Fangji International was not far from here.
Look, that tallest building over there is Fangji International, one of the most luxurious communities in Huang City.
The price per square meter was frighteningly high.
With the salary he once had, he feared he could never afford even his own bathroom in this lifetime.
He looked up, filled with admiration but not a hint of jealousy. If others could live there, it was through their own skill.
After all, he had a house of his own.
Keep a proper attitude.
"From here to Fangji International, it will take thirty minutes," he said.
The way was absolutely filled with danger; there were too many zombies, and he feared he couldn't stop these creatures' violent acts.
He left the real estate agency.
"Boss, let me borrow your electric scooter for a bit, and I'll return it to you later," Lin Fan was somewhat familiar with the handsome boss, so borrowing an electric scooter was definitely not a problem.
He was an educated man; he must notify the owner if he wanted to borrow something and shouldn't force them if they were unwilling to lend it.
But the boss was nice and didn't refuse, meaning he was willing to lend it to him.
He hopped on the Aima mini electric scooter and drove off towards his destination.
Vehicles piled up on the road, many of which were overturned. As he passed by a sedan, a zombie inside dully banged on the door, incapable of opening it and getting out.
The wind brushed his face, and it felt good.
On both sides of the road, shops were dotted with staggering zombies. They seemed very dull when unbothered, but became extremely agile upon spotting a target.
Beep Beep!
Lin Fan honked the horn, pushing the mini electric scooter to its top speed.
Roar!
Zombies hiding inside the stores on both sides of the street, hearing the piercing noise, rushed out, viciously following Lin Fan.
"Hey, you zombies, hurry up and keep up! If you don't exercise daily, your bodies won't hold up," Lin Fan yelled back while riding the mini scooter.
A zombie suddenly sprang forward, its body leaning ahead with a blackened mouth opened wide, emitting a hissing roar as it lunged at Lin Fan at a high speed.
He was sandwiched between a stray zombie ahead and a horde behind.
With a sword in one hand, he swung it down, and with a squelch, a ferocious head flew up, tracing a beautiful parabola before landing on the ground.
On both sides of the street were tall buildings, naturally with survivors inside.
The survivors, upon hearing the commotion on the street, watched cautiously, despairing at their current predicament.
Just surviving was torment.
Yet when they witnessed that scene, they were stunned.
"Damn, who is that guy, riding an electric scooter around the streets like that?"
"Call for help, let him know we're here."
"Don't be crazy. Where do you think he can escape to on an electric scooter?"
Some wanted to call for help, but others knew that man couldn't get away; his fate would be terribly grim, definitely torn apart and devoured by the zombies, bitten in the most mournful way.
After a long time had passed.
Lin Fan looked back and saw that the zombies following him had disappeared.
The surroundings fell silent again.
"This is Fangji International, truly a very, very luxurious community," he stopped at the entrance of the community and looked inside. The environment was truly incomparable to his living place.
Parking the electric scooter nearby, he glanced around, then stared at the luxurious, imposing entrance and gradually walked inside.
When he passed the security booth, he stopped. In such a luxury community, registration was required to enter.
Even though the security was absent, he still needed to register, to avoid causing trouble for others; that was the greatest help he could offer.
He picked up a pen and wrote in the register.
Name: Lin Fan.
Gender: Male.
ID Number: 320923200806092338
Visitation Time...
He looked up at the wall clock in the security room to register the time.
Homeowner: Chen Gang, Building 3.
After registering, he passed the logbook inside and then entered the community to look for that building.
"Building 3, Building 3."
He looked up, searching for Building 3.
"This is Building 8, so Building 3 should be further inside." Entering the community was like entering a grand garden, with plenty of flowers and grass, and a beautiful landscape.
Not far away, there was a fountain with a pool that contained several corpses, mangled and smeared with blood, emitting a foul stench, spoiling the view.
He didn't alert anyone, as a poor kid entering a luxurious place tends to be a bit nervous.
"Found it."
Looking up, the sign for Building 3 appeared.
"Mr. Chen said he was on the rooftop, so that's the top of the building. It's so high. I wonder if the elevator is out of service. If it is, I'll have to climb the stairs."
Lin Fan looked up to the top—it was at least thirty-odd floors, really tall. But no matter how high, he had to climb it, especially after finally finding someone a cheap housing option.
Creak!
A zombie, staggering, slowly emerged from a corner.
Although covered in blood, at a glance one could tell she was a beauty, with a necklace that looked very expensive hanging around her neck, dangling into her cleavage.
She was wearing high heels, possibly having twisted her ankle while trying to escape, causing her to walk oddly with her right foot.
The female zombie tilted her head, black blood oozing from her mouth, with her long black hair hanging down, covering half her face.
Upon seeing Lin Fan, the female zombie growled and quickly ran towards him.
Her chest heaved up and down, the thin clothes unable to conceal the occasional glimpses of spring beneath.
Thwack!
Lin Fan calmly raised his sword and decapitated the female zombie's head with a single strike.
Gurgle!
The bloody head rolled on the ground, ending up some distance away, laying on its side, with its gray, terrifying eyes staring at Lin Fan.
[Zombie Killed]
[Points Gained +1]
Lin Fan shook his head. He didn't want to harm anyone—although some had turned into zombies and were different from humans, they all had the right to survive.
But no matter what, one must not attack others.
What happened just now was merely self-defense.
He didn't linger and continued towards Building 3.
At the entrance, there was an electronic door, securely locked. But there were keys on the ground, probably dropped by someone trying to get in but dragged away by zombies before they managed to, given the fresh black blood on the floor.
He unlocked the door and entered.
The elevator wasn't out of service. He got in, swiped his card, and with a ding, the elevator display showed the third floor—that's as far as one could go, only to their own floor.
Too bad, he had to take the stairs.
The stairwell was very quiet, with a window on every landing letting in sunlight, making the usually dim hallway bright.
But at night, this place would be pitch black, creating a sense of panic.
It was safe; he encountered no zombies and finally arrived at the rooftop entrance.
A metal door blocked the way.
"Mr. Chen, are you there?"
Lin Fan knocked on the door very softly, keeping his voice low to avoid startling anyone.
But what he didn't know was...
Behind that door, an utterly inhuman act was taking place.
