Chapter 14 - Sandra's Confession

Sam decided to take a visit to Sandra's house to question her again for the last time. He got to her house and didn't meet her, then he decided to go to Fred's house since that was where he saw her last. He drove to Fred's house, knocked on the door and it was opened by Sandra, "Hey", she said to Sam who smirked, " Can I have a chat with you for at least 30 minutes?", Sam asked not wanting to waste time on the reason he was there. "Yeah sure, you can step in", Sandra offered but he politely declined the offer, " Why don't we step out? The weather is a bit nice", Sam suggested looking up to the sky before flashing Sandra a cute smile which she could not decline. She agreed to step out with him, "Why are you here? I know you're not just here to chat with me or take a walk. Where is Fred? Why did you arrest him?", Sandra bombarded Sam with lots of question which made smile, he looked at her calmly and asked, " Why did you kill Hailey? What did she do to receive that gruesome death? What was her offense?", he studied Sandra's expression, at the mention of Hailey's death, she flinched with surprise and it disappeared immediately, she refused to say a word, "Won't you share with me when you mentioned her being dead when you were arrested at first? Why did you kill Hailey, Sandra?", Sam asked again. Sandra had a mixed feeling in her heart as a part of her was happy that Hailey was dead and the other part of her was not going well with the news of her best friend being dead, which literally means they would never see each other again, they would never get to talk about their taste in men again, they would never have meals together again, they would never get to argue with each other again, they would never get to tease one another again, they would never get to have sleepovers together again, they really would never get to hate on each other again! All these were screaming in Sandra's head and another part of her which didn't feel anything said to her, 'Its a good news that she's dead, you can gladly go to the modelling company and claim her position. She's dead and the dead don't model. That serves her right for stealing your shine at the company', She allowed the greed and jealousy to take over her, despite the tears flowing from her eyes due to the pain she felt at first, "She deserves to die, detective Sam", she said. Sam who was confused had to ask, " And why is that?", and she replied, "She knew I was so much in a particular modelling company and she went ahead to apply and she was given the job. That's what I call betrayal of friendship", she explained but broke down in tears, " It hurts that I'll never get to see her again. I can't get angry at the dead, my anger is useless right now", she cried.

"Young lady, if I can remember clearly, I didn't say Hailey was dead", Sam said and Sandra looked up feeling guilty, 'I know she's dead, why can't they find her, her body is in the open', she thought. Her thought was interrupted by Sam who asked, "  Did you kill her?", and Sandra's nodded her head, "No, I didn't kill her", Sandra said while wiping her tears. Sam sighed, "You keep saying she's dead, yes, you're correct. Hailey's dead. What do you know about her death? Do you have an hand in it?", Sam asked.

At this point, Sandra decided to come clean to Sam, 'Thank goodness they found her already', she thought.

She sniffed and wiped her tears, " That evening, I was returning from the mall where Hailey and I do shopping and get groceries from when I noticed a human body laying out there in the cold weather, I got down from my car and walked up to the body, only to find out that it was Hailey's body. I was scared to death that I had to contact the ones I sent after her to beat her up or break one or two bones, just to teach a lesson she'd never forget but...", "You sent goons after her?", Sam asked surprisingly and Sandra nodded to say yes.
