The scream caught everyone that was left in the cave completely off guard, even the bear stopped feasting on one of the soldier's flesh. Everyone was looking at Lucas, curious about what he would do next. The pressure of the bear vanished, replaced with an even stronger bloodlust. Robert wanted to say something, but he couldn't even open his mouth. Lucas stood up and turned around, 'What is that?!'
Lucas didn't look like himself anymore, his eyes were replaced with scary blood-red pupils, that seemed to seep out of him, crimson tears rolled over his cheek, creating an aura of bloodlust around him.
"AAAAARGH!", screaming his lungs out he rushed at the Demonic Bear. Somehow aided by his magic, the sound wave caused their ears to ring loud as if they had tinnitus. Some had blood run out of their ears, sadly, that wasn't going to be enough to hold back a monster like a Demonic Bear.
The bear was pressured, but not to the point it couldn't move anymore. It tried to swipe Lucas away, but the moment the bear almost made contact with Lucas, he shot his hand forward to block the bear. His muscles bulged out of his skin, stretching his skin to the point it was torn to shreds, revealing dark blue veins beneath.
Gaining the power to block the bear's raw strength wasn't without its price. The pain of having his skin pulled apart hurt immensely, yet Lucas couldn't react. His heart didn't have the room for pain, all that was left was a black seething anger that overtook his brain.
Besides the pain, his mana reserves were being drained dry at a worryingly degree. Seeing no option to rely on his internal energy, his determined willpower pulled in the energy in his surroundings.
Without careful control and management, this was basically suicide for any normal mage at his level. Bending the space to his will not only pushed his mental sphere to its limits but also his body and core. The moment one broke, his life as a mage would be over, stepping out of this cave with his life would already be a miracle.
Using his other arm he let his muscles bulge out of their skin, completely destroying it in the process.
BANG
Hitting the bear squarely on the head, it flew to the back of the cave. While his right hand punched the bear, his other hand had been collecting the mana in the surroundings to create a flaming ball of fire. While the bear was flying to the back of the cave, the fireball flew after it. The bear moved its head slightly, dodging the ball of fire by a hair's width. Thinking it had the upper hand by dodging the next attack, it regretted its decision immediately.
BOOM
The fireball hit the coal that was located on the wall. The combination of powerful heat and raw coal created an explosion that shook the cave. Toxic fumes filled the room instantly.
The bear, bearing the brunt of the explosion, couldn't withstand it and lost most of its hide and body on its back. It would take long before its entire body would be scorched to a crisp. Yet it still wasn't dead, life was burning in its eyes.
Robert saw it all play out and didn't know whether Lucas intentionally aimed for the coal or the bear. Was it pure luck or thought out? 'Despite being so angry, there is still a part that thinks rational? How?'
Letting out another battle cry, he pursued the bear. The monster realized that fighting with strength wasn't a good idea against such a strange human. It summoned the dark spears again and shot them at his new opponent. Lucas didn't bother dodging them, he also wasn't in the mindset to think about anything, he was barely in control anymore.
With pure willpower he transformed the surrounding energy to become infected with Light runes, lighting up the entire cave. His dome shook heavily, almost creating cracks, the pressure was becoming too much to handle.
The darkness was dissipating in the air due to the light, but the remnants of the spears still made it through. But Lucas couldn't care less, he rushed toward the bear with his bare hands, letting his bulged muscles get hit with the dark magic. It hurt like hell, yet he didn't stop running.
The bear was shocked at the display of courage to face darkness head-on and wanted to rush at Lucas again. The bear swiped his claw downwards while biting the only escape route, it was a simple tactic for a beast. If his prey stayed, it had to block his claws, if he dodged he would face his jaw.
What the bear didn't expect was that Lucas never stopped running, the claws that came downward were too slow. Lucas bashed against its body tipping it over, he started to bite the neck of the bear.
Trying to tear off its hide, but he didn't make too much progress, the bear pushed him off its body almost making Lucas lose a few teeth. The blood running between his mouth and over his chin created a scary image for the bear. His aura was extremely imposing.
Lucas jumped the bear again, but this time his hands were completely black, he forced dark energy inside his own hands. This should completely destroy them, yet they stayed whole. He grasped the head in his hands and let his muscles bulge out of their proportions again, crushing the monster's skull.
The bear's instincts started to scream, it needed to get rid of Lucas right away. Using its claws and strength it hit and pushed Lucas, yet he stood steady, his hands were stuck against his head. Turning around didn't help he held on, the bear tried to bite Lucas in the face, but the only thing he bit on was a stream of fire that came out of Lucas's mouth.
CRACK
The skull got crushed, and the bear was dead, but Lucas wasn't done. He started to punch the bear even harder now that it couldn't fight back. His hands were fully broken and almost destroyed, his face was a mess of burns and blood. He kept punching it, and it didn't look like he would stop any time soon.
"LUCAS! Calm down!", Robert tried to calm him again but didn't know if he could hear anything in that state.
"Don't touch him!", Liam ordered Robert to not move, Lucas didn't seem like his usual self, it was better to let him vent whatever he needed to. Not long after Lucas lost all his energy in any kind of form, he got off from the bear, his body covered in crimson red.
His hands were shriveled up like all the blood and energy were sucked out of them. The bones were broken, the tendons snapped.
He fell to his knees in a pool of blood, falling unconscious.
