She looked up when she heard a groan escape his lips. The temperature seemed to have risen as she felt her sight go hazy.
"God, why did you do that Birdie?" he mumbled against her hair and Eva straightened her back as she felt his fingers graze against her waist once again.
"W-we have to leave-"
"And then everyone can see what you do to me, right?" he asked with a dark look in his eyes and Eva gulped. It was a true fact. Everyone would see the bulge in his pants and then their eyes would travel to her automatically.
"It's ok-"
"No, it's not okay!" she spoke and dragged her hand down his chest which was only stopped by his hands as she looked up into his obsidian eyes back again.
"Stop."
"But-"
"If you do that, we won't ever manage to leave," said Theo, and Eva felt her mouth dry up with his words. Did he just say that or had she imagined it?
"Give me a few minutes and I'll calm down," he spoke in a low voice and Eva squeezed her legs at the deepness of his tone. Was it just her or had everything about him always been so mesmerizing?
He felt warm and familiar under her hands.
He felt solid and safe.
Eva wanted to cling to his shirt, bury her face in his chest, and never let go.
"Hold on tight." Theodore suddenly spoke and Eva frowned wondering what he was going to do.
"I'm going to fly us over there," he told and Eva's eyes widened in surprise and excitement. He was going to fly with her? Wait, how was that even going to happen unless...
"How are you going to-" her words were cut short when he abruptly bent down and slid his hand under her leg to pick her up in both his muscular and strong arms. Eva clutched at his shirt, trying her best not to let his touch bother her. Oh, but it did as his eyes met hers and his hot breath fanned over her face as if silk was being dragged over it.
Eva tried not to shiver as he walked out of the house and the cold wind hit her bare skin like a sharp knife. Her curiosity got the best of her and she twisted her neck around to see two magnificently large wings sprout out from his back in under a second. She stared at the black feathers that gleamed under the dark blanket of stars and raised her hand, wanting to feel how their texture felt like.
"Don't-" Theo warned but it was too late. Eva's finger grazed the edge of a feather and her whole body turned rigged when she heard a hoarse groan escape the lips of the man who was carrying her.
"Damn it," he muttered and Eva looked down to see that the bulge seemed more than prominent now. Only a blind man would be sightless enough not to notice it.
"W-what happened?" she asked in a confused tone, wondering which one of her actions provoked his body further off the edge. She watched as a husky breath escaped his lips and he lowered his eyes to look down at her. The hand on her thigh felt like a hot brand, burning through her very skin as she felt something wet pool low inside her belly.
"People like me who have wings... it's considered intimate when somebody touches our wings like that," he stated and Eva saw his Adam's apple bob up and down with fascination.
Licking her dry lips, she parted them to say, "I-I didn't know."
"It doesn't matter." Theodore brushed away the matter as if it actually didn't matter and before Eva could speak another word, she felt them being lifted into the air all of a sudden.
Her nails gripped his shirt in a vice-like grip as cool air greeted her face like a blast and she found herself soaring above in the sky in his arms. She didn't close her eyes in fear and excitedly looked down at the great difference between them and the land's distance.
She raised her eyes, not noticing the obsidian orbs that stared at her bewitched, and looked up at the sky. At the glory of each of those stars who blinked at her in comfort as if they were aware of her worries and troubles.
A childish giggle escaped her lips and her eyes met his for the first time since they had been lifted into the sky. There was something strange and new in the look he was giving her which she was unable to decipher. Theodore had never looked at her in this way ever before and it made her catch her breath as the corners of his lips lifted into a small but genuine smile.
"Having fun?"
She nodded.
"I'm going to have teleport in a few minutes though, I just wanted you to experience-"
His words were cut midway when her lips touched his cheek and remained there for a few seconds. Theo stopped flying, his wings still fluttering behind them but they were no longer moving. She leaned back to stare into his bewitchingly deep eyes and gave a soft smile.
"It doesn't matter. I loved every second of being up in the sky, under the stars, and in your arms."
He opened his mouth to speak but found that his voice had completely abandoned him to her mercy. This girl did have the talent of making him speechless for sure. And all of a sudden, for the first time in all these decades, he heard something that he had always yearned to hear.
Thump, Thump, Thump.
He gulped, staring down at the small woman in his arms, and heard his heartbeat in a faraway corner of his chest. It was an unfamiliar feeling,
But he didn't mind a bit in getting used to it for a lifetime.
