The town of night dale had been a calm place. Nothing dramatic had ever happened there that turned the heads. It was a perfect place for someone to go and hide.
As the Watson family made their way into town they hoped that they would stay there in peace with no drama. But peace didn't exist in the place that they were.
All they could do was turn the once calm town into a place they were unbearable.
As the cold breeze hit Katelyn's skin she held to her cardigan. Goosebumps had started to form on her skin and she wanted nothing more than to reach home.
The sky had turned gray and she could see the rain approaching. Everyone was walking in haste so that they could reach home before the rain hit.
The weather had been the same for days and she thought that maybe it was time for winter. If she had only thought of that in the morning before she left the house then she wouldn't have been cold.
She had gone to enroll in school.
She always wanted to have decent education but never got the chance to do it and maybe this was her one shot at that. No one would stop her now.
She did not want to admit that she felt a little bit nice that their father gas died. He has made their life miserable and there was no way they would escape from him if it wasn't for death.
They had not heard from their mother in decades to the point where she was dead to them. Who would abandon their kids with their narcissistic husband?
She knew that it was everyone for themselves but had she ever thought about what they would go through if she left them behind?
Their childhood had been the worst she did not even understand how they had survived. She mostly survived because of her brothers.
They always protected her even if it meant that they would risk their lives.
She felt water droplets on her skin and looked around for a place where she could shelter. Ironic that the day she decided not to walk with an umbrella it rained.
She saw a shed right ahead and hastened her pace as she went there. Thunder shit and she wondered how long it was going to rain.
It was already getting dark and she didn't want to walk in darkness when she was alone.
Was she scared? Maybe a little but there was nothing that could be thrown away that she couldn't handle. All she could do was wait a couple of minutes for the rain to subside so that she could leave.
Everything had given as Edmund had hoped. He had given the people hope so that they could be on his side. Just like the rich people used the money to get what they wanted he also offered them what they needed.
All Edmund needed was an army on his side. No matter how bad he loved wars he did not want to cause one. After days of working on the building, it was finally done.
They all loomed happy as they chatted and laughed away the evening. He had not seen Peter since the meeting and wondered what he was up to.
It was people like him that caused problems. He did not know what he was up to and could not just sit around and be unprepared.
Edmund had thought things were going to end up that way but he had not thought of how to handle the little problem. He looked outside the window and the clouds had turned dark.
It was going to rain soon and he wanted it I'm to find him safely at home. His work at the shelter was completed so he could just head home.
"I think it's about to rain so I'll head out ", he said to them as he walked out not even waiting for anyone to say something.
The days were better than he had imagined them to be. Most of all he loved the freedom that he now had. He always had to answer to their father but not anymore.
A normal person would think that his siblings hated him for killing their father but he knew they appreciated it. The man did not deserve any sympathy.
Their father had made their life hell every single day and it was time for someone to show him that he was that powerful.
Everywhere they went he caused a scene and people ended up hating them. He couldn't blame though they deserved most of the hate.
For the first time, they went to a new place without him to start afresh. They did not want him ruining every little thing that they did but guess what?
Their father had a reputation there. No matter how much they tried to get rid of him he was always there like a nagging each on your back
This time it was different though because he was no longer there. They could rewrite the story whichever way they wanted.
It was their life and they wanted to make Nightdale their home and no one was going to stop them from doing so.
As the rain fell on his skin he happened his steps. He did not want the rain to catch him home outside. He was not very good at it.
Edmund never liked the rain since when he was little. No matter how heartless he had become he was still a little bit at heart.
The boy who cried his eyes out when he was drenched in rain. The one who had been tied up outside by his father as punishment for going to play. Only this time around he wasn't going to cry.
Thinking of that moment with his father he did not see any reason someone would be mad that he had killed him.
He did not deserve to live and if he was given a chance to re-do it he would do it all over again.
