Chapter 20 - Not The One I Wanted to See

Bai Yun turned the mirror on the table around. When she heard him ask about her schedule for tomorrow, she sat up straight in alarm. She had to keep a distance from the male supporting character! Don't get involved in a love line! So, she didn't answer. "What's the matter?"

"The divorce requires notarization. Since I still have a day off tomorrow, let's get it done as soon as possible. That'd be good for you and me." For some reason, Chu Jiang's voice chilled. "If you haven't made an appointment with anyone else, I believe you don't have any work tomorrow." He emphasized the three words 'with anyone else'.

Bai Yun didn't believe it. 'So what if you're the Best Actor! What right do you have to look down on a D-list actress? I have no work just because you say so?' She flipped through her agenda to check her recent schedule. 'Mm, that's great. The original Bai Yun really didn't have anything scheduled at all! Hahaha!'

She rolled her eyes speechlessly. Contrasting the ex-husband who had work every day and whose advertisements were shown all over the streets, why was the original Bai Yun so disappointing? She could only reply with a muffled voice, "I'm free anytime!"

"I'll have someone pick you up tomorrow." Hearing her muffled voice, Chu Jiang couldn't help but soften his tone. He was about to give her more instructions when the line went dead.

Chu Jiang: "…"

Bai Yun pored over the script until midnight. By the time she was done, the script without many lines was filled with annotations.

Bai Yun treated every character with a sincere heart, and the price of being too sincere was that she ended up sleeping until noon the next day, before being woken up by a knock on the door.

She rolled on the bed in frustration. Just as she was about to call for her assistant to open the door, she suddenly remembered that her assistant from the real world was not in this world, and the assistant from this world was busy accompanying her boyfriend. Reluctantly, she dragged herself out of the blanket and went to open the door barefoot.

Still sleepy, Bai Yun didn't look at who it was and simply assumed it was the cleaning lady she had hired yesterday. She casually made way and said, "Auntie, please help to clean up the bathroom. The drain seems to be blocked by hair."

She walked around the living room in her bare feet as she went to get herself a glass of water. "Slippers are in the shoe cabinet. Help yourself to whatever you want to drink. Don't stand on ceremony and just treat this as your own place." Holding a glass of cold water in hand, she turned to give a few more instructions. But upon seeing who was standing in the entryway, she stopped talking.

'Crap! Chu Jiang!'

'When did he get here! Where's Auntie! Where's my cleaning auntie!'

Chu Jiang's eyes behind the lenses curved into a smile. Being considerate of Bai Yun's poor pride, he didn't dare to laugh too obviously and only coughed lightly with his fist against his lips. "Since we've already split up, it's not good to be too casual. I won't go in. I'll wait here for you to pack up."

No matter how thick-skinned Bai Yun was, how could she not feel awkward now!

She recalled what the first thing she had said was. 'The drain seems to be blocked by hair… The drain seems to be blocked…" Frozen in place, Bai Yun said dryly, "It's not my hair."

When Chu Jiang heard this, he couldn't help but smile, revealing his teeth. It was way too different from his usual arrogant appearance.

It felt refreshingly youthful.

Bai Yun thought that if Chu Jiang were to smile in front of the camera like this, no woman could reject him. However, this could not eliminate her embarrassment! She hugged her head and wanted to escape, but then she remembered why Chu Jiang would appear in her house at this time.

She seemed to really be getting a divorce today.

"Ah, you're here to divorce me!" Bai Yun's toes curled up. The awkwardness of saying the wrong thing and the happy atmosphere instantly disappeared.

Chu Jiang's smile gradually faded. With his eyes lowered and looking at her naked feet, she could not guess what he was thinking from his deep expression. "Miss Bai, if we don't hurry, my break will be ending soon."

Bai Yun felt that the atmosphere at this moment was even worse than the awkward atmosphere just now. After hurriedly agreeing, she went to change her clothes and wash up. However, since they were getting a divorce, she did not intend to put on makeup. She only lightly applied lipstick to make herself look more alive.

The well-mannered Chu Jiang was very patient, waiting quietly at the entrance.

After Bai Yun came out, he even commented gentlemanly, "Very beautiful, Miss Bai."

'Well, such praise for a bare-faced woman in an ordinary shirt and jeans! What a gentleman, Chu Jiang!'

The divorce notarization was done in Chu Jiang's studio. The well-dressed lawyer and the witness of the Civil Affairs Bureau sat on each side, and the procedure of signing the papers was like an assembly line.

A few stamps landed on the documents efficiently, and after the ink dried, two dark-colored divorce booklets were in their hands. Bai Yun felt a little complicated.

She had never been in a relationship in her two lifetimes, yet in the blink of an eye, she had become a divorced woman.
