One Week Back
Kiara had been noticing Rowland's weird behavior for the past year. She had tried to find out the reason but that boy was just too cunning.
It looked like Rowland was growing too strong and out of her control. He even dodged the spies she placed to follow him.
She had confronted Alpha Frederick about the issue but he seemed not to care.
"Kiara, stop stressing your beautiful brain on that boy. He is safe. Maybe he just found a hobby that relaxes his mind," Alpha Frederick said, drawing Kiara closer to himself."Why don't you worry about me instead?."
"He is still a child, Fred. What if he is being lured by our enemy pack?" Kiara asked in a fake worried tone.
"Enemy Pack? In my territory? Woman, are you underestimating my power to protect my people? Are you testing my patience or are you just trying to tell me I am not competent?" Alpha Frederick asked in annoyance.
Sometimes, this woman just makes him so angry. What he hates most is to be told he was an incompetent leader. He slaved all night to make his pack strong.
"That's not what I meant. All I am saying is we have to monitor his movements" Kiara hastily said.
"And I forbid it, Kiara. He is my son and I know what he is capable of. He is the future Alpha of this great Pack. He needs to encounter some things in life to make him stronger" Alpha Frederick said in an annoyed tone.
"But…", Kiara wanted to protest but she met the Alpha's angry eyes. His aura was overwhelmingly dangerous. She swallowed hard and brought her eyes down.
This was the reality of her pathetic life! This was why she was so eager to become Luna. He was still the alpha and she wasn't even Luna, yet.
Thus, she has no power over him. She would continue to cower under him and his son!
"Fred, I was just… "
"Kiara, can I have some peace? You know how stressed I am concerning the coming-of-age ceremony. It's my son's big day" Alpha Frederick said.
Kiara looked at Alpha Frederick and left the room in anger. No matter how much she tried, she can't seem to find a way to see what Rowland was up to.
And now even Rowland seems to favor him. Was it because he was of age and ready to become the next alpha? She can also give him a son too!
Or else she would automatically become nothing. She had tried all she could but she still couldn't get pregnant. Her biggest fear was Rowland finding a mate and giving birth to children.
Kiara was getting fed up as it is. Rowland changed so much that she no longer has power over him.
It surprises her that he doesn't flare at her as usual. Whenever she wants to anger him with his mother's memories, he just walks off. What could have hardened his heart and made him numb towards her?
Kiara knew Rowland was becoming more of a threat to her but she doesn't know how to curb that threat. Alpha Frederick had too much security around him. She needs to get rid of Rowland. She needs to find out what that brat has been up to all this while.
Kiara had hired experts to follow him for the past three months and the report was that he usually met up with a girl by the pond a few minute's walks outside the castle. She had to follow him discreetly.
She needs to destroy him before he becomes too powerful.
Kiara decided to go out by herself and find out what Rowland was up to with that girl. She made up her mind to find out the relationship between that peasant girl and Rowland. She needs every bit of information to bring Rowland down.
As she was sipping her tea in her cottage, she received a text message with the right information she needed.
Rowland was with the girl now at the pond forest. Her lackey also sent all the information regarding the girl.
Interesting, Kiara smirked as she got up ready to go and see those couples.
"Kiara, you need to be careful with that boy. How long before we are accepted? I wondered why Frederick is still stuck to Anna…I hate her and the son " her wolf spat out.
"Yeah, I know. Just be patient, Zira. We would soon rule this pack" she said as she shuts her wolf off.
Kiara dressed quickly and dashed into the forest. She doesn't want to change to her wolf because it will make her scent more distinct. She doesn't want to be noticed by Rowland.
She followed the description given by her lackeys. But she couldn't find the way. It seems Rowland had learned how to keep his scent hidden.
Kiara had been walking around the pond forest for more than an hour yet she still couldn't scent them. She wondered if her lackey was wrong about the description.
She brought out her phone and dialed a number angrily.
"Kenton, who the hell did you give my work to?" She growled at the person over the phone.
"Miss Kiara, tell me what happened?", The person over the phone replied.
"I can't fucking find them! Where are they in this pond forest? I followed all the coordinates yet I don't see any pond " She growled again.
Kiara had to control her wolf from exploding out. If not that Kenton was the only one she can entrust her work to, she would have ripped his neck off.
Kiara took a deep breath as she calmed her emotions and controlled her wolf, Zira.
"My bad, Kiara. I forgot to tell you that the brat used a concealable spell to conceal the pond from the sight of encroachers as he calls it. He sees that place as a place of refuge and…"
"Cut me those crap, Kenton, and tell me how I can get there!", Kiara said, gritting her teeth.
"Oh! That… I don't know. That's why we couldn't bring you any more information about their activities. We only saw them going in and coming out" Kenton replied.
"Are you seriously kidding me? I came all the way here for nothing?", Kiara screamed over the phone as she began to get angry.
"Well, I told you the last time but it seems you didn't listen…", Kenton tried to explain.
"I swear, Kenton. If you don't find a way for me to see those brats, I will kill you…and I am not kidding", Kiara said as she cut the call furiously.
She can't believe she came all the way here for nothing. She will surely kill that man!
