It wasn't like Kai didn't know this moment was going to come. He did, but he didn't know that he would feel so scared. And as much as he wanted to run away, he couldn't. So many people are counting on him, and can't just let them down by being a coward.
"Well, well, well. We meet again." Fong Woo said. A brisk cockiness in his voice.
The two Prospectors were on their way to meet up with the other Cultivators at the Winter Sect kingdom, because it was the only kingdom that Fong Woo hadn't attacked. They were going to come up with a plan to stop Fong Woo, even though he didn't have the Dark Moon orb anymore. His Cultivation abilities are still great. And furthermore, he has Feng Gao as an accomplice. And Feng Gao was no amiteure when it comes to his abilities. And even though Kai had the orb in his position, the danger hadn't passed. The duo had to be restrained or else they won't stop coming until they take the orb from the Prospectors and rip the lotus aura from Kai's core. So king Huang Bao had informed Qing Yuan to come back home, ensuring that Kai was safe along the journey. But they were ambushed a couple miles from the kingdom. Fong Woo's men come out from every corner of the woods, blades aim out at the two young Prospectors. As they watch on as the two maniacs laugh their heads off in front of them.
Qing Yuan scowls at the two men infront of him. His instinct to protect Kai kicked in. He studied around him for a few seconds, before pushing Kai behind him. And took out Fong Woo's men with a blast of transparent energy. Sending them flying in the direction of the woods.
"Are you ok Kai?" He looked to his beloved, his hands itching to hug him when he saw the look of anxiousness on the younger's face.
Kai didn't answer, he heard Shui and he wanted to answer, but his mind wouldn't let him. He just kept thinking that this moment was going to be his last. If he is going to fail, and in order to protect him, Qing Yuan will lose his life. Are the others going to realise something is wrong, and when they find them. Him and Qing Yuan, they will be dead and Gao and Woo took the orb and lotus aura. Those are all the negativities swimming around in Kai's head. His hope of winning this battle is dimming every second.
He was so caught up in his thoughts, that he didn't even notice the fight happening around him. It was until Qing Yuan skidd up to him, holding his side that was now stained red, that Kai had finally noticed his surroundings. Men lying on the ground, either badly injured or dead.
"You put up a great fight, but you can't protect your little thing forever." Qing Yuan sneered at Feng Gao, which made Gao smirk at how his little remark affected the young prince.
"Enough of your taunting Gao!" Fong Woo shouted to get Gao's attention. His mouth blooded as he removed a piece of tree branch from his leg. "Give me the orb." He growled lowly at Kai. "Give me the orb!" He yelled, startling Kai a bit. Fong Woo advanced at Kai relatively fast. His hand glowing with red energy, ready to strike down Kai. But as he throws the glowing red ball, a sword slices the energy in two. And a whole army of Cultivators came charging from the woods.
Everywhere Kai turns, sword clashes, powers flying and hand to hand combat happening. Kai slide, dodge and duck. Trying not to get hit. He had lost Qing Yuan the first minute the battle started, and he had yet to find him or anybody else he knew. The orb pulsed in his sleeve, causing tingles like electric shocks rock his body. He grit his teeth, trying to fight off the burning sensation as he slips the orb from out of his sleeve. He stared down at the black object of destruction, his hands now shaking violently and the pulsing got stronger. Kai's breathing got shallow, and it felt like his head was about to split apart.
"Kai, watch out!" He heard someone yell, before a sound of fire colliding with something could be heard and then the smell of burning flesh. Kai quickly turned around and saw his father, Wang Feng-Huang on the ground. His garments ripped away, and his abdomen sizzled from a burn wound. And Feng Gao a few feets away laughed, as he rubbed his fingers together, sparks flying as he did so.
"Surrender now, and I promised that we will go easy on you." Kai gasped and started walking backwards, his eyes held fear as he looked to the side of him and saw Fong Woo creeping up on him, while Feng Gao stalked him like a predator.
"You are far away from everybody else, so why not give up." A smug smile made its way into Woo's lips when Kai had looked around and saw that he was now deeper into the woods and away from the battle ground.
Kai's back hit a tree, signaling that he is cornered by the two accomplices. He started to sweat, and he can feel his body getting numb with fear. The orb pulsing became even more stronger, that even Woo and Gao noticed. A smile both on their faces.
"Gao, can't you just feel the power radiating off him? The Lotus aura in him is trying to balance out the power of the orb. If I can just get my hands on-"
"Enough of this foolery, give it to me you brat!" Feng Gao ran up to Kai, his palm out as he sent Kai flying backwards into the trees, ripping them from their roots.
