Joan and Athena sat at a stair case exhausted. Athena slept on her back looking at the rusted ceiling,
"Surly this place is not wort it, look at the wall and the door… you can even get sick at just looking at them." She complained non-stop but it seemed the woman next to her wasn't even paying attention.
"What…" Joan looked clueless at the pretty lady complaining next to her. "You've dyed your hair five times now, are you wanted or something."
"Can you focus for once?" Athena stood and stumped her feet on the ground like a spoiled five year old.
"Ok, what do you want?" Joan stood and walked out locking the small empty loft door. Athena carefully walking down the staircase so not to scratch her designer shoes,
"My offer for you to come leave with me is still on," She said hopefully praying to God that this stubborn girl would accept.
"My answer still remains the same," Joan signed, they had gone through this. "It's not that I don't want to leave with you… it's that I want to build something for myself."
"And who said you won't get to leave your dream while in my house?" Athene couldn't understand, all she wanted was to be a part of her success and also help her in her lowest.
Joan walked her short legs forward and held Athena's hands,
"We've gone through this a lot and you know me well enough so give up." Athena could only give up and walk in her car.
As they left for last apartment Joan was quiet the whole trip… a lot flowed on her mind. Her mom had decided to stoop low and selflessly leave her behind and now she had to survive on her own.
The other side Athena was conflicted if to answer Ken's calls, he had been calling non-stop…
"Damn it!!! She's not answering her phone," Ken cursed while filling his glass with water. Lewis sat on the other end of the sofa drying his damp hair.
"I never thought that the mighty man also had girl issues," Lewis couldn't help but enjoy this side of Ken. He always had girls raining at him at his service back in collage.
"Talks the guy who never dated ever since he was born," It was now Ken's time to laugh at Lewis expression. "Remember back in junior school when you almost pissed your pant because that pretty girl kissed your cheek," Lewis threw the towel down and walked towards Ken who was busy laughing.
"Don't you dare come near me…?" Ken struggled to talk while still laughing making Lewis more mad and slapped him with the soft pillow that he defended himself with.
The room filled with laughter and the two forgot about their hard life and the responsibilities that weighed on their shoulder.
"Thanks man for always being with me," Lewis became serious and drank the last drop of his coffee. Ken just looked at his friend, the boy who was so scared of everything and cried so much was now a man that everyone depended on.
"Why are you looking at me like that, are you falling in love with me now?" Lewis joked making a kissy face making Ken cringe.
"Hey, who would love you?" Ken's large hand covered Lewis's face.
"Let's go for some drinks its long since we had our own time."
