Chapter 56 - Episode Fifty Six

One of the greatest fear in life is loosing someone dearest to you. But what is life without lost, especially when you are a resident in a world full with magic and evil maniacs.

Back at the Drogan's kingdom, Fong Woo and Feng Gao had made an escape. After Fong Woo went rampant when Kai had escaped. He had killed all the non cultivators who weren't able to escape in time, and it took almost all of the remaining Drogan's disciples to fight him off. But they did manage to restrain him, and almost had him in submission when Feng Gao created an explosion of dust. And when the dust cleared, Feng Gao along with Fong Woo and the remaining of his creatures were gone. Now the conference Hall is full of loud cries, the Wang children being the loudest as they crouch down around their mother's body. As Wang Guang looked on at his deceased wife in disbelief, before his eyes moved to her un beating that lay next to her. His body started to shake as he started to sob, clutching tightly as he cried into his junior brother's arms.

"Taio?" Shufen called over to his fellow disciples who were busy healing another disciple's wounds. Shufen's eyes trailed down Taio's body, to his foot that had a deep gash in it. But yet he ignored it, and treated others instead. Such a gentle soul with a kind heart, but only if he knew how much he is worth and stop running after someone who only has eyes for someone else.

"Yes?" The innocent, doe-eye looking disciple looks over at Shufen. Various emotions swirling in his usually bright eyes, and Shufen noticed a few being worry, sadness, sorrow, anger and…pain.

"You should check in with Kai and see how him and Huang Qing Yuan are doing." Those words made Taio perk up a bit, and a small bit of smile graced his lips. And Shufen couldn't help scoff a bit at Taio's action as he moves a bit closer to the grinning disciple.

A couple minutes had passed, and Taio still couldn't get a read on Kai's mind. "Try Huang Qing Yuan." Shufen has suggested, which made Taio stiffen. The thought of connecting with Shui's mind is nowhere any disciple wants to be. The guy isn't so fond of company, and doesn't let anyone in, except if he wants to. And furthermore, he wouldn't be too happy if he felt Taio trying to link their thoughts together to form a conversation. The young prince doesn't even care to start a conversation with him in person, especially knowing that Taio has a thing for Kai. Not a thing per say, but Taio is madly in love with him. So Taio knows what is good for his sanity and to avoid any contention, he will try to mind linking Kai again.

Taio scratched his head, and laughed sheepishly, looking over at king Huang Bao who is helping a distraught king Li Wei summing up the numerous bodies scattered around the conference Hall, before looking back at Shufen and said. "I will try and mind link Kai again." Shufen nodded, thinking that Taio's decision was best. After putting some thought into his suggestion. Qing Yuan is a really tough but to crack, and if Taio tries to reach out to him. It would surely cause some problems, especially where Kai is concerned. No offence to the young prince, but he is just not a people person.

"Do that then." Shufen muttered.

Taio tried again to reach Kai's mind, but failed. A worried expression crossed his face as he turned back to Shufen and shook his head. "Why isn't he responding? I only hope that he is alright." Taio whispers, but obviously May heard because she looked up from her mother's body and glared his way. Taking the young disciple aback.

"And who cares if he is alright or not, huh? Answer me! He is the whole cause of this, he is everything that has ever gone wrong in my life. Because of him my mother is dead, and no one is showing any sympathy to us. But here you are, worrying about that ungrateful bastard!"

"May, stop saying things like that." Wang Guang said to his daughter. His eyes were red and puffy from crying, but they held a bit of anger because of his daughter's words.

May laugh bitterly. "Why should I stop father, when what I am saying is all true. Every bad thing that ever happened to our family is because of him. Look around," she used her hand to point around the conference hall. "Every innocent person that had nothing to do with this cultivation nonsense got killed, including my mother. And you are defending Kai, when he is the root of it all."

"I am warning you May. You should show more compassion towards Kai, and remember that he is still your brother."

"Ha, brother? I have never considered him as a brother, just a blunt mistak-"

A slapping sound echoes throughout the conference hall, startling everyone. Including May as she held her stinging left cheek, and stared up unbelievably into her father's angry eyes.

"I told you to stop this, but no. You have been like this all these years, and I have put up with your attitude. But now I am tired of it!"

"I-"

"I don't want to hear anything you have to say. You are blaming Kai for what happened, but you are the one at fault!" Wang Guang shouted, not even letting May get a word in.

"How is all this my fault? Everytime Kai ruins anything, you always put the blame on me! I am the real victim here, because I was the one who was tricked into a marriage that was only a plan to get to Kai." May mumbled the last part. Her already puffy eyes filled with tears again, but they suddenly filled with anger. "I can never win when it comes to Kai. I finally thought I found my true happiness, but no. Everything has to revolve around him. If it wasn't for him, I would be married and planning out my lavish life for the future. And mother and all those people wouldn't have died. Feng Gao and i-"

"Would never have met." Another voice said, and May looked up and saw her so-called uncle smiling down at her. A look of pity and guilt on his face. Wang May arched her brows questioningly at him, and he took that as his cue to continue. "If I hadn't passed on my Lotus aura to Kai, none of this would've happened. You wouldn't have met Feng Gao, and your Mother and all who you have lost would be alive right now. And for that, I am truly sorry. And if I could go back into the past, I would have done things better. I would have found a more secure place to hide my beloved wife and Kai, and save you all the pain that you are feeling right now." Wang Feng-Huang turns to his senior brother, his lips quivering as he fights away his tears. "Senior brother, I am sorry for bringing trouble to your doorstep. I only asked you to look after Kai as if he was your own, but I was being selfish and now your wife is gone because of-"

"Don't regret your decision, because I don't regret accepting Kai as my son. He might have given me most of my grey hairs before time, but which young boy doesn't do that to their parents? And as for what happened here, it could have all been avoided if May had just listened to my warning!" He seethed as he turned and glared at his daughter.

Zhang looked up at his dad, his hand and clothes stained with his mother's blood. Curiosity caressed his brows, not understanding how May could have avoided all that happened. She didn't know that Feng Gao had other intentions, or did she?

"Father, what are you talking about? May couldn't have possibly known that Feng Gao…" his voice trailed off when the hall became silent and he looked around and saw the faces of all who were in the room. And then realisation down on him, and he looks at his junior sister. Hurt flashes inside his eyes, but it went as quickly as it came, and now replaced with malice. "You knew that he was no good."

"Yes she knew. After the others came back from the Winter Sect kingdom, they told me and your mother about Feng Gao's involvement with Fong Woo. And he is just marrying May to get to Kai. Sue-May and I were so shock, Feng Gao would do that to May, after acting like a gentleman. But that is what he was doing, he was only acting so his plan would be believable. It was so hard to believe, but why would the cultivators lie, especially the Prospectors who are known to tell the truth. But then I remembered the incident that happened in this very conference hall-"

"There is no need to bring that back up." King Li Wei chuckled nervously, looking from one Wang brother to the next.

"You don't want me to tell my brother that you accused his son of working with Fong Woo, and that your wife actually killed him." Wang Guang spat, not caring that Li Wei is his king. He is beyond angry right now, and anybody who decided to oppose him will feel his wrath.

Feng-Huang narrowed his eyes at Li Wei, and a look of displeasure crossed his face. Making the mighty king gulp and shrink back, almost hiding behind king Huang Bao.

"As I was saying, I remembered when young master Qing Yuan told me not to say anything about who Kai really is. He also told me that someone had tried to hurt Kai before, and they were in the room. I had spotted a mysterious figure lurking in the shadows, but I didn't see the person's face that well. But I should have remembered the body shape, that it was Feng Gao. Your mother and I told May all that we have heard, but she never listens. Saying we love Kai more than her, and that Kai can't be the only one who gets to move up to a higher status. And now, look what happened. So many innocent people had their life taken away, including my wife." Guang couldn't stop the sobs from letting free, and Feng-Huang pulled his older brother into his embrace. "And I don't know where Kai is." His cries echoes throughout the room, he pours out all his emotions in that one vulnerable moment. And Feng-Huang couldn't help but shed a few tears of his own. How could he not. He still felt guilty, because if it weren't for him. His brother's family wouldn't be caught up in the Cultivation world. And furthermore, he doesn't know where on Earth his son is. And by the look on Huang Bao's face, he can't reach Qing Yuan either. Maybe if he had found another way to his Lotus aura, maybe all this would have never happened.

'I would have my dear friend.' He looked at Huang Bao and Li Wei, as they smiled at him. Their voices seeped into his head. 'Fong Woo would have sought revenge for his father, and he would try at all cost to find your aura.' Li Wei thought.

'And it's my fault, it was my job to ensure that the Dark Moon orb was safely put away and guarded, but I failed.' Huang Bao bowed his head in shame.
