Chapter 21 - I Like It Very Much

Sigh, but the term 'divorced woman' sounded so tempting!

Bai Yun's mind wandered while the lawyer and witness shook hands with Chu Jiang and said goodbye. After some pleasantries, they left with a small gift.

Chu Jiang's gaze landed on the dazed Bai Yun. Seeing the dejected look on her face, he subconsciously frowned. Could it be that Bai Yun really liked him? Was she really sad?

Yet, when he opened his mouth, what was intended to be words of comfort became something else. "Now we'll really never see each other again, Miss Bai."

Still immersed in the excitement of turning from a young girl to a young woman, she first let out a puzzled "Ah", then slowly added, "It wasn't me who wanted to meet, Mr. Chu." She paused and tilted her head, her expression very innocent. "You were the one who wanted to meet."

Not quite interested in the topic of who wanted to meet, Chu Jiang only handed the document to Yan Sui. After confirming the contents of the legal document one by one, the lawyer also checked with Yan Sui again.

Chu Jiang was sure that from the start when the notary confirmed the wishes of both parties, Bai Yun's gaze had been riveted upon a poster in his office.

That was his first leading role. He'd played a vicious and self-centered murderer who lacked empathy, who savored pain amidst the wailing.

Chu Jiang remembered that he had lost a total of ten pounds for this drama. As the character was anorexic, the script described his spine as clearly visible underneath a thin layer of flesh that looked like it would fall off with a pull. On the poster, Chu Jiang was skinny and had a vicious expression. His lips were even stained with blood. It was also because of this huge contrast to his usual image that he won the Best Actor Award for the domestic Golden Cauldron Award, for his performance in this role.

"You like that poster?" He was silent for a moment, his eyes also on the poster, before asking her in a low voice.

When Bai Yun saw that Chu Jiang did not continue the conversation and instead started another topic, she felt that he was very strange. Why did divorced people have to discuss their tastes with each other?

She did care about the poster, but only entirely because that character was very similar to the one she was trying to portray for her graduation performance. However, since it didn't seem like a loss to discuss acting skills with the Best Actor who had made a name for himself in this world at a young age, she grinned slyly and said with some formality, "Very much so."

She was about to ask how he had interpreted the character's state of mind, but Chu Jiang didn't seem to agree with her casual liking. He interrupted her, "Then tell me why you like it. Which movie is this character from?"

Bai Yun: "???"

There was no such thing as pleasantries in Chu Jiang's world!

Moreover, she was really clueless about the movie title. In the original novel, details of the male supporting character were merely briefly mentioned and only when absolutely necessary. Right from the start when he appeared, he was already the Best Actor. Who would waste ink writing about his acting career in detail!

After a long hesitation, Bai Yun narrowed her eyes and tried to see the small words in the bottom right corner of the poster that was about a hundred meters away. As she tried to stall for time, she encouraged herself, 'I'm so close to seeing the name! Come on, Bai Yun!'

Unfortunately, Chu Jiang didn't give her the chance. "Miss Bai, we've been married for a long time after all and you don't even know your partner's most famous work?" He rested his hand on his knee and looked at Bai Yun, who was still trying to salvage the situation. He even smiled. "Is this what you meant by falling in love with me?"

Bai Yun's squinted eyes froze as she searched her mind for when she had said that she had fallen in love with him. Chu Jiang tapped his knee and did not disturb her.

Under his teasing gaze, Bai Yun suddenly remembered that in the ward, she had used falling in love with him as an excuse to extend the divorce date. Here he was, bringing up the old scores again! Why was this man so petty?

She cleared her throat and decided to steer the conversation away from that topic. "I have to attend the graduation of my company's acting class in a few days. There's a scene that feels very much like this one of yours." Her slender fingers tapped the poster in the air. "But I suppose the character's on the way to becoming him."

Chu Jiang caught the flash of ruthlessness in her eyes. She was only attempting to interpret this role, yet she had already immersed herself in it. Even many veteran actors couldn't get into character so quickly.

Then, why was Bai Yun's acting so lousy in the past?

He looked at her searchingly. "So how's your research going?"
