Maverick thought for some time and gave a call to Liam. But he wasn't sure if he should really share these details with him.
"I have some important details to share,"
"What kind of details?" asked Liam.
"Well it's kind of hard to tell on the phone but if we meet I can show you,"
"What sort of?"
"Well, a pile of diaries that date back to about thirty years,"
"You mean grandfather's right-hand man's diaries?" asked Liam.
"How ... how did you know?" asked Maverick surprised.
"When I was a kid I had seen him writing them,"
"So you have read them?"
"Well not exactly. I was pretty small then and I loved to spend time in his room after he came back in the night. So I watched him write while drinking hot milk at night,"
"Well, there are a lot of books, Liam. And they are highly detailed. I can show you one," Maverick handed over the book with Liam's mother's details.
Maverick gave some time to Liam to read the book. He watched his expressions from time to time. Suddenly he saw Liam make his fist into a ball and hit his chair rest hard. Liam looked like he couldn't believe what he read.
"Liam,"
"Huh!!"
"I believe what you said about grandfather. He is ruthless and there's a lot more than we know written in those books,"
"What do .." Liam's phone rang.
"Hello, Alex,"
"Can we meet today Liam?"
"I was thinking if we could meet with Ben, Paul, and you. have got some news to share,"
"What kind of news?"
"Something that will help our investigations,"
"Oh ok, what time?"
"Can you three come now? We'll meet at your HQ"
"Ok.. we'll meet you in an hour,"
As promised everyone met at the right time.
"Liam, who is this?" asked Alex looking at the newcomer.
"Well everyone meets Maverick, my long-unknown cousin," said Liam introducing the others to Maverick.
Maverick looked at the others. He had read about them and had heard about the brotherly bond between Ben and Alex. Paul was a mystery to him even though he seems to be getting along with everyone pretty well. If the truth is said, he thought that all these guys look pretty handsome and excelled well in their fields.
The others looked at Maverick. His looks can be deceiving. He looked young and determined. But no one can tell he was a notorious character from the inside.
They settled down in the dining room and the table was stacked up with diaries from the first book to the last, it was written. Everyone looked at them and at Liam hoping he would explain.
"Hmm.. well, what you have in front is evidence of my grandfather's crimes. Hand written by his trusted right-hand man. Dated back to many years back."
"WOW!!! what a trusted fellow..." said Alex making everyone laugh.
"I don't know the reason he documented these," said Liam.
"Maybe he felt guilty and wanted to let the world know about these," said Paul, while Alex and Ben started to go through a book.
"Paul, you should really see these," I said going through them.
"Why?"
"Just check. These are highly detailed,"
Paul started to go through a book and what made him surprised was the details. They were indeed highly detailed and precise. He quickly started to go through the document he had in hand as a day caught his eye.
"Dave" was all he said after going through the diary with an unknown sad expression of missing his best friend.
"Paul?" I went near him and took out the diary with the details. Everything done that day was written. Including having Liam be the target to get Dave to the place. Liam hadn't known this at that time. But later he found out which made him fall apart with his grandfather, but he didn't have a choice.
Things were getting emotional as part of the findings. It's hard to go through such details about a friend you have known who was like a brother to you. After a few minutes, he was back to normal.
"Well, my advice is, not to tell anyone about these books for the time being. Ben especially Sarah,"
"Yes, I understand," taking out another book to go through.
"We will have to go through these ourselves first, if not words might spread," said Alex in concern.
"How about we all get together at some place and spend a few days so we can cross check the information," I said, hoping they will agree.
"You mean the beach house?" asked Alex.
"Yes, I am hoping to take Sarah there, for a four-day trip. So we all can go and get through the docs,"
"Ok then... A family vacation plus we can keep an eye on the girls," said Alex while Paul approved.
