"What did you just say?', I barked with annoyance and shock. "Do you think before you say something? And we mean nothing to you, right? 4 years was just a joke, and this is a hotel!"
Anger was boiling me from inside. What was Florida even thinking? I knew that now associating with her would make us all vulnerable, but that does not mean we will abandon her like a ragged doll. None of us would. And we are a pack of three powerful hunters in the entire city. Who would dare to challenge us?
She motioned for me to sit with her. But I jerked my head. I was fuming.
"Jung, she called slowly.
I ignored.
"You should take rest," I replied and left. Lee and Hoong followed me outside, and Ruby stayed back to wrap her wounds.
"Should I warm something up? I am sure you guys are famished by now," Lee grinned.
Poor guy; he was trying to ease out the tension.
Hoong spoke, "No thanks; all that blood has made me lose my appetite. You guys enjoy it, and don't forget to store some blood in the refrigerator now. Now that we have a Vamp.. sorry, someone who should not be named."
I was taken aback by his sarcasm. I knew he loathed vampires, but that doesn't mean he would be indifferent to Florida. I followed him to the roof.
"What exactly is your problem? You literally have no feelings for her." I shouted.
A cool morning breeze hit us. All the happenings from last night and what might happen next have already made us sleepless. And moreover, we are both habitually pulling all-nighters. Hunger, sleep, tiredness—all these were not bothering me. What really was was his carefree attitude toward Florida. And what he felt was very difficult to read. As his twin, it would have been easy but he is too stubborn to let me in. All these years, I have still tried and have been successful in reading my brother, but when it comes to her, again, nothing.
He lit a cigar and passed me one. I shook my head.
He slowly said, "Look, bro, you know I don't care for any women. The only woman I give sh*t to is Ruby. And I don't hate Florida I simply don't like her; she is very annoying and nothing but trouble. This family is my home, and I would not let anyone ruin it. And she is doing the very thing. First her unknown past, now this Phoenix symbol and reawakening, VAMPIRES...freaking Vamps, at our resident. What more will she gift us with? Zombie apocalypse? I just want her out of her life. I have taken enough."
"Lee has been gracious enough to take us in and treat us like his own family after what happened to our parents. He has a heart of gold. He most definitely won't allow Florida to be in any danger. But what that old man cannot see is what I can see. I touched you all, and I had visions of the future, and it's not good. It is related to Florida, but as I said, anything related to her is black, so I am not quite sure. That is why I want her out of the house."
I took the cigar from his hand and replied, "Maybe you don't care a bit. But do you know how much you mean to her? More than I do. And that is why I am jealous, for she won't feel the same way she feels for you, and you are a dumbass to notice that."
"Huh!", Hoong gaped at me.
"Yes."
"You mean to say she has feelings for me?"
"She has told you?"
"Yes."
"And you hid it from me.."
"Yes!"
"Why in God's name?"
I silently tuned towards him and said, "She asked me to keep it a secret."
