Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

"No need to follow me." Chase said while getting on his bike.

"What was that about?"

He looked at me, raising an eyebrow, "You still don't know? Just ask him, why he's being a stuck-up little bitch."

"Fine, I will."

"Also you really surprised me back there when you ordered me. Where the hell did that come from?" he stared at me curiously.

"No idea." I shrugged smiling cheekily.

He smiled back, or well tried to, and then let out a groan as he touched his busted lip, "Ugh, it hurts."

"You should be glad I intervened, Dylan was about to blow your head off."

"Yes, of course, Thank you, my savior."

I punched his arm, making him whine.

"Enough with the sarcasm, now get lost."

Revving up the engine, he drove away, while waving at me.

"It hurts." Hunter whined, as I lightly dabbed the cotton on the cut above his eye. He was leaning against the slab around the basin in his bathroom.

I pushed harder.

"Oww, are you crazy?"

"Are you? Why did you punch him?"

"Didn't he tell you when you followed him out?" he looked at me steely-eyed.

"I asked him, but no he didn't"

"He knows why I did it, you don't have to know everything." He took the cotton from me and threw it in the trash and pushed himself off the slab. I craned my neck to look at him. There was anger in his eyes as he closed the distance between us.

"He's just a bodyguard, Violet. Remember that." His voice was deep and low and I suddenly became very aware of our close proximity. My heart thudded in my chest and I hoped he couldn't hear it.

He pushed past me, into the room.

"Dylan is your bodyguard but you treat him like a friend." I said to his back, making him stop in his tracks.

"That's different."

"How?"

"Because." He let out a frustrated sigh, turning around to look at me. The door opened at that moment. Asher looked between us confused.

"Is everything okay?"

"Yes."

"No."

We both answered at the exact moment and then stared at each other.

"Okay" Ash looked unsure of what to do next.

"I was leaving anyway." I said and walked past him. I was halfway out when I heard Hunter calling me.

"Violet, wait up."

I stopped and waited for him to catch up. He looked down at his shoes and then muttered, "Sorry for reacting like that."

"What was that?" I pretended to not hear and held out my ear, "Can you repeat? I didn't quite catch it."

"I'm not doing that." He said annoyed, finally looking at me.

"Just one more time." I prodded at him, holding up a finger.

"No."

I pouted at him.

"Not gonna work."

"You're so mean."

"I've heard worse."

"Considering your personality, is that really that surprising." I spoke in retort.

He muttered something under his breath which sounded pretty similar to 'bitch'. I looked at him confused as he spun on his heels and began walking towards the gardener behind.

Wait- Is he? No, no ,no.

I started sprinting across the lawn, but he was fast too. He ran behind me with the hose in his hand. Putting his thumb on the opening, he sprayed the water on my direction.

"You are so dead." I stared at him flabbergasted as I sputtered out some water that had entered my mouth.

"Woah you scare me" He pretended to shiver and I almost got a déjà vu.

Well I'm wet already. I started running in his direction while he continued spraying. We fought over the hose and much to my satisfaction he ended up being drenched too. Before I could celebrate my victory however, he snatched it back and blew it right into my face.

"Hun-"

Shit!

Water entered my mouth before I could finish what I was saying. Then like a knight in shining armour, a body flew at Hunter taking him down.

"There's my favourite ball of sunshine." I chuckled at Asher, who stood up leaving Hunter on the ground.

He winked at me and picked up the hose from the ground. Hunter went to grab on to it but quick as light I immediately shoved myself on top of him. Straddling him, I held his hands above his head.

"Quick, Ash."

Ash sprayed the water onto his face making him have a wild coughing fit.

I chuckled at him, " Still find it funny, Arch?"

He caught me off guard when he flipped us over, getting on top.

He smirked looking at my dumbfounded expression," I like this position better."

"Yep, that's my cue to leave."

"Wait." I yelled out after Ash but he was already gone. Traitor.

I smiled innocently at Hunter, "You sprayed me, I sprayed you. Let's call it even."

He tilted his head slightly, "Should we?"

His eyes danced with amusement. They were so pretty. His eyes. I stared into them. They were a dark, rich shade of brown, like a pool of ink, drowning me in. I had never realised this before but up close, he was just so pretty.

His eyes flickered down when a drop of water from the strand of hair over his face, landed on my lips. My heart pounded in my chest as I watched him lick his lips. I forced myself out of the trance and pushed him off. I got up and pushed back the wet hair out of my face. Hunter jumped back to his feet with the smug smile intact on his face. He strolled towards me while taking off his jacket.

"What are you doing?" I questioned, cautiously taking a step back.

He reached me and pushed the jacket in my direction. Seeing my bewildered expression, he bent down, his lips almost touching my ear, "As much as I love the view, I'd rather keep it to myself."

Fuck noooooooooooo!

I forgot I was wearing white. I snatched the jacket and immediately put it on. I placed my hands on my cheeks, they were warm. I closed my eyes, hoping to keeping whatever was left of my dignity. When I opened them back up, Hunter was halfway into the house and then he stopped on the top of the stairs, making my heart drop.

Turning around, he shouted "Hey Violet, by the way, you look ravishing in red!"

Dignity? What's that now?
