"You forgive me?" he asked, and Eva smiled in his chest trying not to start laughing out loud. His words held disbelief as if he couldn't believe that she had forgiven him so quickly.
"You didn't kill him. Technically you kept your word," she spoke and backed up only to feel his hand on her waist pulling her in closer.
"You need to know something about me." started Theo but was interrupted by her gasp as he looked to where she was gazing at in horror.
It was a scar on his neck, growing red with each passing second. He hadn't bothered to treat any wounds he received each month but now there was somebody with him who noticed everything, he thought and smiled as he saw her worried face.
"It's only a scratch—"
She placed her finger on his lips, glaring at him with such fierce intensity that he gulped and tried not to feel her soft touch on his lips.
"You seem to like my lips a lot," he spoke but Eva only glared in reply, taking back her finger and grabbing his hand as she dragged him back to the room.
"Don't vampires usually heal quickly?"
"Where did you hear that from?" Theo asked, watching as she went towards a cabinet to take the first aid kit out.
"My father used to tell me stories of mythical creatures. Vampires, werewolves, demons, fairies, and mermaids. It was mostly at night when he came back from work, tired but still managed to spend time with us."
"What do you know about demons?' he asked and she looked up at him, her hand midway to his neck with a wet cloth to clean his wound.
He was sitting on the couch while she had taken a position by his side. Taking a deep breath, she began, "My father used to tell me of creatures who came from hell and were gifted with powers which they used for evil purposes. Some were banished but some, he had said were still living amongst humans, hiding their real selves in a mortal body."
"You believed him?"
"If vampires are real, why can't demons be?" she asked and carefully wiped the scars on his neck trying her hardest not to look anywhere else.
"Then you must also know that vampires have a great thirst for human blood," he told her and Eva looked up into his eyes, her amber orbs blinking to see that his gaze was fixed on her neck too.
Gulping, she attempted to speak without making a fool of herself. "But you drink blood every day which I assume is from animals... ?" her voice trailed off as she saw him bite his bottom lip and lean forward.
'Is he sniffing me?' she asked herself in disbelief and saw him close his eyes as a peaceful look came to settle on his face.
"What about our deal?" said Theodore, ignoring her previous assumption.
Eva's brows furrowed in confusion as she placed the medicine back in the box. "What deal?"
"I won, didn't I? I caught you when you were busy hiding in the dungeons." he clarified and Eva held her breath as he tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.
"What about my wish?" she asked, closing her eyes, unable to bear the proximity between him and her. "I didn't get my turn."
"Well then, I'll allow you to make any wish as long as it includes me. Free, only for you which puts you in my debt."
"There is no debt," she spoke, her eyes glittering as her lips twitched. "I'm letting you fulfill your deal and so the debt is paid."
He chuckled, forgetting his previous plans of telling her everything. He had intended to explain everything to her, especially the things that were related to their... undefined relationship. The deal between him and the Fates, the secret behind everything he was doing, and the things he was starting to feel for her.
Uncontrollable desires.
Well, that will have to wait for now. She was permitting him to touch her and that was more than anything he had expected considering how her eyes shifted, looking anywhere but at him.
His hand rose to caress her cheek as he watched her close her eyes, and sigh. His demon was raging against his control, wanting to break out and capture her very soul, bounding her to him for eternity.
"What are you doing to me?" he whispered and Eva looked up, her eyes narrowing.
"What am I doing to you? It's you who—" she stopped abruptly and shivered as his hand touched her back and slowly slid down to her waist, holding her hip as she swallowed and tried to find her voice.
"What? Did I do something?" he asked, acting oblivious and she glared at him. He was finding this amusing, wasn't he? Sure, if that's what he wanted. She would actually do something to him and make the King regret even trying to tease her. He didn't know what extent she could travel to if faced with a challenge.
Leaning in closer, she placed her hands on his chest meeting his gaze with the same intensity as he did. There was not a place they weren't touching except for...
Her gaze dropped to his lips just as his did. Her hands trembled when she saw him lean in. All she could see was his lips as she completely stopped breathing until she felt a soft brush of his lips against hers.
A small gasp escaped her trembling lips as she looked up and saw that he was staring at her as if she was the only one he could see in this world. There was something different in his gaze this time that made her tingle again from her toes to the ends of her fingers.
"This is wrong," she spoke, suddenly remembering all her elder sister's warnings and cursing them all one by one. Did the warnings even matter now? He didn't back away and instead questioned,
"Tell me you feel nothing," said Theodore and with each word, his lips touched against hers briefly as she shuddered in his arms, trying not to think about the heat pooling low in her belly. "Say that you don't want this." his lips grazed the corner of her lips and his eyes remained fixated on her eyes all the time. "And I will walk away."
His voice was hypnotic, and his warmth had her under a wicked spell. He was the adventure she craved. He was temptation she wanted to indulge. He was a sin she wanted to commit. How could she say that she felt nothing?
"I-I don't know what your intentions are..." her voice trailed off as she saw him take a step back and panicked.
Her grip on his jacket tightened when he uttered, "Breathe. I'm letting you breathe."
Okay, that was a sensible move because she knew if he hadn't backed away, she would've fainted buried in his intoxicating warmth.
'What a great way to die!' her heart exclaimed, jumping around and puffing with anticipation.
