Meanwhile, Jason and the special team with Markus had a tiresome job. They were hunting up the past flowing back to fifty years or more. Yes, grandfather kept every document safely.
"HI... I bought some snacks and coffee," said Jason coming up.
"Just what we needed," said Markus's assistant.
Jason looked around the conference room, it was a mess with this and that everywhere. Everyone was going through so many files and comparing them. Yes, they will be given weeks' leave after this work is over, Thank god... for that.
"Any leads guys?" asked Jason going through some files.
"Hmm... there is something I think you need to check,"
"Let me see,"
"It seems like some transactions about some raw material, but there is some difference,"
"Good lead, George," said Jason, going through the files.
For a few more hours they went through various files and gathered a lot of data. According to the details, they divided everything and created separate computer files for easy reference.
"Thank you for your hard work everyone," I said coming into the office with Alex and lunch for all of the officials at work.
"Sir, we have found some details, that you may g through,"
"Ok. you all go and have some rest we'll go through these," said Alex looking around to see our fathers behind.
"Ben, where are they?"
"Didn't they come behind us?" I asked.
We looked around confused, where were they?
"OH you boys are no fun," said Alex's dad.
"You guys forgot to buy them dessert," said my father.
"So what did you get?" asked Alex already trying to get his share.
"Brownies, choco chip cookies, and some fruits," said Alex's dad.
"My favorite," chimed Alex.
"AH.... nope, not for you son,"
After giving off the dessert to the team, we went about to look into the files they have arranged.
After a while, Jason came back with the troop. And started going through the files.
"Sir, did you check those blue files?" he asked.
Yes, he had files color-coded, such an efficient worker.
"Do you mean about the raw materials?" asked my father.
"Yes, sir,"
"I did see some big differences,"
"Really?" said Alex's dad.
"Hmm... let's see if these companies still exist?"
"I don't think they do dad, because we have never asked of them," said Alex.
"But just in case, we might find someone who can give us some clues,"
So they went on looking for the relevant details for a few hours and were able to find out one old gent who had dealt with the Alexanders. And luckily he had also known my grandfather from earlier days. So he agreed to meet us at the office in about an hour.
"SIR,"
"What's the matter, Jason?" I asked because his voice scared me.
"Look at this document," he handed over an old contract made by my grandfather's old company.
We all looked into it just to look at each other in disbelief.
"How can this be?" I asked.
"Son I told you Alexander's father was a mean man and he didn't do business in the correct way," said my father.
"But can he go this low?" asked Alex.
The document was a contract on a building construction but Alexander's father had wanted to do the project with low-grade materials so he could save half the quoted amount.
"Sir, I think this is the last project that made an argument between your father and him," said Jason looking at my father.
"Have they built this?" I asked.
I saw Jason looking around and trying to figure out what he should say. He looked at his co-workers. They also looked everywhere but us. This was not good. I looked at them and asked again,
"Can someone tell me what is going on?"
"Hm.. sir," said Jason.
"They really haven't built it or there never was such an actual project," said another co-worker.
"Then?" I asked.
"They had used it to collect funds. There were a few smaller projects too. But the biggest one is this," said Jason, handing me some files.
At the same time, the old gent who knew my grandfather and Liam's grandfather arrived.
"Come in Mr.Benson," A white-haired old gent appeared in a black suit, he looks to be in great physique as well.
He came in and looked around. "Hmm nice," was all he said and looked at my father.
"You look like your old man, Clifford," he said.
"Thank you, sir,"
"SO tell me what you need to know,"
"SIr, do you know any details about the Alexander that my father worked with?" asked my father.
"May I know why you are snooping around him?"
"Well there had been some things happenings around our family and my daughter-in-law is also a victim of these incidents. Ans we are at a deadend,"
"OH that vicious man," he said making us look at him.
"He is just a ruthless, man. A cunning one to be exact,"
"What do you mean sir?" I asked.
"Well, he tried to show that he was looking for investors and robbed my money for a new project,"
"Do you mean this one?" my father handed him a file.
He went through the file for a while.
"Yes, but I declined as I realized his other partner was not happy with what he was suggesting,"
"Hmm... my father left the company after this incident," said my father.
"Your father was a righteous man, how can he be bothered with these silly scams,"
"Well did you hear any other news later about this project?" asked Alex.
"Hmmm... yes, I got to know that someone funded it but the project never started. And the news also started to spread that the company was a scam altogether,"
"Hmm..."
"At the same time, the Cliffords company started to get noticed around and many trusted it. But at that same time, I got to know that Alexander was jealous and accused Clifford that he cheated but later everything was solved smoothly. But remember he is a cunning man who might seem to take revenge,"
"You mean a revenge that goes through generations?" asked Alex's father.
"hmmm could be..." was all he said before leaving the premises.
