A minute or two passed with complete silence after sometime Dalv coughed and said, "Kellan take a look at her, don't waste anymore time."
Kellan took a sit beside Florida and followed the usual routine of checking a patient. He checked her pulse, followed her heart beat with the stethoscope, checked her eyes by lifting the lids slowly, felt her forehead and then faced us with the same dark expression.
He spoke rather dryly, "the only thing that can save her is, my brother's blood."
We all gaped at him in shock. Somewhere I knew this was coming but now that finally the words were out, my nerve tensed and a cold chill ran though my spine.
All of us started speaking at once, then we started quarreling in loud voices, Lee's sharp knock on the table jolted us from our squabbles and we looked at him.
Lee said, "I think that's the best option we have now. We have already given a try of all the methods, this is our only hope. I don't think neither of you need to remind me of the consequences. Mr. Dalv you please go ahead."
Dalv looked at us in turn then turned towards Ruby and said, "fetch me a glass or a bowl."
Ruby left.
"Dalv, I think you should feed her with some blood, and see if her body accepts it", Kellan said. Then he looked at us and confirmed, "My brother is in the first in line of the vampires. So he is the strongest amongst all the other vampires. I and my other brother Fredrick are vampire born but we are not as strong as him. He was turned by his sire and hence it makes him one of the most powerful and oldest living vampires in NYC and first in the chain. And moreover you must have heard that vampire blood can heal any supernatural being and sometimes even can help a dying human. So let's hope for his blood to work the magic."
All of it made sense, I could feel his aura from the moment he entered our residence. Ruby returned with a china bowl and handed it to Dalv.
He took it from her hand and sat beside Florida. Taking out a handsome dagger from his belt he started rolling his sleeves. Then, he ran the sharp knife through his right wrist and let the red liquid flow into the pitcher, he is holding in his left hand.
After collecting a good amount of blood in the China he ran his index finger through the deep scar and immediately the wound closed and nothing remained not even a scar.
Placing the bowl carefully on the divan table he slowly lifted Florida in his arms and brought the bowl closer to her mouth. But she made no effort to swallow and the blood flowed from the corner of her closed mouth. Dalv without wasting a single breath gulped his blood and then brought Florida closer to his mouth and started feeding his blood through his mouth. This time she swallowed the liquid.
Something strange inside me boiled, this feeling is indeed alien to me.
Dalv lifted his mouth from Florida's and brushed him thumb through her crimson lips to wipe away the blood that dripped .
Suddenly she opened her eyes, her red pupils followed his gaze. Florida slowly brought her hands closer to his cheeks and said in a hoarse voice, "long time no see Adam." And then she collapsed in his arms.
We were all in shock.
In fluster I barked, "what is this... why did the colour of her pupil change...wh..a..what the heck she said..... what is going on...you give an explanation right now?"
Dalv transformed and shouted at us, "leave the room now! I don't want anyone here at this moment."
This made my head blow in anger.
Ruby accusingly said, " see, this is why I was telling you not to call these monsters. Now look what is going on. Do.. you have..."
Lee cut Ruby and then started brushing us out of the room. He said in a calm voice, "let's leave them alone for now, you all follow me out. You too Mr. Kellan."
It was no point arguing we all left the room silently and Lee softly closed the door behind him. Ushering us downstairs he led us to the hallway each of us took a seat in the living room.
I was furious. None of us could utter a single word, not after what we witnessed a few mins back.
"What happened? What are you folks doing here?", Hoong spoke as he came towards us and sat in Rose's armchair.
"Why don't you ask him?", I pointed at Kellan and said.
Kellan didn't look up bending his head he said softly, "I don't know, even I am in complete shock. I am clueless why she behaved like that..it was like she was someone completely different. Let my brother come, only he can explain this to us. I believe even he was taken aback by this. This is for the first time we experienced something like this happening."
Ruby got up with a start and shouted angrily at Kellan, "if anything. I mean anything happens to my Florida, I will kill you, even if that means I have to die. I will not let you get passed this."
"Keep quite."
Our head followed the speaker, it was Dalv. He came down the stairs and took a seat in the velvet couch beside Kellan and said in a calm voice "Mr. Lee are you hiding something from us? Tell us everything you know about the woman upstairs."
"She is a half vampire", Lee replied.
"A what now?", Dalv asked.
"Her mother is a vampire and her father is a hunter. That makes her a half vampire and a half hunter. But it doesn't matter here. How can you explain what happened after she drank your blood?"
Hoong almost fell off his seat and barked, "she drank w-h-a-t?"
Ruby dropped her voice and quickly updated him with the happenings upstairs while he was guarding the house. After listening everything Hoong said nothing and turned his head towards the ceiling. Everyone present might feel that he was okay with all of this but I am aware that he is this close to burst out.
Dalv coughed. We all looked at him. After he caught our attention he said carefully, "did she drink blood often?"
"No", I said.
"Strange", replied Kellan.
Dalv started tapping his finger in his lap after sometime said, "what I can only think of now is... She was under hypnotism or her bloodlust was under control, as she drank my blood something in her triggered or awakened. But don't panic. She is safe and I checked her, her body accepted my blood and her wounds her healing. As you told Mr. Lee, since she is a half vampire her healing might take time, but she is no longer in danger now. That is all a past."
He continued, "when the ghoul attacked and especially injured her hand it's blood came in contact with hers' which caused her awakening and the power, hence waking her hunter side which somehow died. If one of you can give me an explanation to that. And as for the reaction you all got now, the situation is quite similar. When she drank my blood her suppressed vampire side woke, she being a half vampire."
"Now if you can tell us both about her past, without hiding anything Mr. Lee, we might be able to help you", Kellan said looking at Lee.
Before I could stop Lee, he told everything abut how her brother's accident made her lose her power and how she ended up here with us Elocossa's.
