Chapter 39 - Adversity!

Xue Ru finally left from my side, she bit her lips as if she had something to say to me. But now I'm not interested in wasting time with her. I was in the middle of a game that would determine my life and death.

The death match is absolutely cruel. To lose is to die, and therefore absolutely cannot lose. Liu Wentao and I, our spirits completely tense, converged our eyes on the table in front of us.

We each have five pieces, these five pieces will determine our fate. Holding the five pieces, we looked at each other and began to prepare to play chess. The rules were simple. We place a piece face down on the table with each other, and then open our bottom cards at the same time. This way the winner would be determined.

Just like the last Death Guess, this Death Match chess is even more of a test of one's psychological qualities. Especially since it was impossible to cheat, which made it impossible to use many of my tricks.

I looked at each other anxiously, and Liu Wentao looked at me the same way. Then we were both indecisive. Neither knew what chess to play. Fu Ling watched from the side, then frowned and said, "This death chess is very unfair to Yellow. Because Red has the most powerful chess piece, the Bishop, while Yellow only has the Rat. The bishop can be captured by the mouse, but the bishop can capture the other four pieces except the mouse. It is the most powerful piece."

"But the mouse is different, it can capture the bishop, but it is also restrained by the other four pieces. That means the only thing the rat can deal with is the bishop, while the bishop can deal with the other four pieces. This means that the person with the bishop has a four out of five chance of winning. And the person with the mouse has only a one-in-five chance of winning."

Hearing such words, Liu Wentao's eyes lit up. Everyone was a high school student, so naturally he knew the rules. He immediately realized his huge advantage and his whole body was much more refreshed.

And I wasn't surprised, I had known this for a long time. Death Match chess favors Red, who has the bishop, and Yellow has no other pieces to play against, except for the mouse. Red has an overwhelming advantage. As long as the difference in level is not too great. Then Red will definitely win.

"Come on, let's begin." Liu Wentao chose a piece and placed it on the table. I nodded and looked at the piece in my hand with a calm expression. But my head was spinning rapidly.

What am I going to play the first time? To play the lion or the mouse? The strongest piece in my hand is the Lion. Besides the Bishop, the Lion is the most powerful piece. It can beat, tiger, leopard and dog.

And if I play the rat, I lose as long as the opponent is not the bishop. The rat is not a match for any of the pieces except the bishop. But in the first round, will Liu Wentao play the strongest piece out? This I can't guarantee at all.

I was constantly changing my expression while observing his look. Liu Wentao was the same, and we were testing each other's ideas. Trying to figure out how to play this game.

Is it out of the lion or out of the mouse? I was in a classic dilemma. And Liu Wentao was also indecisive. If I play the bishop the first time, what if I play the mouse?

We both stared at each other, and the space was incomparably silent at the moment. Only the two of us were left thinking intensely. Since there was no way to cheat in Death Match chess, we had to rely on ourselves.

In the end, I decided to play the lion. Because out of the rat risk is too big, only one in five chance will win. Of course, if Liu Wentao played the bishop, he would have a four out of five chance of winning. But after all, I do have a rat in my hand that restrains him. So on his first turn, he should not dare to play the bishop!

We both snapped the pieces on the table and then looked at each other nervously. At the moment my heart was pounding and my blood was rising. This was a battle that we absolutely could not lose.

Holding my breath, we began to open our cards. I slowly lifted the piece up and it was a lion! And Liu Wentao froze after looking at it, and also turned the piece over, again a lion.

Round one is over, lion vs. lion, a draw!

We both silently put the lion next to us and move on to the second round. Now we both have only four pieces in our hands, my pieces are Tiger, Leopard, Dog and Rat. His pieces are Tiger, Leopard, Dog and Bishop.

The second round begins!

I silently looked at the four pieces in my hand, and kept thinking in my mind. Should I play the tiger or the mouse next? I could not afford to be the least bit negligent as my life was at stake in this game.

Liu Wentao was equally determined, and then we each placed a piece on the table and gazed at each other. Liu Wentao certainly occupies the absolute advantage of the red side, but I believe in my intelligence, and even more so in my soul that spent a long night.

This game has lasted so far, and many people have died. Unknowingly the mindset of everyone in the classroom has changed. Even I did the same. Became more and more cold-blooded. More and more indifferent to life.

Although it is clear that once you win, the other side will die. But no one is merciful. Whether I or Liu Wentao is the same. We now have a purpose in mind, that is, we must win, as for the death or life of others. Simply not in consideration.

In the second round, I finally chose the tiger because I didn't dare to conclude that Liu Wentao would play the bishop, and my legs were trembling irregularly. In the moment of opening, I was like a condemned prisoner waiting to be shot.

And Liu Wentao did the same, his whole body was covered with cold sweat, and sweat continued to ooze from his forehead. The whole person shivered. It was like sitting on pins and needles. Then we opened our cards at the same time.

I played a tiger, and Liu Wentao played a tiger. In the second round, it was still a draw.

It seems we were both a lot more cautious, and neither of us dared to play the key pieces. The bishop and the mouse are both critical moves. Once you make a move, it's success or death. Of course, Liu Wentao's bishop has more advantages than my rat.

The third round continued and the pieces in our hands became three. I am now down to Leopard, Dog, and Rat. And Liu Wentao had the leopard, dog, and bishop. This time we were more cautious.

I knew that the longer I delayed, the better my chances of winning would be. If Liu Wentao came out with the bishop on the first round, the odds of winning were four out of five, then on the second round it became three-quarters, and on the third round it became two-thirds.

The more rounds there are, the bigger Liu Wentao's disadvantage becomes. Especially when it comes to the fourth round, then Liu Wentao's win rate out of the bishop is the same as mine out of the mouse, only one-half.

Liu Wentao has also realized that he seems to have planned to play the bishop. And the rat in my hand was already waiting. The rat in my hand is the smallest piece in the game, but it has the ability to capture the strongest piece, the bishop.

I trembled and put the pieces on the table, but my expression was incomparably calm. I knew that in the midst of such a competition, I must not let Liu Wentao see my own weaknesses.

Liu Wentao was the same, and he held back his emotions. He also trembled and put down the pieces in his hand.

Then we turned the pieces over to each other. Immediately afterwards, the winner was determined.

The third round. I played the leopard, and Liu Wentao played the bishop. Liu Wentao wins!

"Oh, I finally won." Liu Wentao said with great joy, shouting in an excited voice. I looked at the game in front of me in silence. I have to say that Red's advantage was too great. The bishop, the chess piece, had no opponent other than the rat.

The first few rounds out of the bishop, the win rate was extremely high. If I play the mouse, I will lose if I run into even the weakest dog instead of the bishop. This is the suppression of Yellow by Deathgames.

Yellow has a significant disadvantage in Death Match. Although this disadvantage will slowly disappear as the rounds increase. But no matter what, it is a fact that Yellow is at an absolute disadvantage.

I was assigned the most unfavorable position, while Liu Wentao was on the red side. That's why it was so easy to win me. Just as Liu Wentao won a game against me. The winner of the other side also appeared

Yun Hai failed and He Shou managed to win a round. This made He Shou immensely proud. I was slightly stunned in my heart. Yun Hai was the most dominant red player, and with his intelligence, how could he possibly lose to someone like He Shou?

"Haha, it seems that Yun Hai is no better than that." He Shou shouted excitedly. His fat face was all smiling wildly. And Yun Hai was very calm, as if the person who lost was not him.

Noticing that my eyes were looking at him, he also glanced back at me. With my eyes watching, I turned my head back slightly, I think I already know the reason for Yun Hai's defeat. He lost on purpose!

This game has a huge advantage for the red side, plus Yun Hai is so smart. If He Shou can't win, he might give up on himself and give up the game. When the time comes, Yun Hai will die together with He Shou.

In order to prevent him from dying, Yun Hai will deliberately lose a round to him. By the way, paralyze He Shou's thinking. Let him think that he is nothing more than that. Then He Shou will continue to compare with him.

And with Yun Hai's ability, even if he loses a round, the problem is not big. He will definitely win another round. Of course even if he wins, he will have to act as if he could only win by a fluke. Let He Shou think he still has a chance to win. The first thing he didn't know was that he had fallen into Yun Hai's grasp from beginning to end. There is no half chance of winning.

I knew that this game, Yun Hai is sure to win.

Retracting my gaze, I continued to start my poker game. Wen Zhu and Wei, who were next to me, were both a bit anxious after watching me lose a game.

"Boss, do you want to take a break. Don't compete with him for now, there's still time anyway." Wen Zhu said.

"Right. There is no need to finish comparing with him at once." Wei also persuaded.

And when Liu Wentao heard such words, his face suddenly changed and said: "What else to rest? Hurry up and compare! Anyway, sooner or later, we have to compare. Among the two of us, one of us must die. Either you die or I die!"

I nodded and sat down again, looking at Liu Wentao's eager gaze and that distorted face, I let out a faint sigh. I know that along with the class curse is continuing, in the class inside the students, one by one human nature began to become distorted, personality has become more violent than before.

Even I was no exception. Perhaps it is this fear that makes us cruel ...
