Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"I never thought I would see something like that in person…"

Wulfric glanced up from the form laying across from him. After she had collapsed, Markus had the guards bundle the woman into the carriage, where he'd made sure she was comfortable. They quickly got the carriages on their way again so she could be properly looked at when they made it back to the estate. Now Markus and Wulfric were seated across from her, allowing them to keep a proper eye on her state as they traveled.

Wulfric turned to look at Markus, saying, "See something like what happen in person?"

"An Imprint. They are quite uncommon to begin with and most Humans never get to see one at all."

Wulfric sighed, "Which means she is not Human."

Moments like this were a common reminder that he was not Human, but a Vampire of the energy feeding kind. He stared at her again, "She is not a Vampire either."

"I think she is a Half-Blood. I would guess Elfish and Human."

Wulfric turned to Markus with a questioning look.

"As you know, a full-blooded Human cannot Imprint, so she is very likely a Half-Blood. From the color of her eyes, I would guess Elfish. They are an extremely rare green. I also believe that when she has been properly brought back to health there will be other characteristics that will show her Elfish side. Until then I cannot be completely certain, but that is where I am placing my cards."

Wulfric nodded. The Imprinting part was true. Imprinting in any species was quite rare, but it was even more so for there to be a cross-species Imprintation. Not that any of it mattered right now.

"I want to know what happened to her. Or even who she is."

"As do I," said Markus. "It will take some time to find out everything if we ever do. I believe some of her injuries are a lot worse than they appear, both physically and mentally. We will have to take our time getting her on her feet."

"God, her feet."

"I know. She must have been running for some time. Poor thing."

They both sat in silence for a short while, watching her breathe.

"Wulfric, what are you going to do? She is young. You are her senior by many centuries, and we do not know how she will react to the Imprintation. She might not even know what it is."

"I will handle it when the time comes. For now, she will be considered my ward until more can be found out about her."
