Violet POV
The car ride to Zane's went quickly, everyone made small talk about work, the weather and my parents eagerness to see a pack house. The guards let us in without stopping and two wolves led us through the woods. My parents gasp together as the pack house comes into view.
"Can we live here?" My father jokes and my mom responds with only a head nod. Vince chuckles beside me which triggers dull sparks down my spine. This mate bond is getting stronger which has me worried and excited at the same time.
Alpha Zane and Luna Mia are waiting on the front steps. I step out and receive a crushing hug from Mia.
"Shall we begin?" Vince asked as everyone said their hellos.
"Right this way," Mia points, leading everyone to Zane's office.
We enter the room and it's not empty.
Sitting at a long table was Beta Bruce, a red headed woman, I am guessing is his mate, a blonde man who is built like The Rock and a brunette woman who could easily be an amazon warrior. My eyes must have stared too long because a dominant growl comes from Vince and he pulls his head into my neck. I smile shyly at the people waiting to be introduced.
"Since we are all here, let's get started," Zane motions for everyone to take a seat. Zane and Vince sit at the heads of the table, to the left of Zane is Mia, female beta, the amazon warrior and my parents. I sit to the left of Vince with a chair between myself and the blonde Rock followed by Beta Bruce.
"Let's start with introductions; To my right is my Beta, Bruce and Gamma Kyle. They both say soft hellos. To my left is my beautiful Luna, Beta Annalise and our new Gamma Nicole. My Gamma was on travels to find his mate, he will be training us for battle. Beta Annalise was traveling with Mia and then helping out on training which is why we never crossed paths.
"This is… The Rightful Alpha of the Red Moon Pack, Vince." He pauses as gasp leaves the female wolf's mouth. "To his right, Luna Violet and across, her parents, Steve and Mary Beck." I shyly smile while my parents nod hello to everyone.
Zane continues, "There is a lot to go over, Vince would you like to start with the beginning of the chaos we are now facing."
Vince stands and begins to go through the attack on his pack, ending up half dead in the hospital, meeting my family and then Alpha Zane. I scan the room, but all eyes are on Vince, watching his every move and taking in every piece of detail they can. He asks for questions and takes his seat again.
Beta Annalise speaks first, "Alpha Vince, I am sorry for your loss. If I may ask, who knows your title?" She finishes with a bow to her head.
"Everyone in this room and a few warriors who were at the restaurant." Vince answers.
"The Council doesn't know?" questions Gamma Kyle.
"I will contact them for an emergency meeting once we have enough evidence. Right now, even the statement of an Alpha will only result in a welfare check and out Alpha Vince to our enemies." Alpha Zane states.
"The recent attacks on the surrounding packs are happening more often. I suspect we are on the list within the next coming weeks, I will be calling a pack meeting after we have training and a safety plan in order. The reports from the attacked packs are noting only rogues with no clear leader. All rogues that are captured are either killing themselves or trying to escape and being killed. There's no connection to Griffin or the Red Moon pack beside them offering help. I will be doing meetings with the packs that have been targeted to get anymore information or suspicion they have found. I will also be preparing alliances with the packs that are willing to fight back. We are on the path to war, which leads me to the next situation."
He pauses, "Alpha Vince and Luna Violet are presumed to the First Mates. We have done the research and the information we have gathered is small. We have not found proof that one mate could be human, the elders have suggested we do a test to see. My wolf submitted to Victor's aura when Violet was in trouble." Zane finished.
Gamma Nicole asks, "Alpha Vince, could you drop your aura block?" Curiosity throughout her voice. Within seconds you can feel the power shift as I watched Victor come forward in Vince's eyes. Victor releases a growl and the submitting wolves.
"I would say presumed is the wrong word." Beta Bruce states with a chuckle and bow to us.
"What is a first mate?" My mom speaks up.
Alpha Zane answers, "The First Mates is a folklore story about how the Moon Goddess created the mate bond. The story states that every 4,000 years, the first mates, Viktoras and Valda, will be reincarnated and find each other once again. Wolves live longer than humans. They spend 200 years together before being separated in this world. Every life they have lived, there was war and peace.
"The first sign of their reincarnation is a strong mate pull. The strong mate pull starts with dreams and the notice of your mate before your rightful age. The dreams are to keep the human halves connected and your wolves become attached; whining at her absence, purring at contact and the need to protect.
"Vince had mentioned dreams and feeling the bond after he woke from his coma. The elders of my pack want to test them. First mates are to be protected, respected and cherished in our community." he finishes, looking at my parents for understanding.
"My daughter is human. How can she be a wolf?" Steve chimed in confused.
"The lack of information has made it incredibly difficult to answer how a human is a first mate. It states that one is always an Alpha or of an Alpha bloodline, it doesn't say that one mate can't be human." He answers smoothly.
As I try to wrap my head around all the information.
Vince looks at me, eyes pure black, "Val," his voice deep and controlled.
With a single word my head is pounding, my skin crawling like every nerve is being lit on fire.
I grab my head, "VINCE!" I scream, reaching out to him.
"Violet, what's wrong?" My mother's panicked voice sounds distant. I feel hands around my arms, the pain decreases enough for me to open my eyes and look to see one green eye and one black on.
"What is happening?" My voice was quiet and scared.
"I have called her wolf forward. Do you not remember your dream, dear mate?" questioningly calm. The pressure in my head stops and the only sparks left are caused by Vince's hands.
I look around the room finding all eyes on me, the only difference is I can see their wolves are actually present and my parents sit with shock across their faces.
"Vince," I lean over to him, "why are all looking at me like that?" I whisper.
Because I am present now. I scream as the voice rings in my mind.
"Who are you?" I demand.
My name is Val, I am your wolf. She answers with a chuckle. I look at Vince, who is now smiling at me.
"Luna Violet, are you okay?" Luna Mia asked with concern.
"Yes, I feel completely fine, which is weird considering there is a voice in my head now." I let out a laugh at how crazy I feel right now. "Can someone explain to me what just happened?" I look around waiting for answers.
I stare at Vince, drop his hands from my arms, "Victor," I grab his attention, "come forward and explain yourself." I demand. Shockingly, the wolves around me show their necks and lower their heads. I give a confused look at Alpha Zane.
"Our wolves are submitting to your Luna voice and showing respect to the First Luna." He answers still with his head low.
How do I make them stop? I think to myself.
You bow or growl to accept. Val states. I take her advice and bow to them. They all straighten their back and eyes go back to their natural color. I turn my attention back to Victor.
"Last night, in my world, a wolf appeared. I knew her scent, my mate in every life has finally come back to me. The Moon Goddess sent her to bond in this life before she was awakened in Violet. She informed me that all will come together and to trust the Moon Goddess with our futures. She instructed me, when I knew the time was right to call her forward." Victor explains. "Do you remember your dream from last night?" He questions me. I shake my head in response.
Would you like to remember? The memory is stored in my world and only I can bring it to you. Val questions.
My mother interrupts my train of thought, "Violet, can Val speak with us?" curious about the situation.
I can come forward to speak if you would like. Val says with a gentle tone. I can come forward completely, the process will pull your consciousness in the background, you will be aware of what is going on. I can also share the front with you, you can see and talk. Like when Vince and Victor are both forward. She finishes and I feel her eagerness.
"I would still like to be able to speak." I say out loud. I feel her move from the back of my mind forward, leaving a headache as she becomes present. I squeeze my eyes shut and push on my temples to try to relieve the pressure.
