Chapter 29 - Katrina

Dirty, filthy, erotic thoughts soared through my brain as I sat at the dining table, sitting across from Persephone and Hades, with Luka and Samael on either side of me. Jack would be proud of the images and different scenarios running through my head. Thoughts of Samael sucking Luka off, while Luka went down on me, devouring my juices, of Samael fucking Luka, while Luka fucked me, of both of them inside of me, taking me together, with just a thin layer of my skin separating them.

Luka nudges me on my side, causing me to look over and glare at them.

"Persephone was just asking how you were getting on at school," Luka whispers.

"Sorry, this food is amazing; I was just in a blissful daze, enjoying the tantalizing flavors of this meal," I reply to Persephone.

Her face lights up with a smile; I know she spent most of the day preparing this meal, "No worries at all, Katrina, I am glad you're enjoying the meal. Sometimes I feel like my efforts are wasted on these men. They can eat a microwaved dinner and have the same look as when they eat my cooking."

"Well, you can cook for me anytime," I reply honestly, winning yet another smile.

"Anyways," Persephone states, brushing off my compliment, "I wondered how you were getting on with all your classes; I know you started the mid-semester."

"Oh." I state, unsure how to respond, I don't want Persephone and Hades to think I can't handle a challenge, but I also don't want to appear cocky, especially since I am struggling in my magical enhancement class, "err… school is fine." I respond, "Some of the classes are more challenging than others, but I think the more time I spend on the subject, the quicker I'll learn it."

"I love it; you're already so motivated, you'll make a perfect Queen," Persephone states, causing Hades to snort. "Dad?" Samael asks, "Do you have something you want to say?"

"Not really; your mother is always quick to see the good in people and see how they present themselves to be and not how they are," Hades responds, causing me to want to shrink into my seat. Hades is, after all, the current ruler of the underworld; if he didn't see his son's mate as a fit, would he not give up abdicate his throne when Samael became of age.

"What's that suppose to mean?" Luka growls, causing Hades to look at him curiously. I reach under the table and rub my hands on Luka's thigh, hoping to calm him.

"Just that my brothers and I have heard rumors about my son's so-called mate, rumors that she isn't fit to rule and doesn't know where she comes from or how much power she poses."

"I study Katrina's powers myself." Luka states firmly, "While she might be an orphan, she exhibits excellent strength and has an Infiniti for all four kingdoms, plus angel given gifts. Katrina is more than fit to rule beside your son and his cousins.

"You seem to be an advocate for dear Katrina, Luka." Hades states, an evil gleam in his eyes, "Do I need to report misconduct happening between you and a student of yours."

"Hades." Persephone chides her mate, "That is enough. Luka is an honorable teacher. He has repeatedly proven that he is fit to teach at this school. Why don't we drop this subject and enjoy this meal that I worked so hard on!" Persephone states, close to yelling as her voice raises an octave with each word, her anger showing as the followers and vines in the dining room start sprouting thorns.

"I apologize for my bluntness," Hades says, clearly regretting angering his wife. "I just want what's best for my son and the kingdoms."

"I understand," I reply, looking down at the table, my hands in my lap, suddenly losing my appetite.

"Are we ready for dessert?" Persephone asks, gaining her composure once more.

"I'm sorry, I am tired. I am going to retire for the night." I state, pushing up from the table. "Dinner was lovely, Persephone, thank you."

I silently walk out of the dining room, hoping Luka and Samael don't follow me. I can feel Samael's reaching out to me through our bond, feeling my emotions. He seems to acknowledge that I need time to myself to sort my thoughts when he replies to his mom, stating he and Luka would love a slice of warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream on the side.

I race up the stairs as quickly as my heels will allow me, willing the tears creeping up on me to stay put until I at least reach Samael's room. Once safe inside his room, I kick off my shoes and strip out of my dress and panties, making my way to the en-suite bathroom. I turn the hot water on full blast before stepping into the shower, finally letting my tears flow freely down my face.

It wasn't that Hades' words hurt me; it's the fact that what he said struck true. He voiced my inner worries; I wasn't good enough. I wasn't good enough for Samael, Miles, Beckett, or Aphelion. I especially wasn't good enough for Luka; being near me was already risking the chance of losing his job as a teacher. And what would happen if we truly mated. He wouldn't be the king of any kingdom; would he just be labeled as consort to the Queen. He deserved so much more than that.

When the water ran cold, my tears had entirely run out, and the sobs long wracked my body. I didn't feel hurt anymore. Now all I felt was emptiness and despair. I wasn't strong enough to leave my mates. I needed them, and I know they need me just as much.

"Katrina," Luka calls out as he enters the room, shutting the door behind him.

I wrapped a towel around my body, checking my face in the mirror to make sure the fact I had been crying wasn't evident. Satisfied with how I looked, I walked out of the bathroom, nearly running into Luka. He takes a step back as his eyes roam over my body, taking in the sight of me in just a towel, swallowing deeply before his eyes meet mine once again.

"I just… er… I wanted to check on you and make sure you're okay." He replies nervously, running his hand through his dark hair.

"I'm fine." I reply, "Where's Samael?" I ask, quickly changing the subject.

"He wanted to talk with his parents in private. He wanted me to check in on you and make sure you're doing okay. Some of the emotions he felt through the mate bond concerned him." Luka replies.

"Oh." I responded with disappointment deep in my chest, "Is that the only reason you're here because Samael asked you to check on me?"

Luka lets out a frustrated growl. "Of course not, Katrina. You should know by now that I am crazy about you. I am willing to risk everything I've worked so hard toward for you."

"I don't want you to lose everything." I reply, concerned, "I'm not worth it."

Luka quickly approaches me, grabbing my face between his hands, "You're worth it and so much more." He growls before leaning his head down, kissing me fiercely, trying to pour every emotion he felt for me in that one kiss.

My hands leave my body, wrapping my hands around him as I pull his body closer to mine, causing my towel to drop to the floor. Luka quickly pulls away from our kiss. His eyes greedily took in the sight of my naked body. His eyes gleamed with arousal when he looked back up at me; there was no shame that he took advantage of my towel dropping to study my body.

I push my body against him, my bare breast touching his firm yet unfortunately clothed chest. "Luka," I moan, as his hands rake over my naked body, "Take me, make me forget Hades words. Help me forget this feeling."
