an embarrassing thing. I rubbed my messy hair and became irritated.
