Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 - Going Home

Suddenly, the child talking in front turned her head as if hearing her. She thought she would be angry but she simply smiled cutely at her before going back to talking to the chief steward.

She was stunned for a moment and couldn't help laughing again.

This must be the natural relationship between a mother and a daughter. Although she didn't seem like she was close to her, in fact, she naturally liked this mom.

She would get closer with her baby girl in the days to come. She would take her to buy new clothes and decorate her room the way Maei wanted. Although she had lost a few years with her baby girl she would make it up by loving her even more.

The capital city of Azov was in the Iwarim region in the north west direction with sea on two sides and Avrinyth region in the north east. The previous dynasty had their capital city in the middle of the continent but the present Empire decided to have their capital city from where the first constitutional head came from.

It's said that during the war, after being defeated by his enemies, the state head was driven back to his city and forced to defend himself from there. But what the enemies didn't expect was that the city was a natural fort.

Being surrounded by seas on two side and the Avrinyth mountain range in the north east, it was easy to defend and hard to seige. The Avrinyth region was a place filled with mountains and roads but it was not so easy to navigate in it. The whole region was like a labyrinth. Without the natives it was easy to get lost and never come out again.

After realising this, from there the Head launched a reversal on his enemies that is written in books.

After his victory, when the war was over and the peace treaty was signed, the state Head made it the new capital Azov for being the turning point in the war.

Now the capital city had grown to five times the size it previously was. The city hosted a population of millions of people.

After being expanded over and over and reconstructed the final city was divided into five sections, with an inner circle and outer circle. The first two sections were the inner section, while the the other three sections were the outer section.

The Constitutional Head and its six ministers stayed in the State Residential area. They were not their permanent residences but were housing provided to the minister who was in the present term. Only their immediate family were allowed to live in the residence and no guests were allowed to stay overnight. The only other residence was the State Guest House for visiting dignitaries.

Other than them no one resided in the inner circle, but was the site for all constitutional offices. Even the Ambassadors of other continents resided in the outer circle.

The Council hall or The Council of Beginnings was the building that was in the middle.

The Council of Beginnings was the name given by the first Constitutional Head to the Torbay Empire. It marked a new beginning for all races Human, Elves and Dwarves.

He also made sure that the constitution was written in a way that would in no way let the Head exploit the Torbay Empire for his own gain. Although he was the first State Head he had no offspring and had no family for they were all killed by his enemies. After becoming the State Head he devoted his life to the Empire.

Also in the inner circle was the Warrior's Rest. It was a place dedicated to the individuals who sacrificed their life for the Empire. The Empire took care of the graves of their warriors and made sure that they are always tidy with fresh flowers.

The residences of the people started from the third section. Obviously the closer to the inner circle the costlier and important the land.

The Demaris Estate was in the third section with other four prominent families. The other four were namely the Amado, Moran, Amamion and lastly Griffon.

The Griffons are ranked first, and the current and Fourth State Head is also their second oldest son who was the First Head's Disciple, though very few know about it.

The families weren't ranked on how powerful or rich they are but in which way have they contributed the most to the Torbay Empire.

In the last 500 years the Griffon family has contributed and sacrificed many of their individuals to make sure that the Torbay Empire is safe and sound.

The rest of the Families were ranked as Morans, Demarises, Amamion and Amados respectively.

By the time she got all the information from the chief steward they had already reached the gate.

When she looked out of the window she saw towering walls made with black bricks she had never seen before. It was 40 meters thick and 30 meters tall. The walls had 12 points of entry in different sections. The Main Gate was mostly kept shut and was only opened on special occasions.

The Gates were large as well. There were three lanes of cars going and coming. There was no such thing as special or VIP lane. Every individual had to line up in an honest manner to get inside. Only during an emergency was an individual allowed exception and even then the enforcers escort the individual, so that they could arrest them if there were lying.

The Walls were not only the point of entry into the city but also hosted the military officers who were in charge of protecting the Walls and the people who traverse through the Walls. The army currently garrisoned at the walls were the Vanguard Division.

Maeisha had never seen such majestic Walls before. In her world there were no such thing as city walls as a cultivator could simply fly over them or break them with their power. The chief steward then told her that the city walls were made of Lasnyx, a black metal rock found in the inner most region of Avringth.

The rock was so strong that even the power of a Martial Monarch could only make a hole of 3 meters. One could imagine how strong a 40 meters thick wall would be.

A person could also not fly inside the capital city. Any individual seen flying in and out of the walls or in the city were taken down by the enforcers.

The car reached the Wall Gate and the officer there checked their credentials before letting them go inside.

Not all towns and cities adopted such strict checking but this was the Capital City.

As they travelled forward the driver smoothly turned into the path taking them to the third section where the Demaris Estate was....
