The doorbell rang with Holden holding tight to his head as his VR helmet laid on it's side. The heated air coming out of the vent of the device made him knock the switch off of the system that sat above him.
Groggily he hauled himself to himself to his feet. Shuffling to the door he caught sight of a woman he never met before.
"Hello I am your provided nurse" She announced.
"Nurse?" Holden asked.
"My name is Missy. I am glad to meet you." She smiled.
He blinked several times before he noticed how she dressed. Missy's golden locks layered one on top of the other sitting shoulder length.
Missy was holding tight to a clipboard and a colorful carpet bag. Taking his hand they walk back to his bedroom.
"I am so sorry about the room!"
Holden jumped in nervously. She pushed him aside to sit on his bed patting despite his unwanted attention to his room.
"Don't worry please." She grinned.
"Are you from the company?" He asked.
Missy nodded taking out a pen from her pocket. He became curious taking a seat beside her to automatically be hit with tympanic thermometer in the ear.
"Hey! What was that for?" He shouted.
Holding his ear he held his hand while she jotted something down. She was gentle with her tiny fingers no matter what she did and was quick at that.
"Looks like you don't have a fever." Missy giggled.
"Why would I have a fever?" Holden spouted back.
"No reason, but I am curious do you remember yesterday?" She asked.
He paused a moment. He could only recall training that day only to kick his feet up to over lap one leg in-between the other.
"I was just training?" He answered.
Again she placed what he said in her notes. When he tried to look she swiped it from his vision.
"I see well anyways how are you feeling?"
"I am fine? Nothing is wrong with me?" Holden said.
"No headaches? Aches? Foggy head?" She listed.
"No? No? No?" He questioned.
"Thank you, Holden."
"Welcome?"
"I will be leaving now."
"Oh! Let me see you out!" Holden shouted.
Missy slowly trotted to the door taking a moment to think. Turning she handed a small black card to Holden who only glanced at it momentarily.
"I hope you will join, Holden."
"I guess I have no choice…"
CHAMPION ONLINE TOURNAMENT
One account per entry
"Good luck!" She winked.
"Right…"
Walking back to his bed he flicked the card to the ground. He pulled the helmet back on to land in a new place to find Ivor sitting with legs crossed perched on a piece of dead wood fashioned like a seat.
"Welcome back!" Ivor grinned.
"Let me guess this is about the contest?" Holden questioned.
"Bingo and we will be doing something different." He explained.
He hopped off pacing around the brunette. Holden wasn't sure what to expect since the time he met the nurse.
"Do you know why you are entering, Holden?" Ivor stated.
"Not really…"
"You don't sound so enthusiastic." Ivor replied disappointed.
"Am I supposed to care?"
"If you do well I will reward you." Ivor spouted.
"What is the reward?" Holden inquired.
"You will be allowed a couple weeks away from the game."
Holden suddenly felt enthusiastic hearing the news. His eyes lit up hearing Ivor announce it.
"Seriously?!" Holden jumped.
"But you must be willing to work with me."
"Got it!"
He waved his scythe in hand cheering to himself. Ivor pulled up notes on his screen reviewing them silently.
"Okay for now you have to train as regular…" He noted.
"Gotcha!" Holden replied.
"I will give you instructions further later." Ivor stated.
"Understood!"
[Master Holden, sorry I am back online]
"Welcome back!" Ivor answered.
[Scheduled training archived]
"So where are we going?" Holden questioned.
"I guess I will go now. Good-luck Holden!"
"I got this!" Holden said proudly.
[Transporting now]
The same spot as last time with the furry doom babbits. Neon green arrows pointed him forward to a different monster he had not noticed before.
[Poison Webwings]
"They are goofy looking bats?" He questioned.
Swinging back forth he was easily able to mow several down claiming their experience. He did for several hours when out of the side of his vision he spots two women.
[Congratulations level thirteen]
[Stay focused, Master Holden]
"I deserve a break don't I?"
He ignored the system to notice the two women strangely. Holden held his head pondering why they even looked looked slightly familiar.
[Holden! Holden! Holden!]
It took him a short minute before coming back to reality. He felt as though he was here before and not just with fighting.
"Shut up please!" Holden shouted.
The two girls gawk at him. They start to whisper as Holden's face reddened, feeling embarrassed in his full blackened outfit and scythe in hand.
"Did you say that to us?" One asked.
"N-No!" He yelled.
[Calm down your heart is escalating beats]
"It's no biggie there is in call for this game." The other explained.
"I had no idea this game was so complicated!" Holden said nervously.
"Check your guide when you get the time anyways bye!"
Both giggling strolling away. He collapsed to the ground wondering why he sucked so much with communication.
[You should go back to training, Master Holden]
"I don't wanna…"
Tossing his weapon to the ground he wrapped his arms around his knees. Hugging them tightly when a mangled doll fell from his inventory.
[mangled doll > level 67 dungeon]
"Where did this come from?" Holden asked.
[You are not fit enough for that dungeon, Master Holden]
"But where did I get this?"
[Unfortunately I do not have that information]
"Then I wanna go to this dungeon!"
[I refuse to take you, Master Holden]
"Fine…I will figure out by myself!" He huffed.
Rising to his feet he thrust the map up on his screen. He pushed the lowered parts away to catch the higher leveled parts of the map in neon red blinking with X marks.
"Is there a chance I can turn you off?" Holden questioned.
[Request denied as this account was specially made for you]
"I see…well then I am going!" Holden shouted.
