Once a person had that to hold over you, your options were infinitely diminished. She clenched her fists by her sides, then hung her head.
Juri went to her new bedroom's door as she was bidden, trying to swallow her fear, or at least keep it to a reasonable level. She threw the door open, reasoning with herself that if she acted brave, maybe she would feel that way, too.
