Chapter 9 - Letter and Diary!

On getting to the station, Sam and Emily went straight to their workspace and begin to go through the content of the items they picked in Hailey's room.

Sam placed a notepad and pen beside him as he reads her diary.

Emily opened the letters, most of the letters were subscription of water, power supply and others, she was about putting them all aside to join Sam when a brown envelope caught her attention, she took the envelope and opened directly because it has no address on it, the letter goes thus....

_Dear Hailey,

This is Kennedy, I know its been long we saw last. I had to break up with you because I was going to read Law outside the country and I wouldn't want you think otherwise but now, I'm back for good and I want you back. I heard you're dating Stephen now, I literally want you to know that Stephen isn't the good guy you think he is, I'm not wrecking your relationship because I want you back or anything. I just want you to be careful. This USB contains all the hideous things he has done. I'm now a remarkable lawyer around the world. I'd love to meet up with you. I missed us. I had to write to your home because I couldn't get your contact.

Here's my card. You can call me when you're ready to meet up. I'll create time for us. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you.

Your friend

Kennedy_ .

Emily looked around to see if she'd see any USB but didn't see any, she decided to report her findings to Sam but he wasn't on seat. She tried calling him but it went into voicemail immediately, she dropped a voice message about what she came across with the letter Kennedy sent to Hailey and the missing USB.

After few minutes, Emily received a text message from Sam saying she should see him in the interview room, she sat up and picked up the letter and head to the interview room. She opened the door to Sam adjusting his reading glasses to write something on his note pad, "Found anything?", Emily asked. " Yeah, a lot ", Sam said smiling widely as he took off his glasses,he continued, " It was getting interesting, so I moved here where no one would disturb or interrupt me", "So how's it going, I found a letter Hailey's ex wrote to her with a flash drive that contains the grave things Stephen did but the USB is missing", Emily explained and Sam read the letter. "I know where it is and Stephen has to be arrested, I'm done with her diary", Sam said and continued, " We'll have to invite Stephen himself down to the station for questioning". "What about her ex, Kennedy?", Emily asked, " We'll have to question him too", Sam said to her. "There's Kennedy's contact in the letter, should I call him and invite him over?", Emily asked. " Yeah, call and invite him over. And if doesn't, he should be suspected too", Sam suggested and continued, "Because at this point, anyone is a suspect", Emily nodded.

Emily went to her workspace and dialed Kennedy's contact and he picked up at the first ring, "Yes, Barrister Sydney speaking", " Good day Barrister Sydney, from Melbourne Police station", Emily said. "How can I help you?", Kennedy asked. " Hailey's missing, your presence is required at our station right now", Emily dropped the bomb, "Oh my goodness, Stephen's a bastard, gimme a few minutes, I'll be there in a jiffy", Kennedy said and dropped the call. Emily went back to meet Sam and said, " He sounded scared and as though he knew it was going to happen. He's going to rush down here on a few minutes", Emily said. "Then let's wait for it", Sam smiled.
