Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

"All right. If you intend to leave me be, then will you at least give me this night? After that, I will let you be so you can have your space."

"No. I need my space now. I can't understand you. So I tell you I want the truth, or I'm done, and all you can say is give you one more night? Why don't you just tell me the truth and get it over with? Do you really think it's so terrible that I won't want you? I am in love with you, damnit!" Dominique yelled and slapped her hand over her mouth.

I moved her hand from her mouth and kissed her. I kissed her with all the passion and love I possessed for her. I wanted her to feel it all. Now, not only did I think she was in love with me, but I knew for sure. I looked deep into her eyes as I wanted her to know that what I said was true.

"I love you too, Dominique."

"Then talk to me. If you truly love me, then I don't understand why you keep yourself hidden away from me."

"It's because I love you that I keep myself hidden away. You have to see everything before I can tell you the rest. Once you have, I can reveal all, and you will finally understand," I said as I pulled her against me.

Dominique's frustration with my answer was tangible. She started to pull back from me, so I took her hand and placed it on my chest so she could feel my heartbeat. I had to show her the rest of the story. I would give her that and see how she did with it.

I brushed my lips against hers and said, "Sleep."

She closed her eyes as I felt the fatigue set in. She stopped struggling and leaned against me. I held her tight as she fell into a deep sleep. I bent down and picked Dominique up. I laid her on the bed so she could dream. I took her things and set them on the floor. I was going to stay and ensure she didn't have another seizure. I laid down and pulled her into my arms. I could only stay until dawn drew near, but I hoped that was enough time.

I awoke for the night and found I had a text message from Dominique. She was asking me about the contracts. I texted her back to let her know I would come in and talk with her. While dealing with everything else, I had put the business deal on the back burner. I suppose it would help her get her mind off of other things. This also let me know that she had left my house when she woke up.

I went to the club and walked over to our table. Dominique was already sitting down, so I joined her. I smiled, and she smiled back. However, it wasn't a happy smile as it didn't reach her eyes. I wasn't sure why but she was nervous.

"Good evening, Dominique," I said as I kissed her hand.

"Hi. I wasn't sure about what was going on with the contracts, so I wanted to just clarify some things with you."

"Are you worried that I will back out on you?" I asked.

"Well, I wasn't really sure, so, maybe. I mean, I basically told you I was done as far as the relationship goes until you tell me everything. But are we still business partners?" Dominique asked.

"I told you before that I would invest, and I meant it. I have turned the contracts over to my lawyers. He should be calling you soon. Contracts have to be legitimized, and that takes some time. If you would like, I can give you my lawyer's card. He can discuss the details of the investment with you."

"I'd like that. Thank you."

I took my wallet out and took my lawyer's card out. I handed it to her, and she looked at it. She put it in her pocket, and we just sat there for a minute. I wasn't sure how to fix the uneasiness between us because I was planning on telling her everything. I had wanted to show her the end of the dream so that she would understand, but she had left my house.

"Dominique, I hope you were not serious when you said you were done. I do plan on telling you everything. I meant it when I said I loved you."

"And I meant what I said as well, Nathaniel. I just need some time to think things through. I have never been this confused in my life. Furthermore, you and Tim aren't making it any better. I need the truth, and I can't help but feel you two are hiding some major shit from me. I don't know what you two think of me, but I'm not stupid. I can tell you are both being secretive, and I don't like it. Just give me some space. When I'm ready, I'll let you know. If you are still around, then we can see how things go, okay?" Dominique asked.

"I'll be around, Dominique. I'm not going anywhere. For now, I will give you some space. Contact the lawyer. He will go over the details with you. I left you the controlling amount in your company so you can make any decision that you would like. I can't wait to see what you have done with it," I said and smiled.

I stood up and moved over to her side of the table. I bent down and kissed her cheek. She turned as she brushed her lips against mine and put her hand on my cheek. She put her forehead against mine and closed her eyes. Now she was not uneasy, but she felt sad. I couldn't understand as I was giving her what she was asking for. Once she was ready, I would show her the final dream and tell her the truth.

"Thank you for giving me some time," Dominique whispered.

"Always, my love," I said as I stepped back.

I left the club and didn't bother Dominique for two nights. I still watched her, though. She didn't know about it, so I was still technically giving her space. On the second night, I saw her come out with a suitcase and a small bag. Why had she put bags in her trunk? Was she going somewhere? She hadn't mentioned going anywhere to me. Of course, she hadn't spoken to me in two days. I watched her as she danced around her house. It brought a smile to my lips. How was I supposed to give her space? I had to tell her everything now before I lost her for good. She had seen enough to understand the connection between us when I told her.

She had seen what she thought was Rose's happy ending, but it hadn't been the end. Dominique had not seen the true ending to the story. But she would. I would show her the actual ending of it and then give her the choice of being with me forever. I was hoping she would choose me by herself, but instead, she had pushed me away. She was tired of waiting for me to tell her the truth. I'd give her a couple more days, and then I would invite her to my house so we could talk, and I would tell her everything then. I was tired of waiting.
