The lambent sun that shines over Mediocris dims down as it goes westward. You could hear the sounds of popping through the entire kingdom. People cheering, music playing. It's festivals all over Magicae.
Eris is in his throne room fixing up his clothing. Jesse gives him a stick with a wide, flat circular end to it. Eris looks at it cautiously and looks at Jesse. "Jesse, you suppose I know how this works?" He asks. "When you're ready you speak in it. It will transfer to the floating intercoms around the state." Jesse explained.
"Are you ready, your majesty?" Jesse asked. Eris stared at him for a few seconds. He finally blinked. "No." He stands, and walk to the door. "Get Henry or Victor to do it. They know what to say." He walks out.
Mike is in his room looking through his chest. Victor walks in. "What are you doing? You know what today is right?" Victor questioned.
Mike ignored him. He continued to search through his chest. Victor sighs aggressively. "Mikalae, I know you hear me." Mike stops and Victor smiles. He finally got his attention. "I'm going to the festival with a friend. I'll be back on time for the banquet. You don't have to worry, Victordae." Mike smiles.
"Oh, and who's this friend? Are they a 'friend' friend?" Victor smiled, sitting down on a chair. Mike laughs. "No. Me and him aren't dating." Mike looks at him as he pulls a cardigan out of his chest. Victor inhales. "There's nothing wrong if you did date him." Victor stands. "And I'm assuming him is..?" Mike chuckles as he changes his shirt. "All you need to know is that he's a pure-blooded Vaenol." Victor looks astounded. "Oh! I heard they're fantastic kissers and breathtaking in bed." He patronized. "I'm fourteen, please don't." Mike gives him a serious and pleading look. "Does this look rich, but not rich, but not not rich?" Mike asks about the clothing he's wearing. Victor nods. "Good. See you after the festival. Mike rushes to the room and Victor is right behind him.
"My prince. Uh, Prince Victor." Jesse yelled down the corridor. Victor stops and Mike laughs at him as he continues to leave the castle. "You are needed, Prince Victor."
Jesse began to walk faster with each step. Victor had to quickly catch up with him. "Jesse, will any Vaenolrians be at the festival?" Victor asks. "My little brother Jivan. He said he was going with a friend." Jesse answered Victor. Victor chuckles. "Wait. What do you need me for?" Victor stopped walking. "To give the speech for Dream Day," Jesse said. "Dad should be doing that."
"Yes, but he wasn't feeling too well. He told me to get you or King Henry to do it. King Henry is currently in a meeting with some governors." Jesse explained to him. Victor's face softened. "Oh"
Jesse handed him the mic he was supposed to talk into. "Prince Victor, don't take any offense but, do you think she is still alive?" He queried. "She is a light magic user. That alone makes her powerful. I believe that somehow she found a way to survive. Even if she was thrown up there. Into space."
Mike struggled as he walked through a large crowd. "Mikalae! Over here!" Someone yelled from a small distance. Mike looked around then stopped and stood there, staring at the crowd around him. Someone then taps his shoulder. "Don't look so dull, Mikalae." Jivan smiled as Mike turned around. "I told you not to call me that. You should respect your prince's wishes."
"I'll respect my prince's wishes once he respects his name." Jivan smiled. He grabbed Mike's hand. "Now come on, it's a festival."
Victor walks into Eris' office. "So… I just finished the Dream Day speech. Tell me why." Victor said sitting in a chair across from Eris. Eris looks at him for a moment. "You should be ready in forty. You know it's the Purple Moon Ceremony, right?" Eris asks, looking through files. Victor nods. "I want you back on Earth." Says Eris. Victor's face falls astounded. "But-" "But nothing." Eris cuts him off. "I know that you're not done exploring Earth. So go. Mike is doing well, the kingdom is doing well. Everything's fine. Just go back, and have fun with your friends. Go back to school." He says. Victor shakes his head slowly. "No… are you doing well, Dad? I know how her missing has effected you." Victor's face scrunched. "I am well. Why do you think I let you say the speech? After the banquet, you can go. Now go get ready."
Jivan and Mike walked side by side, eating otherworldly pastries. "Do you want to see the ceremony?" Jivan asked. Mike smiled softly. "Yeah."
Everyone gathered around the castle looking up at the sky. With Mediocris being such a big city, everyone couldn't be as close to the castle like others, but it will be a better view anyway.
Jesse walks into Victor's room. "It is time, prince." Victor gets up off his bed in ceremonial clothing. He then follows Jesse.
"Do you know what is held in the center of the castle?" Jesse began, making conversation. Victor nods. "Good, 'cause we're going to it."
They walk into the center of the castle. It was a courtyard with a mystical tree in the center. There was no roof over the courtyard.
Once Victor is in the room Jesse leaves. Victor then walks over to the tree.
"It's starting!" People yelled in the crowds around the castle. They then begin to quiet each other down, readying for what's about to happen.
Victor goes into Incanuit mode and his markings quickly appear. "Full moon under the sacred tree, white and dark give me the magic of dream," Victor repeated four times. He then holds his hands in front of him and starts to form a purple sphere of magic. He struggles to keep the form of it, but ultimately gets it to stay a sphere. He then lifts it into the sky, and out of the round walls of the castle and into the sky.
The people look up at the sphere of magic and see it explode into a firework and then purple dust scattered around the city. The people then begin to cheer, and even more fireworks begin to pop within the city.
Eris enters the courtyard rushing towards Victor. He collapsed. He groaned. "Dad, why does this.." he breathed hard. "Just stay quiet. Doing dream magic for the first time hurts like hell for the first few minutes. Well at least for this method." Eris says beginning to help him up.
Mike walks down an empty street beside Jivan. Mike looked up at him. "Ugh, why are you taller than me?" He asked. "I don't know. Why are you shorter than me?" Jivan responded. Mike gives him a 'good point' look and then continues to focus on the road. Jivan looks at him and smiles. He stops and grabs Mike's hand to stop him. "Do you want to go to RatLand?" Jivan asked. Mike laughs. "They say at night it's roamed by kids. That's why they call it Rat Land, the neighborhood of rats, aka, kids." Mike says and they both laugh. "But it is also a beautiful neighborhood for us adolescents." Jivan began to persuade. Mike places his thumb on his lips and looks at the castle that scrapes the sky. "But I am also a prince that has princely duties tonight. The offer must still stand after tonight though." Mike said. Jivan nodded. "Of course it will. I have to get back to the Vaenol Estate anyway, but I'll press your name on this box when I get home and I'm pretty sure you will answer." Jivan said about his phone. Jivan wings appear, and he starts to fly away from Mike's grasp.
"Sorry to say this but, I don't feel like meeting your family," Henry says. Eris laughs. "It's a quick fifteen-minute dinner. We're just celebrating the birthday of Queen Daeverana, may she rest." He says putting on clothes fit for royalty. "Who was that anyway?" Henry asked.
"Queen Daeverana was the fourth ruler of Magicae. And the first female heir to the throne. They called her 'Queen Daeverana, The Woman' when she began to rule. But she later gained the name, The Queen of Dreams. Her ability to use dream magic was because of her light magic from being a Mediocris, born with the dark magic of King Daevid, and the magic that her mother's clan specified. Those three magic types created Queen Daeverana. The Queen of Dreams." He looks at Henry smiling. Someone then knocks.
"Your majesties, there here. And don't worry, Mikalae is back too."
"Now introducing the royal family, King Eris, King Henry, Prince Vicatordae, And Prince Mikalae. The Mediocris Banquet begins now." Jesse says before he leaves. Waiters and Waitresses came placing food and drinks on the tables for the clan. "Cousin, where the hell is your daughter? She's the only one I like." A man said. "Awe, but I thought I was your favorite," Eris said sarcastically. "Hean did have a good question. Where is she?" Mallock asked. Eris gave him a look that seemed…deadly.
"Look, I don't care where she is. As long as she comes back. I can't stand her brothers." Hean rolled his eyes. Victor and Mikalae both look astounded and offended. "We're right here," says Victor. "I know, I'm not blind. I just don't like you. You can blame Eris for that." He frowns. Victor gave him a dumbfounded expression. "Just eat so we can get this over with," Victor said annoyed. "Shush, shush, cousin. It is time for a Mediocrian show!" Hean stands on the table and Victor groans. "Now, this year's show will be different. It will be a show of strength, magic, intelligence, and endurance." He stated.
"Dads, end this." Victor irked. "No, this is the best part," Eris said pushing his food away and watching Hean closely. "That is your favorite cousin isn't it?" Henry asked. Eris nods and Victor lets out a loud groan.
"So will you, little cousin Mikalae come on out and fight me?" He asked and everybody focused their attention on Mike as he was shoving his face with food. "It'll save some time so sure."
People are chattering, an aroma spreads throughout the air of the house. "Well, it's nice of you to join us tonight. You and your brother leave to the capital so much." A woman whined.
"Mom, I thought you knew I was coming," Jivan said. She nods 'no'. Jivan sits down at the table with his mom and younger siblings. "Mom, I want to go to a school in the capital." Jivan asserted. His mom looked at him for a moment then smiled. "Sure, I really couldn't care. But you know that your dad doesn't want you around the Kinzoku's patriarch. He's already mad that Jesse works with the son of the patriarch." His mom explained. "Well, just don't tell him. Besides, why do he and Superior Derio have so much conflict? They're both a part of the tribunal, they're literally the kingdom's highest officials, even higher than the King." Jivan spatted. "Their affiliation doesn't make them friends. But your father has a good reason. Derio is a deceiving manipulator. And abusive." She began to get louder. After a few moments, she calmed herself down. "I'm just glad his children are not him"
"Mediocris Style; White Struckers," yelled Hean. White orbs began to attack Mike. Mike waves his hand at the spell and it stops mid-way to Mike. It hits, Hean. "Wait, what did he just do?" Victor asks. "You not paying attention? He countered the clan spell." Eris says, still focused on the fight. "Oh, cousin, you got guts!" Hean laughed as he got back up. "I'm flattered," Mike says. Hean begins to fly to him but is stopped before he reaches him. "Sorry, this dance ends," Mike says. "You give up? Ugh, you remind me of my younger self. Very well. This dreadful dinner is almost over anyway. Release me."
Mike walks over to Henry and whispers in his ear. Henry nods and then Mike leaves.
"Everyone stand. It's time to summon Queen Daeverana." Eris said to his clan. He then turned his focus onto Victor. Victor walked to the center of the courtyard and sat on the floor. He closes his eyes then all of the lights vanish. A woman then appeared before Victor.
Everyone kneels. "Who is the current fairy King or Queen?" She asks. Eris stands. "I am the twelfth King, King Eris." He responded. "After seven years I'm summoned? That's a pity. I'm sure you want my knowledge for the future." Daeverana assumed. Eris nods. "We wish for the magic of the first dream magic user to dream into the future. Only you can do." Eris spoke.
"In time eight will return. But their return will awaken something that shouldn't be awakened! War will creep onto your doorstep, and it will be a summit. You shall expect the furry of the Roar of Calamity!" She warned loudly. "What is the Roar of Calamity?" Eris asked. "To know what is to be you must seek The Old. Today The Old is only three; A Nymph, a Sprite, And a Primisian. Find one of them and you shall see." She says then disappears.
"Your majesty, "war", and Roar of Calamity spoken in the same sentence doesn't sound good." One of the Mediocris said. "Yes, so I trust you, my clan. Do not let this knowledge out to anyone who isn't of this clan. Especially not the parliament."
It's night, few horns beep near a shoreline. In the sky, a golden ball shines. It crashes down into a lake, creating steam from the fire that was on it. It washes onto a beach and begins to dim. It cracks and opens. There lies the Knights of Astellan.
