"Is someone in there?" A voice cried out.
Holden was confused hearing the crowd outside of the mausoleum as their lights searched the grounds to find him inside led by a knight carrying a large golden broad sword to his side watching him stroll into the beams the emitted.
"He is just level one!"
He felt intimidated by the people standing in front of him laced with no understanding how this world works yet. The others laugh at Holden with only the motion of a hand and a simple twist of the mans finger pointing at the peasant.
"Why would such a low level be here?" Another asked.
"What do you mean?" Holden questioned.
"This isn't a starting area! It makes no sense why you are here!"
The Knight boasted. They continued to gawk at the embarrassed newbie dressed in beginners clothing stuck in what Holden had not been told is not a spot he should be in.
"How do I get to the right place?" Holden inquired.
"You need to use and escape item. You will die if you attempt to fight these monsters."
Pulling up his inventory he noticed he is given nothing. There is nothing for him to use to get out of here. His neck and cheeks burned with embarrassment with the ordeal alone given the circumstances he couldn't even talk about it.
"Is it possible to loan me an escape item?" He pondered.
"Why would I give it to you?" The Knight shouted.
"Because I need help to get back!"
"Absolutely not! We are out of here!"
With that said he and his band of members disappeared into mausoleum. Looking away he was too stunned beyond belief that could be happening to him. A hand on his shoulder brought him back to reality.
"Don't let them get to you."
A woman dressed in powder blue dress and large puffy hat holding a huge wooden staff looked him in the eyes kindly.
"You should go with your party." Holden mouthed.
"Hold out your hand." She smiled.
Doing as instructed he was handed a small piece of rope that had been knotted several times. She said nothing more ready to enter.
"Thank you!" Holden shouted.
"How did you get here?" The woman asked.
"I just logged in here."
"I see…my name is GenterFaerie55. I will help you later."
Quickly he added her username to his friends-list happily. What an odd way to make a friend he thought to himself, but was willing to take any friend he could make.
"Really? You are willing to help me?!"
"Of course, but for now I must leave you."
"No worries."
[It is not suggested to make friends, Master Holden]
He ignored the message being fed to him. He waved the woman off leaving to meet her friends for the dungeon in front of them.
"And why can't I have friends?" Holden scolded.
[GenterFaerie55 has been deleted off your list]
Bringing the add list back up he struggled to put it back to normal by putting her into his friends list again.
[GenterFaerie55 has been deleted off your list]
He realized quickly the female robot assistant did not plan on letting him have friends of any sort. If he was to do so again it would only erase her a third time.
[Disabled friends-list: Master Holden this is for your own good]
He suddenly felt doomed by this outburst. Above his head he noticed his username reading
Pointing at the name he was not impressed with how stupid the name sounded to him thinking why of all names he was given this one.
[Later you will be allowed to change it if you properly do as you are told]
"You are joking?!" He shouted.
[Level 20 and I will allow you to change as a prize]
"Can it be anything I want?"
[Analyzing…]
[I will gauge when the time comes]
"I see…"
[The name will appropriate for the missions you will carry, Master Holden]
"You really make this difficult…"
Holding tightly to the escape rope he quickly pressed into the item making it disappear along with himself into town. The landscape was barren as dried brown thorns embraced the abandoned houses surrounding the area.
No one was there to greet or meet at all. An aged fountain in the middle of town could be seen gathering moss in the stale waters below him.
"Where am I?" He asked.
[This is Nerton, but my altered version]
"Why can't I go to the real Nerton then?!" Holden argued.
[For now you need to be away from humanity]
"Why can't I be around people? Why can't I make friends?" He howled.
He was completely angered by his experience and being forced into this artificial intelligence tiny box making experiences for him all the way down to his clothing choices.
"Why did you pick me?" Holden inquired.
[Please be patient…you will know in time]
Holden knew there was a complicated reason that he was thrown in the dark. He strolled over to sit by the dilapidated steps of a building now a rotting heap of rubble pondering to himself why he was even playing this game.
"So what is the point of me actually playing then?" He asked.
[So you can rule the game, Holden]
"How from this dingy town? From nothingness?"
[For now I need to be patient]
The female monotone voice only annoyed him. Looking around him and up at the dark skies up above him made him wonder what could really be in store for him and how would he pay back such an expensive game.
"Be patient for what?"
[You will know soon enough]
"Whatever…"
[Do not fret little one you are being thought of as we speak]
He didn't respond. His head leaned to the side in disappointment gawking down at the garbage collecting on the ground.
"I want to level already!"
[A little more, Master Holden]
"Do whatever you like…"
Disappointment laced his mind. He was planning on leaving soon due to how his first day was turning out. He pulled up the screen to exit when he heard a loud beep in his ears.
[Wait, please]
"Why?"
"Because I am here now."
A man came out of the shadows wearing a cowboy hat and get up as though he was from some old western game.
"Who are you?" Holden questioned.
"Your mentor!" He smiled.
