Chapter 6 - Another Basic Spell

"AHH!"

Cassandra's scream was heard again. This is the umpteenth attempt for Cassandra to escape from this tower. Even Gomiko was tired, her wings no longer flapping as tightly as before.

"How long are you going to stop Cassandra? I think we've been wrestling with this for hours. Look at the tips of your nails that look blue. You're torturing yourself, Cassandra," said Gomiko. He was trying to stop Cassandra from this senseless act.

"I won't stop until I can get out of this tower, Gomiko! I don't want to be punished, tomorrow is a terrible day!" said Cassandra.

Cassandra jumped back into the window and bounced back onto the bed. Just as she was about to try to jump back up, Gomiko immediately floated in front of the window and shouted.

"Stop it!"

Cassandra stopped in her tracks and gave her furry friend an annoyed face.

"What are you doing, Gomiko?! Don't block my way! Even if you're small and I could bump into you, but I won't. Get out of my way quickly!" said Cassandra.

"Errgh! Very stupid! You should just learn three easy spells! What's the use of your spell book! With you trying to run away like this, it's a waste of time! Don't you understand too, Cassandra?!" shouted Gomiko, his tiny lips widening in protest at Cassandra.

Cassandra turned to the spell book visible behind her, which miraculously opened suddenly.

"Look, even the gods want you to study the book quickly. Besides, why did you have to refuse? You are part of the black kingdom and should also learn black magic, Cassandra!" Gomiko exclaimed again.

Cassandra took a deep breath, and she then limped towards her bed. She sat pensively, holding her hands.

"I can't, Gomiko. I've been trying to learn all this time, but it's not as easy as you think. Every time I cast a black magic spell, my body would ache, and my hands wouldn't work to expel it. Besides, my memory seems to have stalled and malfunctioned when I forced my brain to recite every spell there was…."

"I know your predicament, but…. You're very mature now. 18 is not a small age, you need to be able to focus your mind, Cassandra. Remember how you found yourself thirteen years ago? You have great abilities, all my pain goes away when you touch me. Just like you did earlier when my body was hot. You should indeed be able to master the two magic powers that exist, Cassandra. You should try it," said Gomiko. His eyes looked round and big as he reassured Cassandra.

"It's not power, it's just a coincidence. After all, what does that have to do with black magic? Nothing, Gomiko."

Cassandra dodged what Gomiko said. But, of course, all of that doesn't have any effect, and it's just that Gomiko wants to build Cassandra's confidence so she can be determined to learn black magic.

"The fact is you can't get past this light now, Cassandra. It means that you will do useless things if you keep trying," said Gomiko.

Cassandra lowered her gaze and then looked back at the open spell book. Then, slowly, Cassandra pulled out the book and took a deep breath.

"Okay, I'll learn it again. I hope you won't get tired of hearing my repeated lines tonight," said Cassandra.

"I will perch here and listen carefully to everything," said Gomiko.

The little furry creature flew and landed on the end of the bed. His big eyes stared at Cassandra, and she was adorable. But, even Cassandra felt like devouring little Gomiko.

"Okay, I have to be really focused and serious!"

Cassandra began to open the very thick spell book. Although her mouth seemed to be muttering, for a moment, she also closed his eyes while absorbing every sentence she read.

**

"Gomiko! Gomiko! Get up!"

Gomiko was awake, his round eyes wide open and staring at Cassandra.

"What's the matter, Cassandra?" asked Gomiko.

Cassandra then stood in one corner of the room that was not exposed to light.

"Laburo birazo!"

Cassandra aimed the spell at a cupboard opposite. Instantly a drawer in the closet immediately opened.

"Look at this! I managed to cast a spell to unlock something! But, I guess it's still a short spell. This book says that this is commonly used when people are locked in an unknown room. Just use the power of the dark light," said Cassandra. Her face was flushed with embarrassment from earlier, and she could only recite one short spell.

"That's been great for me, Cassandra! At least you've progressed now, even if it's just one easy spell you remember."

Gomiko tries to please Cassandra.

The woman looked sluggish and said, "Actually, if my mother wanted me to be able to master three spells, I would have memorized three. However, I have cast two other spells this morning, which brought me to this tower."

Cassandra lowered her gaze and looked at her right hand, which looked red.

"You can add--."

"No way, Gomiko! So far, this is the only spell I can cast. It's also really hard, you don't know my head feels dizzy and my hands… look at this! It's very painful and stiff, I can't stand if I have to absorb the other two spells, "said Cassandra.

Yup, Gomiko understands Cassandra's weakness. She really couldn't be forced to use black spells. Even when Cassandra was fifteen years old, she had almost died from being forced to keep casting black magic spells by her mother.

That's why Aether first prefers to teach Cassandra about physical strength to Madam Rosaline because Cassandra is a weak girl.

"You better sleep, Cassandra. I think the morning will come soon. Your eyes already look very tired," said Gomiko quietly.

Cassandra looked out the window. She then took a deep breath and said, "Looks like tomorrow is going to be a horrible day for me, Gomiko."

"Then you must to face it, Cassandra. I know you're a strong woman, right?" asked Gomiko.

Cassandra nodded her haid, and said, "Yes, of course. I born with this fated, so I must brave to take everything will happen."
