Detective Vance Miller and Rachel Cooper were having a field day back at the precinct. Somehow, the news of how a human body had been so viciously attacked by a vampire had spread like wildfire.
And Captain Erin Walter was not finding it funny. All morning, she'd been all grumpy and irritable. Whenever she was like that, everyone knew better than to get in her way.
This wasn't good for the precinct. When bad news like this spread, it made it look like she was not handling her job like she was supposed to. Plus the bad news rubbed off on everyone, especially those who were in power like herself.
When Detective Cooper walked into her office, Captain Walter was looking through a report that had just been filed with a deep frown on her face.
"Good morning, Captain," Detective Copper greeted, a cautious look on her face.
