Eva looked at herself in the mirror after putting on the light, silky nightgown that fit her body perfectly as if designed only for her. Her appearance was the same as ever but something seemed to have awoken in her face. It was no longer pale but flushed as the thoughts of him came dropping into her head.
She didn't know what she felt for the King and some part of her didn't want to know. Lowering down her walls had always been a challenge for her and becoming dependent on a man was something she was not used to. She was trying her best to show the King that she couldn't give what he asked for but he didn't seem to be getting the signal well.
Opening the door, she stepped out barefoot and her eyes quickly caught sight of the man whose thoughts her mind was filled with.
Her eyes dilated as she took him in. His skin was sun-kissed and her eyes trailed from his broad shoulders to the deep v of his abs. He was beautiful—a work of art, carefully sculpted. When she managed to look at his face again, she found Theo smirking, and she quickly averted her eyes, blushing.
"Should I blow out the candles?" he asked, walking towards her without bothering to button up his white shirt.
"Thank you." but before Eva could leave for the bed, he leaned down and placed his lips on her cheek. Everything stopped still around her, and all she could feel was his lips pressing against her cheek.
The pressure wasn't too much but soft, and even though it seemed like a harmless kiss, her heart skipped several beats, and her lips trembled. Out of shock, she placed her hands on Theo's chest, ready to push him away, but instead, he caught them in his hands.
His lips brushed against her tender skin, and a gasp escaped her lips.
"Dream of me," he said, pulling his lips away from her cheek to look at her dazed face.
Hearing his voice, she snapped out of her reverie and quickly climbed onto the four-poster bed, pulling the blankets up to her face to hide her flushed cheeks. Theo chuckled seeing her attempts at concealing her face and approached the candles to blow them out one by one leaving only the Moon's light which entered through the balcony's glass door.
"I have some work to handle in court. I will be back soon, so sleep peacefully and if something happens call me immediately okay? You just have to say my name and I will arrive."
Eva turned to look at him and nodded gazing into his endless eyes.
"Goodnight," Eva spoke and saw him leave through the door after giving her a smile, shutting it close behind him gently.
She was finally alone but instead of feeling relieved, her heart mumbled emotionally, 'I miss him already.'
'Oh, shut up!'

Just as the door closed behind him, the smile on his lips fell replacing his face with a deadly look. With a hand in his pocket, he walked down the stairs of the castle and met Leon on his way.
"Your Majesty, they have arrived."
Theo nodded and they both approached the dark gilded doors which were situated in the farthest corner of the castle. Leon opened the doors and Theo stepped down the stairs one by one into the darkness. With a snap of his fingers, the torches lit themselves up showing the mucky walls of the dungeons.
"Did a flood happen here?" he asked in a dull tone glancing at the wet walls and Leon gulped.
"The maids had to clean the walls since a little blood stained them on the arrival of the men."
Theo didn't reply and Leon felt sweat run down his back at the silence even though he was used to it by now. The aura around him had gotten stifling and the Advisor walked at a distance just so that he could breathe. The King's sharp boots stopped clicking as they stopped outside a cell and his lips curled up into a sinister smile.
Two bulky men were lying on the dirty floor of the dungeon's cell with deep cuts and bruises covering every part of their bodies. Blood seeped out of their clothes and a few teeth lay broken on the ground.
"They look fine to me. Do I need to teach the guards how to deal with the prisoners, Leo?"
Leon bowed deeply, gritting his teeth. The King had told him to not kill them and Leon, who knew how the King liked his torture, had gone as far as to break the man's teeth and ribs. Was that not enough!?
"Bring the guards here." came his order and Leon shuddered thinking about what the King might have planned in his cunning mind.
The moneylenders were foolish enough to have messed with Lady Eva, he thought to himself as he went to call the guards that surrounded the dungeon.
