Eva breathed out, staring down at the ground with amber sparks flickering in her eyes.
Looking up, she glanced at the Moon which seemed to be staring at her in disappointment.
She proved them all right.
She was chaos.
A monster.
An abomination.
"Birdie..."
She gasped and turned toward him. Instantly, all the voices and thoughts inside her head dispersed as she set her eyes on his face which continued to grow paler with each passing minute.
Helpless again.
Hopeless.
"Tell me how I can help! Don't close your eyes." she cried out, panic setting in slowly as his lips grew parched and dry due to the shortage of blood.
"I can't teleport." he breathed out, his voice fainter than the air whistling around them.
Eva's heart thudded inside her chest louder than ever. What was she supposed to do? How to get them both back to Eden?
"How can I?" she asked nobody in particular but he heard her clearly enough, though a haze was blocking his sight from seeing her completely.
In the end, they were both vulnerable when it came to each other
"Imagine Eden in your mind." his voice sounded hoarse and more rugged than before. A trickle of blood slipped out his lips but Eva remained firm on the outside no matter how badly her heart cracked.
Shushing him softly with her voice, she then tried to gain her lost focus back and closed her eyes again. If somebody else tried to do a sneak attack, her senses would be high enough to spot them and put an end to any tries.
The small pinch of guilt that she might've felt faded away when she saw his condition. These men knew what they were doing when they tried to take her away and hurt him.
And she would be unforgiving in matters of him.
Darkness loomed around everywhere, smoke blinding her temporarily and sending her into a daze of confusion and frustration.
She felt angry.
Mad beyond anything she had ever felt.
Her concentration went futile as her thoughts wasted no time in taking over and distracting her.
Why try?
Why not die here... with him?
He deserved a better life... without her.
She needed to get him to safety first.
So she tightened her grip on his hand, taking in the remaining warmth which continued to fade away as time passed by quickly. She couldn't let him wither away right before her eyes.
'Come back please...'
Eden flickered back and again in her mind so she set her focus on a place that she couldn't ever forget. The very place where she thought of him again.
The very place she wanted to visit again but with him by her side...
And in a mist of smoke and darkness, she felt herself hurling through space and time, her mind set on the location with his hand still grazing past hers.
The sensation was something similar to soaring through the sky. She remembered all those precious memories in which she had been safe in his arms and he had made her see a world that she had never expected to see.
In the end, a complete Devil ended up being her savior somehow.
Eva didn't know what to think about that so she let herself get lost in the feel of him and darkness.
The dark didn't feel so frightening anymore.
He was darkness.
Mist and fury combined.
A breathtaking phenomenon.
And suddenly she felt herself being lurched forward, his warmth abandoning her and she grappled around helplessly, wanting to grab onto him and feel him once again.
'Where are you now?'
'Theo!'
Her body hit the ground and light blurred her vision for the moment. Shielding her eyes with her arm, she quickly straightened up and struggle to get to her feet.
Teleporting sure wasn't a piece of cake...
Brown orbs darted around wildly until they rested on a dark figure a few yards away from her. Stumbling forward, she felt an excruciating pain in her chest but ignored it for the time being.
Her main priority, for now, was getting to him.
Her head felt like it was going to crack at any moment without a single warning. The ache that she had been ignoring for a while came back with an intense force, almost blinding her vision again. The Sun was still hidden by the clouds and from the looks of it, the whole night seemed to have passed.
How much pain must he be in?
And after what seemed like ages to her, she reached him and placed her hand haphazardly on his heart.
'Please still be here...'
'Don't leave yet, you bastard.'
'Living without you... is useless.'
Resting her head on his chest, she released a shaky breath when the faint thud of his heartbeat sounded in her ears and through her whole body.
And then Eva let herself fall into him.
Together...
They were simply chaos.
