Violet POV
It's been 5 weeks since Vince confessed his feelings for me, I still haven't been able to process everything he's said. I needed to figure out what I was feeling before I could tell him. It was awkward for a few days but I think he got the hint that I will talk when I know what to say. His 18th birthday is tomorrow and I plan to read him this letter I have been rewriting and just in case it's not what he wanted to hear I also got him a new work outfit and whistle.
My new job is going great, I love working with the babies. Tia is an amazing teacher and has really let me run the nursery. I have asked her about wild animals because there are random howls and growls coming from the woods but she assured me that they are nowhere close to the community. They gave us two days off for Vince's birthday but I think Vince asked for that.
It's 8pm by the time I shower and change from work. I wrap Vince's gift and go downstairs for a snack.
"Hungry?" I turn from the fridge and find Vince only in a towel hanging low on his waist. Water droplets are still sliding down his chest from his hair.
"Uhhh Ye, yeah I was just looking for a snack. Did you want some… something?" I stutter trying to not let my eyes wonder.
"Sure" he says with a chuckle, "I will just go put clothes on." and walks down the stairs. Woah I brace myself on the counter, and turn by the fridge to make some grilled cheese.
I hear the footsteps behind me and Vince sits at the breakfast bar "What are you making? Grilled cheese?" he asked with a goofy childish smile.
"Yeah, simple and easy. Do you want soup with it, it's canned but it works?" I asked him, grabbing it to show him.
"Yeah that's fine. I wish you would have tasted my mom's homemade tomato soup. She was the best cook I knew and she always made it in the fall months." he replies with a sad smile on his face.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." I try to apologize for creating his pain.
"No, it's okay I promise. I only have good memories of my parents. Maybe one day I will share some with you." He says, giving me a smile.
"We should try to recreate her soup. I think it would be fun, do you remember if she used canned tomatoes or actual ones?" I asked excitedly for a cooking experiment.
"I would love that," giving me a nod, "Um she always yelled at my dad for not getting the best tomatoes, so actual tomatoes."
"Where are the parents?" he asked, looking around.
"Dad had another meeting in Seattle so mom went with. They said they will make up for missing your birthday when they come back in 3 days." I answered him, finishing up the soup and grabbing some bowls and plates, "Come on, I made you two grilled cheeses." I hand him the plate and grab myself some food. "Wanna watch a movie and eat in the living room?" I asked.
"Yeah, what do you wanna watch?" He follows me to the couch and takes a seat next to me.
"How about the almost adult pick the movie, we can even watch R-rated." I laugh and hand him the remote. I watch as he clicks through the horror section on netflix.
"How about IT?" he asked.
"No, I hate clowns."
"The conjuring?"
"No, real stories are worse."
"You said I could pick," he says with a huff, "Can I have some suggestions of movies or even shows you are willing to watch?"
"OOO I was wanting to watch The Vampire Diaries. Can we?" Before he could answer I grabbed the remote and clicked on it.
"Vampires? Really?" he asked, rolling his eyes.
"Hey don't roll your eyes at me and it's not just vampires. It has witches and werewolves and –" he interrupts me with "okay"
"Really as soon as you hear wolves, you are okay with watching it?"
"Yup, now start it and eat before it gets cold." he says dipping his grilled cheese in the soup. I laugh and start the first episode.
Vince POV
3 episodes into this Vampire Diaries show Violet falls asleep, resting her head on my shoulder. I can't wait to call her my mate and Luna. I think watching her so relaxed, Victor purring at our contact.
Just over an hour and we will know for sure if she is our mate. I say to Victor.
Touch her hand to feel for sparks. He demands.
We won't be able to feel sparks until we turn 18 and you know that. You just want to have a skin to skin with her. I replied to him.
I slowly move and lay her head down on the couch while Victor whines while I grab our dishes and wash them. I go back, sit on the loveseat, and continue watching the show. I can feel Victor getting restless with midnight so close.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!" I startle awake and find Violet standing in front of me with a huge smile on her face, the second our eyes meet I feel stuck.
"Mine." is all I say before grabbing her down to me and kissing her softly. Victor is howling in my head at the sparks that fall all over my body. I move to her neck and kiss where my mark will sit, inhaling her deep strawberry floral scent.
She pulls back from me, "Vince, what are you doing?"
My eyes pitch black as Victor tries to force control, "You are mine my beautiful mate" Victor's voice echoing through mine causing it to go deeper.
"Mate? I've only heard you call me that in my dreams?" She says, looking at me with wide eyes standing up and walking to the couch.
"You've dreamt of me?" I was confused. Was she having the same dreams?
"I have had dreams about you every night since you came here. Intimate dreams Vince. Everytime my–"
I interrupt, "your father would burst through the door ready to kill me…" I finish and she freezes and stares at me.
"Yes…"
"We were having the same dreams? It must have been the bond trying to keep us close. Alpha's mate bonds are more intense and stronger." I start rambling trying to make sense of what happened.
"Alpha? Mate bond? Vince, what are you talking about?" she demanded.
