Chapter 69 - TRUTH BE TOLD II

AN UNKNOWN LOCATION

THIRD PERSON POV:

It was a temple of sort. Many sorcerers were being slaughtered like livestock.

A man was sitting on his butt, moving away for his dear life. Not like it mattered anyway.

"I warned you, Zefa. You could have just given me the Sivat".

"I can't grant your request, Rachel. I won't betray the Arthurian Legend. It's a question of one life against billions".

"I must say, I love your loyalty so much. But where is your master to save you now?".

She signalled to her aide. The aide left immediately.

"Do whatever you want to me. I won't help you".

"Whatever I want? A rather interesting choice of words".

Soon, the aide brought a little girl along, a knife to her throat.

The man's eye widened in shock.

"I've always known sorcerers to keep no mortal affiliations. You are quite the rock head to ignore that".

"Rachel, please. Don't hurt my daughter".

"Then give me what I want and she goes free. The Arthurian Legend won't bring her to life, you know".

"The Sivat controls the Veil's magic spells. If taken away, we aren't safe from whatever is going to pass through".

"Let me worry about that, Zefa. Just hand it over, or both of you will die".

"As you wish!".

WICCIAN'S MANSION

RACHEL POV:

"What do you mean you lost it?" raved Wiccan.

"I'm sorry. We were attacked on the way".

"Do you know what you've done? You just squandered our only chance to obtain the pure blood descendant. You couldn't handle a few petty thieves".

"They weren't petty thieves. They were more organized and skilful".

"You are a fucking blood witch, Rachel".

"For some reason, I felt powerless facing them. There were white witches among them".

Wiccian was pissed off.

"GET OUT!!!!!" he roared with all his might.

I quickly excused myself from his presence, sulking over my failure.

MAGE-LORD PALACE

XIAO POV:

I was well recovered and ready to go back to the Academy.

As I packed my bags, a knock banged on my door. I didn't bother to look because I knew the caller already. Or so I thought.

"Come in, Qoora".

"Qoora? An interesting visitor to your quarters".

My eyes widened in shock. I turned around and confirmed my fear. It was Mage-Lord.

"Sir, I didn't know it was you".

"Sure, you didn't. I don't usually visit anyone in their quarters".

I gulped down the last statement with a lot of foreboding.

"I can see that you are about to return to the Academy. That can wait".

"But if I stay, I'm risking expulsion based on acute truancy".

He brazened his gaze towards me. The follow up got stuck in my throat.

"I'm gonna give you a special task. I need you to find someone for me".

THE ACADEMY OF DRUIDS

JANE POV:

I was forced by Aurella to come with her to another of her training to the Colosseum. I didn't want to, but Aurella could be quite clingy.

I sat in the pew alongside other people, gazing at a rather voluminous book I borrowed from the Library. The sounds of solid stone being raised and put down intermittently disturbed my reading.

Soon, a scuffle caught my attention. It was Bianca and Aurella. Again.

"Why don't you just do what you're told, bitch?".

"Well, you told me nothing".

It seemed that Aurella ignored the last word.

"Well, that's exactly what you should do".

"I'm the Natural here. I'm supposed to.....".

"Whatever your damn job is, Inacio will do it".

"Well, technically speaking, I'm an Elemental, not a Natural".

"Shut up, you piece of trash".

Aurella walked closer to Bianca.

"I don't wanna be on this team with you any more than you do, but if we want a shot at the title, we have to work together".

"Yeah. We'll do it without you, bitch".

She pushed Aurella backwards. Aurella staggered for a bit. Bianca was really asking for it.

"Look, if it's about Xiao being my boyfriend instead of yours, then better learn to talk rather than sending drooling stares".

Bianca was really pissed off about Aurella's remark.

"What did you say?" she said as she planted a slap on Aurella's face.

Aurella slapped her hard and then, a fight started. Other teams training in the Colosseum refused to come to separate the fight. They sort of enjoyed it.

I couldn't be a spectator anymore as I zeroed in to defend my friend. As I got there, I blocked a slap from Bianca.

"Who's this? Rather mind your business, tits".

Suddenly, my temper rose. She struggled to get away from my vice-like grip.

"The next time you try to hurt her again, you won't like my reaction".

She soon started screaming for help as the light I conjured started to burn her.

"Stop it, Jane" Shola dragged me away.

"I'm out of here" I announced as I turned to leave.

Bianca tried to get at me with a spell but got blocked by Aurella. Soon, a patch of mud smacked her in the face. Much to her consternation, everyone burst out laughing.

"That's what you get for messing with my friends".

She yelled in frustration and walked away as her friends tried to pacify her.

We all laughed hard as we left the Colosseum.
