Thump!
The scene of a watermelon falling from a great height is one many have seen, and it's truly disgusting.
In that moment, with a splash, before anyone could see clearly what was happening, an obese corpse fell from the rooftop, smashing hard onto the ground, its head bursting apart, blood splattering all around.
A loud booming noise erupted within the neighborhood.
Wang Zhongguo said, "Darling, don't look."
Zhou Aijun said, "Darling, don't look."
The desire to spare their wives from witnessing such a gruesome scene is something all men have in common, no matter their age, and the sight before them left even those seasoned men speechless.
How could anyone be so cruel?
"Little fatty, are you alright?"
Lin Fan knew the young, chubby man was already dead, but he still habitually asked.
Looking up at the rooftop, a crowd of onlookers perched there, gazing down, he realized what had happened when he thought about the earlier impact from something falling.
The howling of zombies came from all directions.
Such noise truly attracted the zombies.
Lin Fan stood calmly in his spot, unruffled, silently drawing out Frostmourne, muttering to himself, "Zombies, please remain sane, don't do anything illegal, or I will defend myself and kill every single one of you."
"Hahaha..." Xiao Bin laughed loudly from the rooftop, seeing many zombies emerging from every corner, their target being the young man and the four elderly individuals.
Look at all those zombies; if they thought about leaving, they'd definitely be discovered by the zombies.
Now they had bait to attract the zombies, providing them with a greater chance to escape.
Run, run as fast as you can, and hopefully, lead all the zombies away.
"Why isn't he moving yet?" Chen Gang frowned, noticing the young man stood frozen, "He can't be scared stiff, can he?"
Xiao Bin said fiercely, "Impossible, he's bound to run."
The rest of the survivors on the rooftop watched Xiao Bin fearfully; accustomed to a peaceful life, they suddenly found the world had changed. Their previous values were turned upside down, and for the sake of survival, there were no moral boundaries left.
They were very scared of Xiao Bin.
They felt he had completely lost his mind.
"Hmm? Why isn't he moving yet?" Xiao Bin also felt something was off, and wondered if the young man really was scared stupid, "Damn it, what a waste."
Such a fortunate opportunity was before them; as long as the young man started running, he could attract all the zombies.
The two elderly gentlemen watched the oncoming zombies with composure.
"Young man, you should run, we'll hold them off for you here."
They were ready to fight; if this were their younger days, they'd have already picked up weapons and gone into battle against the horde of zombies. But they were old now, and simply swinging a stick could twist their backs.
Yet, they thought of themselves as flesh shields, using their bodies to buy this strange, yet warm and polite, young man a chance to escape.
"Elders, check out my sword, cool, isn't it?" Lin Fan asked with a smile.
Wang Zhongguo: ...
Zhou Aijun: ...
"I'm really strong, I never lie, just watch me, I promised to protect you and I won't let anything happen to you."
Slash!
Lin Fan swung his sword.
A hideous zombie's head was thrown into the air and dark blood splattered everywhere.
Fat, accurate, and ruthless. The sword strokes were so swift, one could only see afterimages.
This made Wang Zhongguo, the elder, see in Lin Fan the image of his younger self, back when he fought enemies with sabers to defend his country. He too had decapitated enemies with a broadsword, but honestly, it had been strenuous and somewhat difficult.
Lin Fan was dissatisfied, thinking that the zombies had their own lives, but that didn't mean they could harm others for their delight, especially not when there were four old folks behind him, among them a national hero.
At that moment, without hesitation, he picked up the Simulated Divine Artifact and initiated kill mode.
Even if the police found out, they would give him a thumbs-up and praise him, saying, "Well done, young man."
With one sword strike, he split a zombie in half.
With one kick, he sent a zombie flying ten meters away.
A row of zombies approached, and with his hands on the sword, he swept them in a semicircle, cutting them at the waist, his movements smooth and unhindered. When one's strength was overwhelming, all flesh was mere tofu.
"What... what is going on down there?" Chen Gang gaped, his face blank with shock at the scene unfolding before him.
Xiao Bin, disbelieving, muttered to himself.
"Can't be, can he take on so many zombies by himself?"
He didn't believe it—how could such a person exist?
These zombies weren't like the ones in ordinary movies, slow and stuporous.
They were fast, strong, and terrifying zombies without a sense of pain.
The other survivors on the rooftop, watching the situation below, exclaimed in shock.
"We're saved."
"Yes, if we leave with him, we will certainly survive."
Downstairs.
Lin Fan stood there, his Frostmourne dripping with blood, as if having absorbed the scent of blood, the Simulated Divine Artifact had fully awakened, casting a dark and ghostly glow.
The four elderly people stared blankly.
They had never dreamed that the rather strange-looking young man could be so powerful.
Lin Fan looked around, no zombies appeared, and he smiled, "Elder gentlemen, elder ladies, see? I really am very powerful."
Old Master Wang gave a thumbs up. "Good job, young man. To use your generation's words, that's badass..."
Zhou Aijun recalled his days developing military equipment, when experts were assigned to his side, individuals capable of taking on ten at a time. With weapons, a single person could hold off a dozen or twenty without any issue.
But now, compared to the young man before him, there was simply no comparison.
Lin Fan looked at the fallen chubby boy, "Old sir, he was thrown down from upstairs, and the culprit is still above."
"Mm-hmm, that's right."
"So, I want to catch the culprit and take him to the police station, to face the full brunt of the law."
Listening to the young man before them.
The four elderly people looked at each other. They liked this young chap quite a bit, but to be honest, what he was saying sounded very odd indeed.
Take him to the police station?
It's the end of the world; the police stations are gone.
"Mm-hmm, that's right, we should take him to the police station." Wang Zhongguo nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly with what Lin Fan said.
Zhou Aijun and the others looked at Wang Zhongguo. Well, even you think so? Alright then, whatever the young man says goes, and come to think of it, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with that.
The survivors on the rooftop saw Lin Fan turning back.
They were very excited.
"He's come back, he must be here to protect us and help us leave."
...
Thud thud!
"Could you please open the door?"
At that moment, a knocking came from outside the metal door.
"He's come to find us, we're saved." One of the survivors was ecstatic, and immediately went to open the door.
"Stop." Xiao Bin yelled in shock, attempting to stop them.
But it was already too late.
For the group of survivors who had seen hope, how could they possibly listen to Xiao Bin?
The metal door opened, and Lin Fan looked at everyone indifferently, asking, "There's the body of a chubby boy downstairs, can anyone tell me who pushed him?"
"It was him, he was the one who pushed the person down just now." One of the survivors hurriedly said.
"He's the executioner, he was the one who told us to throw things down from the building, and he was the one who threw the person. It has nothing to do with me."
"Yes, yes, that's right."
The survivors washed their hands of the whole affair, dumping all the blame on Xiao Bin. As for whether they took part or not, there was no need to wonder – definitely not, absolutely not.
Lin Fan looked at Xiao Bin and walked up to him, grabbing his hand.
"What are you doing?" Xiao Bin roared angrily, unable to struggle free from the other's strong hold.
"You just pushed someone down, you've committed a crime, and now I am going to take you to the police station," said Lin Fan.
"What?" Xiao Bin was stunned, cursing, "Are you fucking insane?"
Lin Fan shook his head, "Is this how people are nowadays? Whenever they commit crimes, they all act like this, denying the facts, still trying to wheedle their way out? No more tricks, let's go."
He grabbed Xiao Bin like he was picking up a chicken, effortlessly.
"Ouch! Let go, I'm telling you to let go! Chen Gang, save me..."
Xiao Bin struggled, but it was futile. In desperation, he called out to Chen Gang for help, but Chen Gang, too frightened to even lift his head, was too busy disassociating himself from the situation to pay any heed.
"Big brother, take me with you, I can do anything." A charming woman implored, and from time to time tried to bump herself against Lin Fan's body.
Lin Fan said, "I'm riding an electric bike; it can't carry so many people. Goodbye."
As soon as the words fell.
He closed the metal door once more, then opened a small gap again, "In the future, when this kind of thing happens, you cannot shelter the culprit. You must notify the police immediately, got that?"
After that, the metal door was completely closed.
The survivors on the rooftop looked at each other in bewilderment.
"He must be crazy." Chen Gang thudded onto the floor, his complexion pale as a ghost. What on earth kind of person was this?
