Theo wandered down the staircase, wondering if he should have told Eva that he had left the door open or if she might accidentally mistake it for something else. He decided to leave it as it was, hoping that she would know that he would never lock her anywhere no matter how much her safety was important to him.
Sliding his hands in his pockets, he cautiously stepped in the direction of Gwen's room. Scratching the back of his head, he wondered if he should miserably attempt to ask for her help or suffer the consequences calmly instead.
[It's for Eva...]
Breathing out, he tentatively knocked on the door and instantly regretted his hasty decision. Tapping his foot continuously against the floor, he forced himself to stay still and wait until Gwendolyn opened the door and allowed him in.
[This is harder than fighting a pack of demons all at once.]
As soon as the door creaked open, he swallowed and attempted to set his lips into a small, welcoming smile.
His endeavors on curving his lips were most likely alarming since Gwen's eyes widened as she set her eyes on her brooding cousin who seemed to be looking stranger than usual today.
"What do you want?" she asked instantly and Theo closed his eyes, trying not to mutter a curse out.
"Why would you assume that I want anything—"
"Shut up and just get it out. You're making me nervous, did something happen-"
Huffing, Theo decided to abandon Plan A and switch to the second one. His cousin was quite disturbingly smart, he admitted with a scowl and parted his lips to speak the dreaded words.
"I require... a favor from you," he uttered and felt like running back into his room at the expression on Gwen's face.
"You need 'my' help?" she repeated in her own words and Theo grudgingly nodded. He had no choice in this matter and anyways, she was the best choice out of Kai and Sebastian.
He almost shuddered knowing what they would do and how either of them would react to his question. Kai would most likely scream out to the world that Theodore Blackwell finally required his assistance. Imagining it made him wonder how he would ever manage to show his face in public without wanting the ground to bury him immediately.
Meanwhile, Sebastian would be as clueless as he was, with no sort of information that could benefit him. In the end, the trio was still the same and hopeless in matters of the heart.
Or what Gwen called, 'Love.'
He needed to ask what that meant too.
Desire and longing he could understand but love? That was something completely out of the scope of his knowledge and abilities. Something he didn't know a clue about, only the things he had heard and seen his parents or humans do.
Back in the human world, he had observed men holding their partner's hands while they walked. Offering to feed them food and assisting them in mostly everything that they were capable of doing. Half of the things he could comprehend but the other part he was oblivious about.
[Why would anybody want to call a woman 'Snookums?']
[Birdy was a hundred times better...]
On the other hand, Fae's had their own ways of showing... affection? They brought flowers according to what he had seen his father do on numerous occasions until he lived. Taking his mother on flying trips and taking care of the most casual and small things for her. If he was still alive, Theo wouldn't miss out on the chance to ask one question: Why?
Gwen cleared her throat and Theo ran a hand through his hair, suddenly thinking of Birdy in his clothes, with his scent on her, in his room.
[Maybe this is a temporary effect of what they call the Birdy-curse...]
"May I...?" he asked, glancing inside her room and Gwen backed away to give him space to enter, pouting as he walked past her and she shut the door behind her.
"I don't have decades to listen. Out with it."
Theo raised a mocking brow but the glare she sent him in return made him look down instantly. What was with the women in this household always dominating everyone?
The last time he had looked, he was the fricking King!
"I was wondering what the females nowadays like to receive from men. Where do they prefer to go and what they desire to have—"
"Is this about Eva? Are you planning on taking her out on a date—"
[Date?]
"..."
[Why was she suddenly referring to a calendar?]
His brows narrowed down in confusion and Gwen almost laughed out as her mostly emotionless cousin looked up at her like a hopeless puppy in need of answers.
"Let me guess, you don't have a clue what a 'date' is?"
Crossing his arms across his chest, Theo leaned back against the wall and looked away. Closing his eyes he wondered if going to Gwen was really the 'best' option out of them all. Maybe Davina would've been better...
No, she would've kicked him out the minute she spotted him standing outside her door...
A few seconds passed and Gwen parted her lips, trying to keep her smile contained. "A date is when two people go out to some place nice and... talk? They are supposedly having a romantic relationship—"
"And what does romantic signify?" Theo interrupted and sealed his mouth shut when Gwen passed him another irritated glance.
"Desire, love, affection, and stuff similar to them. Hopefully, you're educated enough to know what other meanings there are..."
Theo scoffed, noting down mentally that Gwen had too much free time if she was standing here scolding him as if he was a toddler who didn't know how to spell 'cat.'
[C - A - T]
"If you want to take 'somebody' out on a date, I would recommend taking her to someplace that holds special memories for you. If that's not what you're looking for, then someplace beautiful or fun which you both would enjoy."
"That's all?" Theo's face made her pinch her arm so she wouldn't end up bursting out in a fit of giggles. 'He's still your King, even though he's a dumb idiot...'
