Kayla was shoved forward and into a large room that was sparsely furnished. A large desk, some chairs and what looked like a sofa. There were three doors around the room that led to places that she didn't know. Astor had pulled her along and she knew the way out. However he'd warned her from trying. Let's be honest, she wasn't going to make it anyways.
"Bring us a gift?" Someone in the room said moving forward. A tall man, he had solid black eyes and Kayla felt vulnerable with out a weapon. He moved forward as if to touch her, but Astor spoke first.
"She's not to be touched. Touch her for any reason other than stopping her from leaving I will kill you." The demon stopped where he was and gave a head nod.
"I will not have anyone fuck this up for me! I will not fail this time."
"So you think." Kayla said quietly. She didn't care, let him beat the shit out of her. She didn't want to be the reason that Savon preformed the ritual.
"She has fight." A female demon spoke. These two were stronger, she could feel it. They had been talking about Astor before they came in. How they didn't know if he was just keeping them around to be used. Stupid question in her opinion, of course he was.
"She is pretty for a human. Pleasant to look at." The man said. He backed up at Astor's look. "I won't touch her, I'm not stupid."
"Good." Astor said and took hold of Kayla's arm. He swung her around and shoved her back. "Sit." He ordered. Not that she had a choice with how he shoved her in the chair.
Kayla met his gaze. There was nothing in his eyes, they were dead. Bottomless pits of nothing, and that was what unnerved her. There was no emotion in them, no real emotion but the surface feeling. This was a being that lived for itself and would do whatever it wanted. She was truly looking at evil, at a monster.
"Tell me about Savon. I want to know what he can do." Kayla remained quiet, like she was going to tell him.
"Start talking or your stay will be painful."
"He won't cooperate if you harm me." Kayla commented. She knew that Savon had told him this. That and his mention of not touching her the moment that the others had looked at her.
"Physically I could cause damage that I could heal before he shows. Mentally is a different story, and no marks show with that kind of pain."
"There isn't anything to tell you." Kayla answered.
"You lie. You can't lie to me."
'I can if I believe it.' She thought to herself. He grabbed one of the chairs and put it in front of her facing her.
"Leave us." Astor said to them, and the two moved from the room quickly. Kayla's grey gaze met the yellowish green.
"Tell me about my son. I want to know what it is that seems to make him so special." Kayla just stared at him. There was more than one thing, and she wasn't going to share.
"I see what he likes in you. Spirit, your beautiful and intelligent. His human side is attracted to you, has marked you. However you are human, and could never really accept what he is. Humans can't stand their freedom being stripped and he would own you. He will grow bored of you and then what? There's nothing to defend, he can't love you."
"Shows how much you know." Kayla said to him.
"Do you really know what he is? What he can be?" Astor inquired.
"I know what I need too."
"I don't think that you do. I'll make sure that when he shows you appear the same as when I took you. However I'm still going to take you from him. It will crush the human part, the weak part and all that will be left is the acolyte and I control all that is dark in this world."
"He'll never be truly dark. You can't ever control him." Astor smiled.
"Really, and why would that be? What can he do that would stop me from controlling him?" Kayla eyed him. Clearly trying to manipulate her psychologically, his specialty. Kayla told herself not to fall for the trap and slip up and say something.
"You tell me, you've failed how many times now? He got away from you when he was what? Ten? How did it feel to know that a child out smarted you and defeated some of your strongest followers?" Astor was quiet for a minute, but Kayla saw the shift in his eye color to a bit brighter. She knew what he was doing he was trying to get her angry, to make her tell him things. Well two could play at that game.
"He is special, always has been. However I think that it is more than it looks. You I think he would feel, he could trust. His human side needing that comfort of someone to share with." Astor looked like it disgusted him. Kayla remained silent.
"I'll ask you to tell me what you know one more time." Astor said reaching behind him, to pull out what looked like a small switch blade. "Seeing that you weren't shocked by me telling you that he is my son, you know things about him."
"That doesn't prove that I know much. He is half acolyte, you are the only acolyte that I know of on this planet. Simple logical conclusion I got myself." He flicked out the blade, just watching her. Kayla stayed calm and hoped that he was just playing a physiological game with her. Somehow she doubted it.
"How is it that he is able to coexist with his acolyte so well?"
"You'll have to ask him that." She barely saw the movement and he jabbed the blade into her thigh and twisted, before pulling it out. Kayla gave a cry of pain. Her eyes tearing up from it, but she just clenched her jaw. The wound was very much like the one she'd given him.
"His acolyte." Astor said calmly, like nothing had happened. Kayla was breathing a little heavier through the pain in her leg.
"Ask him yourself." She managed to gasp out. He ran a finger over the flat of the blade and put it to his mouth, sucking it clean.
"Sweet, your taste is very rich. How many times has he given to you?" Kayla didn't see how that would matter. She wasn't going to give him anything, well she hoped that she could hold out. Getting stabbed multiple times was really going to test her.
"Not sure." Which was true, a couple of times perhaps. She tried to ignore her wound. The adrenaline in her helped. She figured he could taste it in her blood anyways.
"Do you know what I'm going to use him for?" Kayla's thigh was throbbing, but she could feel it starting to heal. Savon's blood was still running through her, still working. Astor glanced at it, noticing it.
"Going to bring more of your kind up." She said. "You're going to kill him." Another comment she was sure he was aware of. Nothing to give up there.
"Not if I can help it, he would be very useful. If he isn't controllable he is then expendable." He glanced down at her thigh.
"Healing. He has given more than once for it to stay in your system this way." He looked contemplative, watching her.
"Don't see how it matters what he's done to me." She responded.
"Savon will bring many acolytes up. He's powerful, that, I give him. I want to use him more than once. However if I can't, then I have to find a substitute for it." He looked like an idea had struck him. Kayla had a bad feeling about it.
"My kind do not have children easily. We are only given one child to have, unless they die."
"Good." Kayla said, the throbbing going down in her leg. Astor just looked at her, wiping the blade on his pant leg.
"Caren!" He suddenly shouted and a moment later the door opened and the female demon was there.
"Yes?"
"Bring me Jax, and Jillian." He ordered, she nodded and shut the door leaving.
"He can control humans." Astor said to her, but it was still a question.
"He hasn't said." At least she didn't remember him telling her that bit of info. He moved the blade so that the tip of it was against the side of her knee. If he stabbed her it would slide behind her knee cap. Kayla felt a bit of a cold sweat at the thought of that pain.
"If you cause me severe damage it won't heal, he will know. He's not going to do as you ask."
"He'll do it, my blood will work just as good as his." Kayla didn't want his blood in her, however he would do it if it meant he got what he wanted.
"He doesn't allow others to touch you correct?" That mattered because?
"I let who I want touch me." She said to him.
"He would kill any that did. You aren't a human that would allow that to happen. So the answer is yes."
"Why ask if you think you know the answer."
"Just figuring out your character. How you work around my questions to not give a straight answer. This is my specialty." He took his other hand and pressed his fingertips to the edge of her wound, still holding the blade to her knee.
"Is his other half fully acolyte?" Astor asked. It was the only thing he could think of for Savon to be as powerful as he was. Which would be a problem if it was. That part of him wouldn't be in Astor's control. The woman said nothing, she was determined to not give anything up.
Kayla made a cry of pain and jerked slightly, his fingers dug into her wound and so did his nails. It tore the skin that had been healing and made it worse. He tore the skin and into the muscle. She went to move away striking out, but he grabbed her wrist twisting almost to the breaking point.
"Answer my question or I'll cause you real pain." Astor said darkly, the hand that held her wrist had her blood on it, which ran onto her skin.
"I'm not sure..." He pressed the blade into her skin. It would be painful, horribly so for her if he cut into her knee and bone. There was a spike of fear from her, the smell felt like a tang on his tongue. She would taste so very good.
However he couldn't take from her, couldn't use his blood or Savon would know. So he was going to use Jax, one of those special humans. One that had a unique talent to heal, and Savon wouldn't know. He wouldn't put it past him to refuse. If he did touch her, take from her it would cause a slight change to her scent for a short time. Not something he could afford.
"Wait, please. I'm not sure what that means. He's half, how can he be fully anything?" She asked panicked.
"The marking on his body, when he was younger it was far more developed than it should be. Is it a full depiction of an acolyte?"
"I don't..." She gave another cry of pain as the blade dug a bit deeper and he turned it.
"Yes I think so." She said. Kayla didn't think she could do much if he destroyed her knee. How he thought she would be healed by the time Savon came...
"If he wanted, you would give him a child." Another statement that was a question. Kayla looked at him. That gave a rather sharp light to a couple of previous questions. This was not an avenue she wanted to explore, but clearly some thought was in Astor's eyes.
